tbaba1234:Look at how Conte adopted the false 9. That's what we saying. Dynamic approach based on your assessment of your opponent's game. That's modern football. |

tbaba1234: Pure tactics bro..if not for that mistake, there was no way Barcelona getting a goal today.. I think Chelsea can still go to camp nou and get a result..but it's much harder now with that away goal.. |

Mujtahida: I hope Sir Kog45 watched that game to see what we are talking abt..in a tournament, there is nothing like 100% first team..this day you set up your team aaccording to the opposition.. |

Funny enough, I believe our best Defensive midfield combination should be Mikel-onazi(Mikel sits While onazi roam). But Mikel want that role no more. Anyone can watch nig Vs civ afcon 2013 for instance again and see. Onazi-Ndidi leaves space behind a lot .They are both always running forward. Personally, I think having the below option won't be a bad idea. 1. Akpeyi/Uzoho Gk 2. Shehu/Ebuehi RB 3. Idowu/Echiejile LB 4. Balogun/Omeruo LCB 5. Ekong/Awaziem RCB 6. Mikel/Ogu DMF 7. Onazi/Ndidi DMF 8. Iwobi/Obi CM 9. Moses/Etebo LW 10.Simon/Musa RW 11. Ighalo/Iheanacho ATTK 4 Likes |

bengine: Club players selection is different from national team players selection. For clubs you typically have more options and alternatives which are rarely so in the national team set up. Besides, what is so different about the way Chelsea set up today? Same same team naa. 4 Likes |

forgiveness: The coach used a false 9 bro, no natural striker inn the team..I know he used this formation on some of his premiership games when morata got injured.. You can't change the fact that its still a totally different tactics..did u wonder why the coach used fabregas instead of bakayako that has been playing most of chelsea game..its all part of the tactics to suit what Chelsea wanted to do tonight.. 1 Like |

Icon4s: The fact is Chelsea is not gonna beat Barcelona to possession game and if they open spaces up, this Barcelona would kill you..this Barcelona team is very space efficient. They would have to know when to come out to play..its all in the tactics sir, Chelsea can play the way they played today and still nick one or 2 goals at camp nou.. 2 Likes |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by bengine: 1:22am On Feb 21, 2018 |
Icon4s: I explained earlier there is 90% first team and there is room for one or 2 player to add dynamism to the team's play..I wasn't suggesting even 50% change to the team..a team needs to have 1or2 player come in during the tournament to make them unpredictable.that's what I have been saying.. Regarding Chelsea, I think ppl are getting it confused the fact that Chelsea deployed the same 3-4-3 formation..the tactics was totally different.Chelsea was relying on pure counter attacking today Nd maximizing the individual dribbling skills of its forward players, that's why in this setup, Morata or giroud wouldn't work.. Isn't Morata a first team player also? Thou his form has dropped this past couple of weeks..or how would you explain dropping bakayako for fabregas if its not pure tactics..the former doesn't just have the passing range to make their tactics work.. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by bengine: 1:29am On Feb 21, 2018 |
Icon4s: I would give you a classic example sir, would you be using 100% of the same personnel if we played our 1st 2 games with a 4-2-3-1 and we switch to a 3-5-2 for the Argentinean game, this is part of the dynamism and unpredictability we have been talking about.. Keep your opponents guessing what your approach would be..if they know all we are good at is 4-2-3-1, they would have planned well before game to neutralize this.. 3 Likes |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 5:27am On Feb 21, 2018 |
bengine: Definitely nothing is cast in stone. It is no law that you must execute all your 3 group games with 100% same players. Neither is it law that you must make changes to the starting list for each game. A team goes into a tournament having first choice players for each role. But several factors can lead to alterations in the starting line up. 1. A regular performer might get injured in the first game and may not have recovered fully for the second game. 2. A first choice Striker may fail to hit the back of the net only for the second choice striker to come in and score goals. In several of such cases the original first choice will not start the next game. Just also like another outfield player may not have a good game and his backup comes in and the game changes. 3. A first choice goalie may have a bad day in the office and the second choice brought in to replace him in the next game. 4. A team may get whipped and the coaches may need to sacrifice 1,2 or 3 players just to switch tactics. 5. A player may get suspended. Or a key player may be at the risk of missing a potential crucial next round game. That player may be rested in the 3rd group game and another player starts in his place. 6. A team may have qualified for the next round with one game to spare. It may be time to rotate the squad. Typically, for national team coaches, when you execute your first game with your first choice players and none of the conditions I listed above took place. And your team played well and won handsomely. You may want to start that next game with the same players and same formation 100% irrespective of the strength of the next opponent . One of the basic rudiments of coaching is "you don't change a winning team". As you rightly quoted football is dynamic. There is a high chance of one of the 1-6 situations above happening in a team which means teams hardly execute the games with 100% the same lineup. 3 Likes |

tbaba1234:to neutralize him is just allow a player mark him always He only thrives when 2 or more players come marking him. He's not an expert in beating one on one Against Argentina if Ndidi is given the duty to mark him, I'm sure he'll be silent and quiet for most part of the game |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 5:59am On Feb 21, 2018 |
Mujtahida:That's what Iwobi/Moses Simon is meant to do. We need to get the balance right on the flanks. One creative inverted forward and one who runs in behind. Another problem with having Nacho play as a lone striker in this 4-2-3-1. Hold up play is not yet up to scratch |

somehow:I was born and raised in that side of the country too. You will hardly see a Yoruba man who is financially successful that is not married. Kayode has made money for years now, so what do u expect? Talking about his wife looking 30s. You know child bearing makes most women look older. And secondly Yoruba women typically marry their age mates (I mean 1-3years difference). Some are even older than their husbands. I am not doubting that Kayode age-cheated but his is definitely not as much as that of Chrisantus. |

somehow:Age issue again, pls don't let us go nto that cos i can tell you those who really used good age are the likes of Christian Chuckwu,Muda Lawal,Segun Odegbami, Adokiye Aimesemeika, Felix Owolabi,Stephen Keshi,Peter Rufai,Austin Eguavoen. On marriage, married older lady is not a point to determine someone's age, hope you remember someone like RMD married very older MEE of defunct classique in the 90s,Ali Baba married older Patrician Leon in early 2000,Darey Art Alade married older lady,so not a point Pls did you know the age Ahmed Musa got married even those with real age like Keshi,Eguavoen,Rufai married after secondary school so sometimes it depends on individual decision. |
