Icon4s: Did you see the report posted earlier? Are discrepancies in DOB not valid evidences? Or do players joining the league at 13 year olds sound right? I enjoy seeing genuinely young Nigerians scattered in leagues across the world. The new under 20 list takes us to the bad old days. 5 Likes |

Golden Eaglets Chief Scout Sends Message To Nigeria U20 Coach Over Recent Call-Ups Nigeria U-17 team's scouting coach, Bunmi Blair, has called on the U-20 team coach Paul Aigbogun to beam his searchlight on players playing in the FCT as they begin preparations for the qualifying series of 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. Bunmi, on Friday, led Cityzens Football Club to victory in the 2018 FCT preseason tournament. Cityzens FC a non-league team defeated highly experienced teams FC Abuja, now known as EFCC FC 2-1, Oyah FC (made up of NPFL players) 2-1, before shocking Nigeria National League, NNL side NAF Rocket FC 2-1 in the final played at the Area 3 Play ground Abuja. According to the coach cum OAP, FCT based teams have quality players that can compete at the national team level. "Some of the players we have seen in the last few days can obviously compete favourably in the national teams, especially the Flying Eagles. ''I have seen a couple of them and I will recommend them to my bosses, he said." The FCT preseason tournament is played every year to prepare FCT based teams for the new league season and also unearth new talents from the grassroots. Meanwhile, the head coach of the Nigeria U-20 National Team, Paul Aigbogun on Friday, called 28 players to camp, as they begin preparations for the qualifying series of the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations. Non of the players are from the FCT based teams. Ifeanyi Emmanuel —ANS |

Mujtahida:....even Sunday Olishe 'oh sorry icon4s 'Oliseh' was a flopped at Juventus and Dortmund and loaned to Bochum. Oliseh had just 8 appearance for Juventus and 53 appearance(2000-2005)for Dortmund meaning he spent 5 years with average of 13 appearance per year in 3 seasons and 14 in a season, not good enough. We rated some of these old players like super regulars whereas they were average in their various clubs. This is what we are saying during the discussion of comparing 94 set with present team but those of us who watched 94 set knew this present team is not bad as some always saying they are average. Kanu like Kluivert were not regular at Ajax cos they are just coming up and need to watch Litmanen doing the job but Finidi George was a super regular. 4 Likes |

Kog45: One thing about the 94class, they were not so Super at Club level but they were Super in the green and white jerseys. Remember it was during that generation that the name was changed from Green Eagles to Super Eagles. Players like, Eguavoen, Nwannu, Iroha and Okechukwu, go look at their club statistic. Below average or average at best. But when we saw these "MEN" in the Eagles jerseys it was as if they were "Voltrons-the defenders of the Universe. It took the trickery of Diego Maradona and Claudio Caniggia and also the sleekness of Roberto Baggio to break that defense in that WC. These 3 players are like the equivalents of Messi, Aguero and Harry Kane of today. A DM like Oliseh, the only major wrong footing he put in his Eagles career was to attempt to disposes Baggio, rather than Clearing out the ball. Ndidi his current equivalent has yet to give us what Oliseh gave us those days. Oliseh aside his defensive abilities was an excellent creator. 40-50% of Yekini's goals or attempt at goal from 93-94 came from Oliseh's assists. Ndidi is more of a blocker/stopper which also was Oliseh. The WC is a difficult mountain to climb o. Every game is like a final. Rohr and his boys need to really up their game to beat Croatia first. That game I know will likely seal our fate. It is just an equivalent of our Bulgaria opening game in 1994. Argentina was also in that group and let's equate Greece with Iceland, though this Iceland team is better than that 94 Greek team. 1 Like 1 Share |

Icon4s, see Ezenwa reckless rushing out against Cameroon that led to a penalty...The Striker was going nowhere and Ekong had it covered.. See the distance between Ezenwa and the ball in the second frame, a good keeper would have checked his run when he figured that the defender had it covered. The man was not going to score from that angle 1 Like

tbaba1234: That's the problem with Ezenwa, when he's good, he is a great shot stopper, world class if i may add, but what is bad about him is really bad. I remember saying this after the home leg against Cameroun, but the euphoria surrounding his performance drowned out my assertion. This is more reason why the bench needs to watch Uzoho closely in the friendlies with an open mind and not have it at the back of their mind that he already has the position on a lock down. You don't go to the world cup to experiment. There must be flaws in his game which explains why he was was second choice to Alampasu who I honestly think is average. 1 Like |

I have a feeling that Akpeyi will go to the worldcup. Might even be the first choice if Uzoho end up not impressing during the friendlies Ezenwa being first choice is like a bitter pill to me. Oasis007: |

Kog45: .......... but before Oliseh signed for Juventus he was a Regular at Ajax where he won the Eredivisie and KNVB Cup Twice. He spent just two Seasons with Ajax, won 3 Titles and had 54 Caps, 8 Goals as a DM - fantastic Stats I say. Let me also remind you he was a Regular at FC Cologne - 54 Caps, 4 Goals as a DM. Guess you know he joined Ajax after his outstanding and consistent Performance with FC Cologne in two Seasons consecutively?! Did he flop at Juventus? No..... rather he had already established Players in the Team like Zinedine Zidane, Antonio Conte, Simone Perotta, Edgar David, Enzo Maresca to contend - for a Spot in the starting XI, I guess you and I know his Competitions ain't Rookies or average Players. He spent just a Season and leave for Dortmund because he didn't get enough Chances to prove himself not FLOP! He played 22 Times in his first Season (2000 - 2001) at Dortmund, bar Injury and Suspension he was a guaranteed Starter - that wasn't FLOP. In 2001/2002 Season that Dortmund won the Bundesliga and a Runner up in UEFA Cup, he had 18 Caps while fiercely competing with an emerging Talent - Tomas Rosicky. He lost his starting Berth to Tomas Rosicky in 2002/03, thus he sought for a Loan to Bochum in January of 2002/03 Season where he played 12 Times (Regular for the Team). He was still with Club for the following Season, 2003 - 2004 with a regular Spot in the starting XI and played 22 Times. He returned to Dortmund, had 11 Caps before he was sacked in March 2004 for head butting teammate Vahid Hashemian while on loan at VfL Bochum allegedly over racial remarks. He wasn't released by the Club because he FLOPPED but for a disciplinary Reason. In a nutshell, Oliseh Stats ain't average but controversial. The present Eagles are on the right Track, but they ain't on par or better than Eagles of 90s. We do not need to argue this, coz it's basically my personal Submission based on Stats and Figures. 2 Likes |

tbaba1234:tbaba1234 you need to understand that one thing is going for Ezenwa and is WC qualifier appearance over other keepers but that doesn't mean he is the best cos he was exposed by Algeria. Icon4s once rooted for Akpeyi like wise me but Argentina mistake made me to shift ground but right from on set i never rate Ezenwa and have never see cleared cut performance from him except against Angola but the question is why Rohr continuing searching if he is satisfied with Ezenwa. If it was on experience,Ezenwa have it over the likes of Uzoho,Ajiboye,Alampasu and Maduka but do we say Ezenwa has had enough experience to be picked ahead of these guys? No. As it's now the coming up friendlies would determine a lot of a things and apart from friendlies, their activities in their club sides should also be put into consideration cos we need active keepers for WC. On Uzoho,Rohr actually knew the disadvantage of a WC bound keeper keeping in division three and this made him to send goalkeeper trainer to monitor Uzoho and psych him up for bigger challenges ahead and this is more of a reason i see Maduka as no go area ,may be for future. As i said apart from friendlies coming up,the goalkeepers must be up and doing in their clubs not just using national team as only place, for instance Ezenwa was a great beneficiary of national team, nothing much can be said on his club performance, this always bring question mark. Ezenwa has herculean task at Enyimba unless Aigbogun would be sentimental,Fataou Dauda won't be easy to displace by Ezenwa, the guy is solid,so national team should not be only place for keeper's development.Hope Aigbogun assist in this regards. I think Akpeyi doesn't have problem in his club cos he always in action which is good but not yet convincing in national team which i think is psychological, hope he overcome it. Ajiboye is a regular with Plateau United which is good for him though not really in Rohr's plan but he can be a surprise inclusion,so need to continue from where he stopped last season with Plateau United. Alampasu would find it difficult to break in just cos of his club situation which is not encouraging.I think he needs to find playing time at team B just like Uzoho is doing cos Rohr is willing to assist. As it stand i think Ezenwa, Uzoho and may be Akpeyi have better chance of making it but am seeing surprise from Ajiboye and Alampasu if given chance. The number one keeper should emerge in upcoming friendlies. 1 Like |

tbaba1234: I wish Ezenwa got the same attention Uzoho is getting with the personal trainer. Ezenwa would have stood in good stead and better prepared for this world cup if the Italian Gk trainer was working closely with him at Enyimba. The guy is very coachable that's for sure. |
