Since Christans did not insist on the time of fulfilment, whether it is 10 trillion years from now or not is not the issue. The issue is about the final state of the earth and Christians got it correctly.

It's very possible that man himself can be very destructive, man have the power to destroy earth if so willing but even with the advancement in technology and nuclear warheads, man have never been safer,people can leave their home and get back safe,there are various drugs that cure infections unlike the dark ages when religion was rampant and everyone relied on superstitions for everything, countries today see less need for war and more need for negotiations, nothing is perfect but we know one thing for sure no Jesus will come like a thief in the night from the sky riding a winged horse to come and destroy earth, no jehovahwitness is flying to the sky on the last day, no one is bearing any mark of a superstitious beast, and end time is not near, so my brother, you are very wrong

First world war 20 million dead, people thought that such will never repeat itself

Then came Second World war almost 60 million dead. You are optimistic that Third /Fourth war will not happen?
Estimated dead in third world war if it happens is almost 500 million direct deaths, ecological damage would be world wide.

What are we still doing now?
We are amassing more lethal weapons. The bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are toys compared to the ones we have now. Hydrogen bomb is 500 times more powerful than the little boy used on Japan. We have inter ballistic deployment systems to carry them. Since the second world war, we have perfected biological viral and bacteria weapons with no cure.
