When I want to settle down. I have always wanted to do so for the love of marriage. I want to enjoy my marriage. Otherwise I will just sit and enjoy my life stress free. I can have kids if I want to.



How ever, we make plans for ourselves but for certain reasons, it doesn't work that way, our partners might have a different plan entirely.

Christian Marriage is really over hype, d money spend is out of recession.

Op seems to have problem with the church marriage. His write-up seems to be littered with reference to it as if it is the cause of marital breakups. Sadly, the church values are meant to protect and reinforce integrity of marriage. If people dutifully follow Christian values, problems will disappear in marriages. What kills modern marriages of nowadays is not the Christian aspect of it but secularisation of marriage. The jettison of what Christianity preaches. People go to church, value the social and flamboyant aspect but jettison the core values it expounds.
I laugh when people talk as if traditional values protect marriages better. No, it doesn't. The modern feminist trend is down to the traditional values, as they tend to suppress women and make them nobody in marriage. Many of them endure their marriages but never enjoyed it, they dared not talk about separation because of stigmatisation that is attached to such in traditional settings. When traditional marital values are championed, it is men (of which op is one) that always raise their hands. Why? Because it favours men, you can treat your wives anyhow and no one questions you. That a marriage lasts a lifetime doesn't make it successful. The damages caused by polygamy championed by our traditional value system remained permanent in the lives of women and children that endure such marriage system.

THEN:- Because wives were responsible and subjective.
NOW:- Because wives are independent and authoritative.
So in Conclusion, it depends on your priorities and prerogative. Different strokes for different folks. But if you can get a mixture of both these days, you better thank your stars!

You can do Christian marriage without the flamboyance. The ceremonial part is a choice people can do without. Churches can marry you discreetly without attracting undue attention. Sad part is when many are invited to a wedding ceremony, they go and take seats at reception venues without attending the marriage proper in the Church. It is the joining of two people together before the pulpit with vows of trust and fidelity till death do both apart that is the marriage and not the reception that takes place afterwards.
If people will remain faithful to their marital vow to love and cherish themselves in health and sickness, with or without children until death do both apart, it is the best that can happen to human kind.
Who cares if you wear wedding gown to you marriage ceremony? it is not obligatory. Who cares if it is done on Saturday? That is not encoded anywhere. At any morning or evening mass, the Catholic Church will conduct a wedding ceremony for you.

For me, marriage is overrated. I don't fancy marriage. Its a waste of time.

people who don't understand marriage or are unfortunate to marry the wrong ones, speak negatively about marriage and try to discourage others. Its not really so. marriage is sweet and enjoyable when you marry right. I have 2 sisters and all of us are happily married with children and we are enjoying it. Even my friends around, its same with them. so I wonder why people condemn marriage. Pray for God to give you someone that will value you
