So missionary journey finally complete (I already posted my POE story). Been wanting to post this but I kept postponing. So I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl in nov in Colorado. Hospital costs: 2day vaginal delivery stay: 2300 Doctor: 2190 (but I got refunded 230 for some reason, no complaints here!) For anesthetiser awon oloriburuku people. I didn’t take epidural o! During labour one of the nurses offered me Nitrus oxide to help with the pain and I said fine, I was even pretty out of it sef cos I can’t remember. Apparently the anestheologist came in for like 5mins and left. Only for me to get a bill from them like three weeks after of $2000!! If I took epidural at least I will know I gained something, nitrus oxide didn’t even do anything. I still felt all the pain. Anyways I fought well and btw guys most hospitals have patient care representatives they help with any issues you might have especially billing problems with external specialists. Try and find their details cos it was the babe that helped me cos she knew one of the doctors in the anestheologists’ office. I eventually paid $600 After plenty fight! Before delivery I got admitted for high bp monitoring, got charged $535 after plenty haggling. Tests: $500 ish Got social security no three weeks after, applied for expited passport ($165)in Philly and got it same day. Applied for visa on arrival and got a response two days later. Paid $280 for baby’s Ticket for virgin atlantic, also apparently it was cheaper for me to get it there than in Naija. I’m so thankful for this forum cos I got all the info I needed here. 15 Likes 2 Shares |

Hello house, I picked my visa yesterday and it had B1/B2 even when i applied for B2. I told the VO i was going for childbirth & family vacation. anyone ever experienced ths before? I booked an apartment on booking.com for my stay and that was what i told the VO at my interview. Now, my BIL who is a permanent resident is offering us accommodation in his house (he's married with children). Note that we just told him we were coming to Houston after we had the interview and it was successful. His brother & nieces (my husband & children ) will be joining me later. I hope that will not be a problem at the POE? I hope they will not say I lied at the interview & also that we are coming to crowd his space/be a burden to him and his family? 1 Like |

Ojugunrege:Yes it’s normal if you apply for B2 and you’re granted you get B1/b2 regardless they’re under the same category. Since you’re going to Houston I advice you to be very tidy with whatever you said at the interview or else it may pose problems to you. 1 Like |

Spatz81:If you’ve followed this thread from part one you’ll know that Houston, Chicago, DFW, EWR are one of the toughest and passengers under go great scrutiny there. I’ve been through Houston point of entry in the past year and I saw what it’s like |

Ojugunrege: It's normal for you to get B1/B2,even though you applied for B1. I don't think changing your accommodation arrangements is such a big deal for you to bother yourself about it,it can easily be explained away, plans do change now and then. That your whole family is coming to stay with your brother in-law is not their business, the important thing is that your brother in-law is there legally and that he agrees to accommodate all of you. 2 Likes |

dere5:Why didn’t she say she’ll be staying with the brother in law in the first instance and secondly did she mention the brother in law in the application. Those Houston people can be funny , I had a similar experience mine wasn’t even brother in law , I changed Airbnb address since I got a better one and trust me the Problem it almost caused for me in that same Houston airport was something else. 2 Likes |

honestwife:Have you suggested visa on arrival ? Every since the visa on arrival route was discovered late 2016 and dere5 was of great help people have stopped using tanko and the emergency travel document that madam Stella issued, even the tanko guy never picks his phone 1 Like |

Chimzy09: What they do most times if they are in doubt is call the brother in-law and ask if he is expecting anyone. But again I stand corrected,as per I'm neither a visa officer nor a CBP officer,my answer is based on my personal experience. 2 Likes |

Nigeria system is and can be frustrating, I sent for visa on arrival for my son and got a response that it was acknowledged but my husband and i have different names hence no link. I immediately realized I didn't attach our marriage certificate, so i did a fresh application attaching the certificate to the application and even my baby's birth certificate yet they still sent the response that my husband and i have no link so I should go to the embassy for visa. If i could won't I get Nigerian passport for $77 instead of applying to pay $190 I honestly think they do this on purpose cos the marriage certificate is there and lists our names. Except change of name is now a must in Nigeria. It's really frustrating that you have to pay $190 for a visa to a place of your own birth yet someone somewhere won't do the right thing by reading. Then eventually it will boil down to the Nigeria corruption system when you don't get it early. To avoid issues, I applied early enough. 1 Like |
