As the Nigerian Peace Corps battles the Nigeria Police to vacate its national secretariat, the legality of the organisation might have run into trouble as the President has not assented to its establishment bill, which was transmitted to him last year. https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2018/02/buhari-rejects-nigerian-peace-corps-bill/amp/ 3 Likes 3 Shares

in my own opinion, now that the state governments and even the fg are crying for state police, why don't they simply convert this peace corps to that? sincerely, we don't need a new security outfit at the federal level, the existing ones are already being abused 145 Likes 5 Shares |

Peace corps is not needed. It's a paramilitary founded by jobless persons. Enough of duplication of duty. We have police, DSS, civil defence, NIA, EFCC, Army, etc. Rather state police is more needed in Nigeria than Peace corps. 115 Likes 8 Shares |

dodelight: NSCDC should be put under state Governors command if the Nigerian government isn't willing to give out the Nigerian police force. Peace corps isn't advisable. Enough of paramilitary already. 13 Likes |

Firefire: Firefire, it will save you a lot of heart ache to abstain from an issue you are not acquainted with, except you are among the scammers in NPC or one of the hopeful scammed lot.. Questions begging for answers are what is the role of NPC in the Nigerian Security system. Who bears the burden of their upkeep. I feel now that we are talking about state policing, any new outfit should chill for now. The individuals at the top of NPC have fed fat and will continue to do so from their extortionist attitude towards their so called volunteers since 2009, I think. Such money is used in part to lobby the NASS. The idea of a NPC should be jettisoned and buried. 15 Likes |

Firefire: What is the purpose of the peace corp? Why should federal government be creating agencies that will be duplicating each others duties? We should be advocating for restructuring the system and devolving more powers to the federating units and not creating bogus agencies to drain governments resources. Peace Corp should simply remain a non governmental organisation. 25 Likes 2 Shares |

FarahAideed:It is totally unnecessary. This is at a time that the wage bill of the public service eats up majority of the nation's budget leaving peanuts for capital and developmental projects. This is coupled with the fact that there are so many paramilitary organizations with duplication and overlapping of duties. Will the idle lawmakers fund the Peace Corps? For us to develop as a nation, we should drastically reduce our recurrent to capital budget ratio. I thank God that the President understands this. 14 Likes |
