Rohr Keeps World Cup Slots Open For Enyeama, Akpeyi; Monitors Uzoho By David Meshioye Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has stated that the goalkeeping slots in the World Cup squad are still up for grabs contrary to rumours doing the rounds that he may have made up his mind on the three goalkeepers for Russia 2018, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. In a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com on Thursday, Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye disclosed that the former Gabon manager is leaving his options open in the goalkeeping areas of the team, adding that the likes of Vincent Enyeama, Francis Uzoho, Daniel Akpeyi, Dele Alampasu and Ikechukwu Ezenwa will have to fight for the three slots. Enyeama, who is retired from international football, only recently recovered from a long-term injury and has been inactive for several months, while Akpeyi has not been impressive in his recent Super Eagles outings. Youngster Uzoho is no longer a part of the Deportivo La Coruna first-team squad despite impressing while standing in for injured senior keepers in LaLiga games. “I can confidently tell you that Rohr has not made up his mind on his best three goalkeepers that will be going to the World Cup. He said Enyeama, Ezenwa, Uzoho and of course Akpeyi will have a chance to get the three slots allotted to the goalkeepers,” Ibitoye told CSN. “He said he is leaving his options open in a bid to get the best from the goalkeepers. That is where the international friendly matches come in; Rohr will be looking at the players closely and those matches will play a huge role in determining who goes to the World Cup.” Meanwhile, Ibitoye revealed further that Rohr is eagerly looking forward to goalkeeper trainer Enrico Pionetti’s report on his visit to Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho. The backroom staff is expected to brainstorm on Pionetti’s report before Nigeria’s friendly match against Poland. Hmmm... probably indeed Sire... If I also go strongly by CSN's reports via contacts with the Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye. Young Okoye seems not to be in the picture for the WC. tbaba1234: |

I think one of the "factors" that will decide how our GK position will be shaped ahead of this World cup especially going into the window of the friendlies starting from next month is called.... "The Enrico Pionetti Report Factor" Whatever are contained within those reports have the power to influence our goalkeeping choices for good or for bad... noe I strongly believe it would be for good and in fact for the best if this team. This report seems so important according to Toyin Ibitoye, Media Officer of the team. Even Rohr cannot wait to spend time with it thoroughly. Hmmmmm... this Goalie position sef... a true enigma. |

TheSuperNerd: He was visited by Agali and went to make a Nigerian passport. That points to an invite if fit. |

It would be nice to see him even if it is just for the feel of being with the team but I doubt he would be tested in these friendlies because these friendlies will also serve as our final real match action preps for the goalies Rohr will wanna make final decisions on. But I won't mind being stunned with another twist from Rohr's mind... We are here probably playing checkers with who Rohr may settle for in the Goalie position while Rohr is busy playing Chess... loolll... Really hard to tell now that Rohr still mentions an Enyeama and Akpeyi... I just tire honestly. Let the friendlies come already. tbaba1234: 1 Like |

Croatia Appoint Vukojevic To Spy On Super Eagles Vs Poland By David Meshioye Croatia Football Federation (CFF) have endorsed the appointment of top scout Dalic Vukojević to spy on Super Eagles as Gernot Rohr’s men take on Poland in a pre-World Cup friendly on March 23, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. Sportske.jutarnji.hr confirmed on Thursday evening that the scout’s basic task would be to study the Nigeria national team closely and provide coach Zlatko Dalić with all necessary dossiers on individual players that make up the Super Eagles. The Croatia sports platform revealed that Nigeria remains coach Dalic’s biggest headache in Russia 2018 Group D which also has Iceland and Argentina. The coach had on Wednesday insisted that beating Nigeria is not negotiable if Croatia is to have any chance of making progress in the group. Dalic is said to have developed confidence in Vukojević after the latter helped Dalić with right analysis ahead of the duel with Ukraine in Kiev, to ensure the country’s qualification for the World Cup. The Dynamo Kyiv scout who is joining the Croatian backroom staff on temporary basis will be in Silesian Stadium in Chorzów, venue of the friendly match between Nigeria and Poland. The three-time African champions have been drawn in Group D along with Argentina, Croatia and Iceland for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and Nigeria’s group opener is against Croatia on June 16. TheSuperNerd:Rohr kai I tire o but mentioning the likes of Enyeama, Ezenwa, Uzoho, Alampasu and Akpeyi doesn't mean Maduka is not in the picture but i believe it will take a lion heart coach to take him to WC cos he is for the future. |

TheSuperNerd:Enyeama and Akpeyi, don't you think elders council under the leadership of Chief icon4s are winning. Truly tire for Rohr but i think march friendlies should tell us where we are going regards goalkeepers but am seeing Uzoho between the sticks against Poland and a convincing performance meaning number one to beat. |
