Igbo kwenu! I'm proudly igbo and I'm happy to see my people rise again particularly in the area of human development but I think we should learn to celebrate our achievement in the right way and not to be boastful about it because when pride leads fall comes next. Most of our kits & kin across d delta & including those in the middle belt whom we share common cultural heritage with, I guess have learned their lesson on the side they choosed during the civil war and I'm sure that when next they are presented with such choice again they will choose rightly. All is fair in war and there is casualty from both sides. Pls let us build bridge of friendship and political ally especially now that the opportunity has presented it self but if u keep reminding others that we are superior than them, u will end up making more enemies and even your neighbors may even align with your enemy to bring you down in other to put u in same level with him. This is the reason the jews suffered persecution all over Europe cos they always want to remind Europeans that they are special people and better than them, 6 Likes 1 Share |

oyatz: With those standards in place, if those statistics were to be done based on "state of origin" per individuals in Lagos, Lagos will not have the highest GDP per person. That's the reason why anyone time any program in done by state of origin, you hardly see Lagos, take example JAMB,NECO, WASSCE. And those people who are forced to stay in Lagos, by virtue of concentration of federal infrastructures and facilities in Lagos, ensures high rate capital flight. 15 Likes 2 Shares |

Abogwara: Generations after generations trooping to other states in Nigeria for survival and daily bread just to send money back to their villages and build village houses is not recovery since the money didn't come from your towns and villages. Talk about recovery when you are able to boost economic growth, create jobs, stop the outflow of labor/manpower to other places for survival, give your taxes to your own states in form of IGR to build quality infrastructures instead of giving it to other states to develop their states instead of yours. The recovery is in the states you get the money from, not in your own states The states you get the money from are the ones starting and completing more and quality projects than your own states and your states have the lowest IGR and state budgets in Nigeria and the meager IGR and budgets means your states are poor and there's little or no economic growth and strength. When was the last time any of your states built and commissioned any grand and quality projects? The best project executed by the best governor in the SE according to many of you was a substandard and poorly built flyover that's crumbling into pieces after 1 year of use and haven't even done anything significant since then. I know it's a must for you people to beat chest needlessly, but facts and logic doesn't support your claims and chest beating. Come talk about recovery when you're able to show us the economic growth, IGR strength and numbers and your healthy state budgets. 1 Like 1 Share |

deomelllo:u are still crying also i think u mean state ie lagos cuz the IGR of SW states(apart from ogun due to its proximity and easing of overcrowding in lagos) is pretty shite do u think its a coincidence that ur elders keep screaming one nigeria? when igbos went back home and fought, did ur elders not occupy the offices previously owned by igbos? but alas after seeing that they couldnt match the igbos they started crowing one nigeria. when other seaports are open in nigeria is then u will see only a madman importing from apapa instead of onne or onitsha 10 Likes 1 Share |

deomelllo: You still miss the point. Igbos recovered because we are trading expatriates and it involves dispersal to increase our distribution points. Remitting money back home is a very big boost to your community's economy and that is why even Igbos at home are doing well to an extent despite the orchestrated financial deprivation by the States through siting of power projects and seaports as well as cutting off oil producing communities into neighbouring States to prevent us from getting enough funds. Southeast IGR is low because the Governors know that attempt to impose heavy taxing will lead to total breakdown of law and order as it is against our culture. Igbos never bowed to or payed tribute to anyone before colonialism and Igbo women fought down taxation attempts by the colonial masters. 11 Likes 1 Share |

Abogwara: I see what you are saying, facts, data and logic doesn't support your flawed claims. 1. You can not claim any manner of recovery when in fact the money responsible for what you are claiming comes from outside your borders. 2. State budgets and IGR in the SE are some of the lowest in Nigeria so what recovery are you talking about? You mean recovery in terms of what? The economy or people's ability to build houses in their villages from funds made outside your states? 3. Taxes and healthy IGR are strong signs of strong economic activities and we are yet to see so massive or decent growth in any of the SE states which is even a reflection of their inability to undertake any decent or strategic infrastructure renewal. 4. Paying taxes is a civic responsibility, not something that you revolt against as citizens and the last thing any government should entertain when it comes to people's civic obligations like taxes because they need taxes to build infrastructures, create jobs and create the same recovery you are claiming. 5. Right now, the folks building the village houses some are showing off in this thread and passing off as recovery are paying taxes in other states, they are helping in the economic recovery and activities in other states, not their own states back home. 6. Where is the sense and wisdom in refusing and rebelling against taxes in your own state while gladly paying the same taxes in other states where you make your money and living from? It makes no sense. |
