Kog45:my oga it's like you've not been living in this country... anything is possible here in Nigeria... in my interactions wit footballers I can't really pin point any that are currently or having using their true age...even large pool of civil servants dont.... just be close to this players...you will get to know the truth.... |

andrew444:I tell you same way Nigeria could not wreck south Africa the last time in uyo....and have failed to qualify for 2 successive afcon. if you really look through that team...I mean the English team..you will agree wit me that the talent is there, the players are well above average...they just need a little better management to attain the best... I think Southgate have done well since he became the coach... |

Icon4s: oga icon....so you support these under 20 coach over age list...? look through the npfl and tell...me how many true under 20 age players can you find?...and here a coach made a list where you've players that have been playing in the npfl for the past 3 years and you see honesty in that... ndidi left all the way from academics and today the rest is history, likewise nancho and co. most young and hungry talented players can better be found in academics...I am telling you the truth....I still remember how manu garba under 20 team took the bunch of npfl best to the cleaners during the super 6 tourney... let him not restrict his invitation to the npfl...but also to the nationwide league and academics...... the essence of this tourney is not just to win the under 20 world cup but.also to groom players for the future to take over from the ones we currently have....if this reason is jeopardized I fear...that years to come we will never stop seeking and longing for foreign groomed players to come play for us..... |

Mujtahida:to be honest wit you...that coach will not claim to be so daft...not to know how some of guys lies about their age... and moreover laziness and greed (what they make from this guys possible transfer to Europe ) will never allow them scout for better players.... just imagine that young goalie we watched his tape the other day...plying his trade in Brazil, or young Deji in Germany and kehinde tosin etc will never get invited...only for us to start battling for their nationality when they have been capped at age grade competitions by their birth nations... what stops us from doing it now...at least give like 5 good foreign groomed call ups...scout for young, good and hungry players all over reputable academics in nigeria...then you're good to go. 1 Like |

The stats Moses Simon's fan boys wouldn't want u to see. Check out this excerpt; "Samuel Kalu does not play centrally in attack but has been scoring or creating goals for Gent; he has been directly involved in 24 goals (9 goals, 15 assists) in 45 appearances since his move to Belgium" 2 Likes |

Humility017: Yes they are better than Nigeria no doubt, but please forget avout the U17 and U20 World Cup,Ghana has won U20 naija has won U17 so there is no big deal about winning that tournament, now those tournament are being hyped because England won it,if it was an African team it won't be hyped,I did not see anybody praising the naija team for winning the past u17 or the Ghana team who won U20 |

Enyimba is owned by the state while Ubah is owned by a private person so I'm trying to see the Business sense in letting Ezenwa go as a free agent. And no, Ubah won't get a dime from FIFA if there is any similar stuff like this in his case because he left as a free agent. Danielnino00: |

Humility017:NFF should extend the policy of using non-league players for the u- 17 to the u - 20 or at least saying that they should use 10 league players, 10 non league players and 5 foreign born players. With these they can kill three birds with one stone: reduce the number of age cheats who proliferate the local league who get into the team 2)unearth new talents 3)cap young foreign born players at least at the age grade level. 2 Likes |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 3:02pm On Feb 25, 2018 |
Icon4s:That's true but at least the core of the team will be experienced players from 2018. And the fact is the team needs constant addition of fresh legs who will be given opportunity to play in the big games. That's what Spain failed to do and it affected them at the last WC when they did not add significant quality new players to the WC and Euro 2012 winning set. Germany noticed it and has quickly corrected itself by taking its rookie team B to the Confederation cup and they won it. Now those guys are young and experienced. Talk of eating your cake and having it. If not by now they would be struggling with who would replace Klose, Lahm, Shweinsteger, Hummels, Mertersecker, Khedira, Schurlle and other aging or depreciating players. So we should also adopt the policy of quickly exposing rooky players. If they are good enough they will gather experience while still young. If they are not good we drop them. If we do it like this our team will remain fresh and not stagnate. We will keep unearthing new talents and perhaps avoid situations where we'd have to scramble for gks just few months to an important tournament as the WC. 2 Likes |

Joebie:That's my point. We should ensure that we have good, young and experienced gks. Abi isn't that possible? All these Courtois, De Gea, Ter Stegen are they not young and experienced? Another problem is that we seem to want a situation whereby we use gks playing in Europe for our NT forgetting that the way we have players playing in Europe that we can easily tap is not the same with gks. Let this not be interpreted as a racist analysis but a factual one: how many African gks not to talk of Nigeria do you find in the Italian, Spanish, English, German, Scottish, Turkish, Chinese, Dutch, Portuguese, French leagues? There's serious paucity of African gks. We therefore cannot wait to use experienced gks exposed in Europe. We must look for a young gk from wherever even from our home league and expose him. |

Icon4s:This issue of evidence or proof as far as players ages are concerned is a blackhole. You know as e de be. All it takes is for a player born 30 years ago to swear to an affidavit that he is 20 years old. Legally speaking even if you challenge the age of a person with 'proofs or evidence' (and what can that be other than to say I know so and so player was born so and so year therefore he cannot be 20) once his Father or mother says he is so and so age all your evidence and proofs will be discarded because the law presumes that nobody can know the age of a person more than his father or mother. And pray tell me, with football being a money spinner today which Papa or Mama go spoil him pikin own by telling the truth? Unless your evidence is the birth certificate of the player, just forget it. That's why I no dey put mouth on issues related to players ages. NFF can curb this if they desire. 20 years ago was 1998 not 1958, 1968, or 1978. NFF should either insist on getting the birth certificates of these players or get their primary school records or conduct MRI tests on them even if FIFA does it only for the u - 17. Abi can't we adopt it as our own in-house policy? Is there any FIFA laws that prohibits it? Cos to my mind killing this age cheating bug is so easy if we want to kill it. This is a specie of corruption that exists within a very narrow field that we can easily combat. 3 Likes |

Joebie: I had not even heard of him until he was highlighted here. But I noticed he gets a lot of accolades in the Eredivisie and in the context of the Eredivisie he is a stand out player. The term Outstanding is ambiguous because it has to be in context. Is he Ebuehi among the top10 or even top 50 RB in the world When you play well in your league no matter how low the league is you get noticed. So far Benfica have noticed him unfortunately not one La Liga, Bundesliga, EPL, club has noticed him. Hopefully he will have a storming World cup and get noticed even more. The Eredivisie has the highest number of goals scored among the top 20 leagues in Europe. That's a sign of a less competitive league not a strongly competitive one. The Eredivisie is ranked below the Turkish, Swiss, Austrian leagues. So we can clearly see he is outstanding in League but we measure that outstanding in comparison to other much higher leagues and it's not so clear. 1 Like |

Icon4s:Sorry but you didn't get my point. I am saying that even if FIFA doesn't do MRI for u20 we should do it for ourselves knowing how deep seated our problem is. That's why I asked whether there's any law prohibiting us from adopting MRI scan for both the U17 and u20 age grade competitions. I am only making suggestions on how to curb age cheating. Haaaa, where did I say that they presented affidavits? at the bolded. Please read me correctly cos this is a thorough misrepresentation of what I said. It's just like I say: for instance Mike stole...... Then Mike says I said he stole. How na? I only spoke of what is possible but you turned it into a fact. I never said the bolded. I only used the affidavit point to illustrate the point that your assertion that anybody who has evidence or proof should step forward or forever keep shut. I am saying it's not so easy as you make it seem because for example a 30 year old man can become 20 by mere declaration. And I know it's quite rife in Nigeria not to talk of among footballers with their eyes set on juicy prospects. What evidence can I bring to counter that? Talking about age discrepancies: how many will be caught by that trap knowing how dubious we are. If we want to solve the problem we cannot say: unless you have evidence or proof then forever keep shut. Or anyone found with age falsification should be dropped. No, it's not so simple. With that approach Sire, may I present to you the present u20 team. If you want the problem solved or at least curbed we cannot adopt such approach. We must be proactive. The question is how do you find out if one is not proactive to do the finding even to the extent of adopting scientific means I don't get into discourse on players ages cos it's murky waters for me talking about what my eyes can see but I cannot proof. It's just like knowing somebody committed a crime but you cannot proof it. One would always be defeated. So the best I do is to avoid the discussion cos it's futile. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 4:21pm On Feb 25, 2018 |
Mujtahida: Oga, again, I say dem no dey do MRI for players at the U20 age category. At that age MRI results are mostly not accurate. Is it not Nur(15 years old), Nazifi(Former U17 even passed MRI), and the former U17 captain(also passed MRI) that I saw on that list? I don't know most of the other last U17 players by name, some may also be on that list. All these your allegations of overage are just based on your perception. You don't know 90% of those players. If you don't want us to pick from the NPFL where do you want us to pick from? This is just the early phase of camping, foreign based players would be added as the preparations and qualifiers proceed. |
