Hello my people.

I need advice

I want to change my inverter, whilst also being conscious about price.

I've been offered Microteck 2kva Pure sine wave inverter at a good price, which is 24v and better than my 1000watts china Inverter at home now.

I also intend to add one more panel, to take my system to 3*300watts Mono panel from the 2*300watts

CC remains 40amps Mppt

Like how many amps will drop into the batteries after upgrade? Max presently is 32amps that drops with strong sun.

Thanks my people

Maybe 37 or so !

hehe kidding

ur 1000w inverter is 12v, i can deduce. so ur batts are in parallel
600/12 = 50amps max, factoring in losses and inefficeincy. gives u 32amps
so going for 24v inverter, ur batts would now be in series , so 900w/24 = approx 37amps or so.

you might think its small. but its quite huge.

ur old setup is 12v x 400ah, at 32amps harvest...you need about 13hrs for ur bank to be full-- if empty

ur proposed setup 24v x 200ah, at 37amps harvest.... u need about 6hrs for ur bank to be full--if empty.

hope you understand my rough analogy/calculation

I will recommend you add 2 more panels so that you do 2*2 configuration. if I assume you are harvesting 50% of installed capacity averagely, current will be 1200*0.5/26 =24A. Where 26 is d battery voltage and 1200 is the array capacity

Thank you very much Guys.

God bless you really Good.

I am expecting some funds by Mid march, 2018

I will Get 2 more panels to now give me 4* 300= 1200watts Panels
Get the 2000w Inverter

I'll update the house.

Hopefully, if God answer Prayer on time, by March 15th, I should have done it

I have a 1 month old 24V 3kva inverter sitting around that I could sell for a giveaway price, if you're interested:
https://cloudenergy.com.ng/products/3kw-home-inverter I took it out and replaced with a 48V Hybrid, and it's been sitting in a box since

Good day Sir. You have to tell us the battery nominal voltage and AH (amp-hour) capacity so that we can advise properly.

Because you said Trojan L16, one could lean forward and say it is Trojan L16 6v 400AH in which case in series you have a 24v 400AH bank.

You could set the inverter to charge between 40amps and 50amps for a start and that should be OK.

More importantly be sure to configure the correct Absorb and Float voltage setpoints for your battery type - an inverter with an adjustable charge amps setting would most likely have customizable battery type selection as well.

Hello, Mr Bigrovar posted extensively about FLA charge current settings which works for him .. You can also view snapshot below for charge voltage settings if you are on L16

Note: the lower you set your charge current , the longer the charging time for fla & gel spec ! AGM specs prefer higher charge current .. Cheer's

Barezzi:
Confirm Setting 11: "Maximum utility charging current" is set appropriately.
Confirm Setting 16: "Charger source priority" is set to CSO or SNU.

I'm fully off-grid now, but i remember adjusting those settings whenever i wanted to charge from the grid.

Edit: i see Niyi already addressed you...In addition, don't change Setting 01 to UTI. Doing so, your panels will never charge your batteries unless the grid fails. Set it to SBU or SOL.

I beg to differ 01 should be UTI- Unless you prefer the power coming from inverter even if the grid is available. Why would you discharge the batteries and stress the inverter when Grid is available ( SBU definitely NONO as priority is BAT) use full only in developed countries with 24 hour grid availability where you want to use batteries and solar to keep costs down and revert back to grid when batteries are empty

If you want to select 01 as SOL then ensure setting under 12 is at least 48 V so the inverter falls back to grid whenever batteries hit 48 V > I found at 49 V the inverter hunts too much with my load. your mileage may vary

In general, The total charge current is set at 02 ( solar + utility) - Utility alone is set at 11. Solar is based on your panels and CC limit

to enjoy full charging from NEPA and solar the 16 should be set at - SNU ( use grid and solar to keep batteries charged) - changing this setting to CSO will stop the inverter charging from Grid whenever there is sunlight essentially 8 am to 6 PM it can be used only when you have a large PV system and almost no consumption during the day

That's the beauty of choice. With a large enough pv array, you're at liberty to do and undo.

Yup, you're correct. Mine is set to SOL (Solar charging only)

How long will take an inverter with charging amps of 20A to charge 2 batteries of 200A 12V
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NiyiOmoIyunade(m): 9:32am On Mar 01, 2018
How long it will take to charge depends on;

1) Inverter nominal operating voltage - is it a 12v inverter putting out 20A or a 24v inverter putting out 20A (twice the power essentially)

2) State of charge (depth of discharge) of the batteries - are the batteries nearly full (inverter will dial back on the amps going into the batteries) or nearly empty (batteries are likely to see the inverter full charging current for the first 5 hours or so)

3) True battery AH capacity is the 200AH rated battery still performing like a 200AH battery or has capacity reduced?

4) Other factors of which I won't go into details so as not to overcomplicate the issue

So if we assume a 24v inverter putting out 20A into 2 series connected 12v 200AH batteries which are completely empty then you are looking at roughly 10 to 16 or even 20 hours to fill up the batteries to 100% charge. The actual time taken will depend heavily on inverter charging algorithm and so many other factors that may be too hard to model unless you give us more specifics.

Key to note is that the inverter will usually not put out 20A all through the charge cycle hence the charge time will not be a linear [Battery Bank AH Capacity] ÷ [Inverter Charging Amps]

Update on my 12kva Stab - on a closer inspection, i noticed that one of the relays had its switch jammed. I opened up all the relays (6 in number) and cleaned their contacts with sandpaper. put the stab back to use and everything is fine.

[quote author=chimeziem post=65116808]Good-day House,

I need suggestions to what could be wrong with my stabilizer (12kva relay-type stabilizer – A&E dunamis). I woke up this morning to discover that it wasn’t working – was showing OverVolt. Input voltage reading was 200V but no Output from the stabilizer
I turned it OFF and then ON, then waited for the AC attached to be stabilizer to come up. The moment the AC compressor came ON, the relays in the stabilizer reacted and immediately displayed output voltage of 295V and the OverVolt sign appeared.
I tried same thing again with same result, then opened the stabilizer to see if anything was out of placed but all the components seemed fine – No apparent blown capacitors, transistors etc on the board. I could not get a good look at the relays.

Does anyone have an idea of what is happening to my stabilizer? Please share

Gentlemen, I came back home yesterday and met the breaker triped off (the positive one in between my solar CC and the batteries) so I turned it on and immediately I hard a noise from inverter, well I checked and nothing seems unusual. This morning I noticed the CC was on and charging but showing zero reading for watt and amp and even when the positive breaker is off (am thinking maybe the breaker has gone bad) though there was grid supply throughout the night uptill this morning why will the CC be charging? Or could it be that the inverter charger is not working? See pics below
