Question of the day: Why is it that, despite its yoy and qoq inconsistency as per results, LIVESTOCK has not only remained liquid but even appreciates sometimes with percentages fair enough put a smile to the bank on jijoists' faces. Mpeace:Is Skye “Large Nigerian Bank?” The report further says "Business Post reliably gathered that the Milost has interest in the “large Nigerian bank”, which has over 250 branch operations, with a purpose of acquiring full control". |

Dear Client/Reader, Global Economy - Movements in global equities markets were broadly bullish, with performance influenced by investors shrugging off concerns about interest rate rises and focusing on the synchronized expansion in global economic growth, macroeconomic data, uptick in oil prices on the back of a weaker US dollar amid volatilities in currencies. In the U.S., Trading activities largely reflected investors’ reaction to (1) Corporate earnings (2) Inflation data which stood at 2.1% y/y in January, same as in Dec. 2017, but higher than polled forecast of 1.9%. Overall, the DJIA and S&P appreciated by 4.25% W-o-W and 4.30% W-o-W to close at 25,219.38 pts and 2,732.22 pts respectively. Equities Market- The equities market closed bearish for the second consecutive week, as investors’ appetite for stocks remained weak. The NSE ASI depreciated by 1.13% w/w as it closed at 42,638.83 points, equating to MtD and YtD returns of -3.84% and 11.49% respectively. The current low valuations of stocks still provide good buying opportunities in the market. Some of our recommended stocks are mentioned below; FIDELITY- Fidelity 9M-2017 result showed that gross earnings improved by 18% y/y to N130 billion primarily driven by an increase of 21% in interest income and a strong growth of 99% in non-interest income to N5.9 billion from N2.9 billion in 9M’2016. PBT also improved significantly by 65% y/y from N9 billion in 9M’16 to N16 billion. EPS also grew to N0.67 from N0.40 in 9M’16. Fidelity bank has a good dividend payout ratio as FY’16 dividend payout ratio stood at 41%: FY’16 DPS-N0.14, FY’16 EPS- N0.34. We forecast FY’2017 DPS of N0.25 and EPS of N0.60 which translates to a dividend yield of 8% (far ahead of the average dividend yield of 4.68% for banking stocks) based on its current price of N3.20 (16/02/2018). It has a P/BV multiple of 0.50x compared to 1.24x for banking stocks. With a target price of N4.87, we place a “BUY” recommendation. OKOMUOIL- Okomu Oil maintained its strong earnings momentum as it recorded a revenue growth of 52% y/y from N10 bn in 9M’16 to N16 bn in 9M’17 on the back of the strong consumer demand as growth in local sales improved by 52% y/y. PBT and PAT improved by 79% y/y and 53%y/y respectively. The stronger than expected PAT of N6.4 bn compared to N4.1 bn in 9M’2016 was spurred by the strong top line strong of 52% y/y and the decline of 76% y/y in net finance cost. EPS also grew by 53% y/y from N4.38 to N6.70. In 2018, we expect that the company will continue to benefit from the FX policy of CBN which has hindered palm oil importers from accessing the official FX market. With a target price of N87.99, We place a “BUY” recommendation. Please find attached our Stock Recommendation for this week, ending 23rd February, 2018. Thank you.
