Press TV, the Iranian state-owned English language news and documentary network, aired a discussion yesterday on Boko Haram's atrocities in Nigeria in its The Debate programme.

One commentator, Shabbir Hassannally, an Islamic scholar and activist, claimed that the interests of the Nigerian government were served by the Boko Haram attacks because the government "does not care about the people".

Av been in the NE since 2006, I was there when it all began; in Maiduguri back then we use to refer to sound of explosion as ringing tone cause we were so used to it. Even today, I will pass through Dapchi on my way to Geidam town on official duty for my company, so am commenting from position of knowledge not perception
