Why would he "play the way he plays for Nigeria"? Does he play the same role (position) for Chelsea as he plays for Nigeria??

As a player you must be able to adapt to all tactics if you want to succeed as a player.

My man we are not saying using the same set of players all through, pls try and read icon4s comment.

I don't think it would be advisable beating Croatia and cos Iceland brings different tactics then we distort our performing lineup, again beating Iceland and Argentina brings up another tactics,we changes our team again, it's not done that way.
Sir your first paragraph is too wide a generalisation. Even footballers will disagree with you. That's why sometimes, some players fail in one team and succeed in another, or fail in one league and succeed in another.

If you start with a first eleven and let's say Simon Moses posts a good performance but Iwobi comes in as his sub at half time and post a superb performance - who would you field in the next game? That's why I say that mantra is academic. Situations are so varied, so imperfect that it makes the mantra unrealistic.

Which Messi has been kept quiet? Were you watching a different game

Chelsea assigned their two best defenders: Kante and Azpilicuta to police Messi, but Messi kept going thru them as if they weren't there. If you wanna talk about someone who had a quiet game then you can talk about Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta. Messi was massive, Chelsea just had two packed buses around their 18 yard box.

All in all, Antonio Conte totally outcoached and outclassed Ernesto Velderde. Conte taught him a lesson on counter attack football. As a Barca fan, I hope and pray that Real Madrid doesn't get Conte to replace Zidane because if they do, Madrid would begin to dominate Barca again.

i guess he was told not to cross balls in to the box, else we know he averages 6/game. Guess twas just tactical adherence. He and William did well together. For me those yellow cards would decide camp bout outing. But no-one can Comman tell me that Chelsea won't score at Nou. To me Fabregas is the Nou Camp weak link, and not even Christensen.

This na super eagles thread sha,but Chelsea fans are giving their self hope they will score at camp nou, then maybe barca will not score more,Instead of Chelsea to come out and get the goal at stamford bridge they are busy parking the bus, thanks to willian for being a sharp shooter outside the box,he hit the bar twice.so unlucky.....But you heard it here first if you had not heard it anywhere else,Chelsea will not QUALIFY,They are out.

Thank you! Ernesto Velverde was totally outcoached last night. Even the changes he made were clueless at best. I mean, he made the correct changes but the players he decided to bring in were head scratchers! How can you bring in players like Vidal and Gomes when you have the likes of the $200m man, Ousmane Dembele sitting on the bench!

The man was totally out of his depth yesterday, for real.

O pari

somehow:
If Barcelona was still blessed with a player like Neymar, yesterday's game would have been a done deal for Barcelona. imagine 3 players on just one guy. Messi had no one to do the scoring for him while he had 3 on him. Suarez is something else for now.

Dembele would have been a better option yesterday than Vidal!

Even Paco would have added more bite to the forward line if brought in at half time.

Imagine 70:30 possession rate.

I think Argentina friendly would be our greatest undue at WC if Rohr want to base his assessment of the team on it and forgetting our WC qualifiers matches,it seems a lot have forgotten that the same Argentina needed to wait till last match before they made it.

Funny enough we talk more on Argentina friendly to rate our players, player like Shehu is now underrated to a point that 45 minutes Ebuhei is the main man now.

Goood i don't think Rohr is having it like a fan cos am seeing him considering Akpeyi again meaning he is a coach who know what is going on in the team than we fans.

I am glad I am not alone on this.

Remember the tores goal at camp nou? Came out of a counter attack so nothing new here.

I expected Dembele and Paco and not the 2 useless players he put in.

Paco can even play same way Moses is playing. He's been used as a RWB before, meaning he could have combined the position of a midfilder and an attacker right the right wing while Dembele is drafted to the left giving Messi the free role after subbing Paulinho and iniesta.

There is hardly any name mentioned here that doesn't finally get to the NFF.

Dele Alampasu and Francis Uzoho better Watch their backs. This guy and Maduka Okoye mean business.

This is a very good analysis. He nailed Chelsea's game plan. And he also agreed with me that Messi has a good game despite the double and triple teams. Like I said, Barca had a tough game yesterday because Paulinho, Iniesta, and Suarez weren't having their best games.

KPOM!

Despite having a good season so far, I am still yet to be sold on Ernesto Velverde to be quite honest with you. I have exactly the same feelings about him as I have about Luis Enrique ... even though Enrique was getting results, I still noticed that the team wasn't technically up to par. And surprise surprise, he eventually got found out.

For some reasons, Barca is not known to hire world class coaches.

True. But yesterday's tactics was still a master class compared to the tactics Chelsea had used in the past.

I still remember that in that 2012 encounter, Barca hit the post about 6 times over the two legs and Messi missed a penalty. So one could argue that Barca was just unlucky. But yesterday, Barca rarely penetrated Chelsea's box at all. And they rarely got any shots on target! That's the first time I have a Barca team look so helpless ... even the team that lost 4-0 to PSG last year had a better game than yesterday!

And tell you, I still give Chelsea a chance in this game. Right now, I will put Barca's chance of going thru only at 55-45 because I don't trust Velverde to find any answers to Chelsea's tactics.

I grant you that but, like I said, the problem wasn't Messi. The problem is that the rest of Barca midfielders were not having some of their best games: Iniesta appeared leggy and wasn't very mobile. Paulihno was delaying the game and making bad passes. gosh, even Raktic had more passes go astray than normal.

I think the tough game they had on Saturday affected them more than we think.

Nice point bro... camp nou is more wider, with Barca have 70% possession in Stamford bridge then expect that from camp nou or more than that, will Chelsea park the bus at cam nou? Or the second leg will also be played at Stamford bridge.

Mistake are meant to happen in football,if no mistakes goals will be hard in football,Barca possession force Christensen to make that mkstake, and besides Barca also made a mistake by not taking note of willian, they watch him score a lovely goal

Did you see the diagonals Rudiger were hitting from defence. The wide pitch is also an advantage for Chelsea's counter attacking play. only few barca players can match Chelsea players pace.
