I was thinking I will come here to share a success story but God changed the plan but I know it's never too late cos I might be applying in 3 days time again. Please I need somebody to advise me here on what I can do. Here is how my interview went some hours ago. As a sharp and smart boy I got distabilised after knowing the DS 160 INFORMATION on my visa appointment confirmation page is not thesame as that in my DS 160 but u played along since I can't go back home. Luckily for me, the scanner rejected the barcode on my confirmation page but they were able to verify with the ds 160 barcode page itself. So the interview proper. VO. Good morning morning Omo I smile with confidence I said good morning.. VO.. where are you going to Told him ***** University located in the city of ***** United States. VO... was it the only school you applied to No I applied to another school too.... Murray state university but I didn't continue with the application after confirming that their syllabus and available courses does not match my long term goal. I don dey happy cos I was talking with confidence and am sure people on the queue self go dey look say who be this one wey just dey ginger. VO.. DID you take any exams No it was not part of the requirement. (Seriously the school I applied to didn't require any exam instead they only verified my waec after sending them my waec details online.) VO.... Why MBA since I am an accounting graduate. I KNOW I bleeped UP HERE.... I had to say different convincing reasons just to make him understand that I know what am doing but at the end I just ended it with I am a student of ICAN and I have acquired all the required skills needed in the area of accounting so am going to use this as an avanue to build my portfolio and also gather Lotta managerial and leadership skills. VO... Are you chartered I just pause... I for don lie say yes.. I just had to say the truth by saying no but in my final stage. VO... Am sorry you are not eligible..... M go and read ds130 eligibility.. Bla Bla Bla... Na so my eyes red o just had to leave the embassy and went back to home. This just happened today 23/02/2018. Please house... My I-20 is still valid and the expiring date in it (least date of entering the US is 28 March.. In a month time) can anybody advise me on what do do.. Should I reapply and what do you actually think went wrong. Thanks all... I was thinking it's going to be a success story but God knows best all. 1 Like 2 Shares |

@Banjousman Your interview transcript looks ok. I think the first thing these guys look out for is that you are a genuine student. so every effort should be to sound positive and project toward convincing the VO. These does not apply to everyone Next time let say I applied to two schools ---- dont go further unless ask. Exam applied - try and give exam you have been preparing for -----looks positive. Not doing an exam is not positive to be chartered sound positive, maybe we should find some short explanation on a final note do not use NO in an answer like--No it was not part of the requirement. No I applied to another school too God bless you on your next interview 4 Likes 1 Share |

Osahon7:Without funding, it wont. Your main goal right now should be how to get any amount of funding from the schools you plan to apply to.On the average tuition is about $9000-$12000 per semester, if you use the lower boundary, in 3 semesters you will spend $27k which is excluding living expenses. Its not even so wise to spend that kind of money on a masters if you ask me. Try to get some funding or see the possibility of paying from your pocket in 1st semester then getting funded in subsequent semesters. 1 Like |

H femi312:before we talk about funding, will the money be enough to get Pass the proof of financial independence during Visa application after getting the MPH admission? I heard you must be able to prove to the VO that you can sustain yourself. Is $35,000 a good amount to prove financial stability. |

sheke01:My reply might be late. I'll say wait for decisions from other schools. In UTEP, once you are able to get any job/Assistance from any department or office with up to 20 hours, you will be considered for instate tuition. The assitantship might be research, teaching or normal graduate assitant. Also on-campus jobs is limited here. 2 Likes |

Osahon7:Its all depends on your total expenses for a year. Its usually stated on the i20, that is what the VO is going to base his/her judgement. On the average its about $30000 - $45000 per year depending on yhr state and school 1 Like |

femi312:Thanks Sir for your reply.... Question please, you mention "total expenses in a year" what if $35k is in the financial statement and the total living and tution fee cost for a year is lets say $30k. And its a two year program meaning a grand total of $60k. Wont the VO ask how i will be able to fund the remaining one year of the program?? |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by femi312: 4:44pm On Feb 23, 2018 |
Osahon7:No they are not particular about the total fees for 2 years but you must personally have a plan on how you intend to pay. A statement of account of a little above the total fees for one year is all that is needed at the embassy for visa interview. 1 Like |

Osahon7: MPH programs can be very expensive depending on school. Check the tuition right now for schools you are looking at and adjust with inflation so you know what it would be enough for when you're ready. Tuition fees also usually go up with time. |
