This happens mostly in Rivers, Bayelsa and some parts of Delta state. Rivers is the headquarters of wetting the ground by settling "stakeholders" before you are allowed to carry out any project, else they chase you away. I lived there for 6 years.
You hardly hear of this in AkwaIbom, Crossriver and Edo I think.

If some northern plate carrying illiterates at childhood are having their names in govt payrolls when they grow for doing nothing, what is wrong with paying Niger Delta youths whose lands have been degraded and made unproductive for agricultural and other practices due to oil exploration?

Than money could be used for projects that will yield tangible results in the long run than paying criminals not to commit crime.

Imagine channelling that money into bringing machines for farming and training hardworking youths in modern mechanized farming. Imagine this money used in massive empowerment programs.

This Amnesty is an endorsement of terrorism and responsible governments should not negotiate with terrorists.

Did I say I am from Rivers State? I am a Deltan and I know our challenges when it comes to farming. People are struggling to get land for building you are talking about farming. When you talk of commercial farming, is 2 acres of land you are talking about?

Lol... question for the gods . Seems like you dont know how things work in that part of the world. Before any developmental pproject can be executed, be it by govt, corporate bodies or individuals, the youths and elders have to be 'carried along'.
