See ehn... Me I rate Dele Alampasu very highly oooo... In fact, I still consider him slightly better than Uzoho in terms of "raw talent" but thing is, Uzoho seems to have overtaken him for now on the national front and even in club football (and he's developing at an fine rate) but Rohr still rates Alampasu too just as he rates Uzoho which is why he still talks about him in interviews when the GK issue is brought up.

In the long run and for the long term benefits of the team, I forsee a huge healthy battle between Uzoho and Alampasu for the Super Eagles no 1 shirt. Both have the height too apart from their special talents. Throw in rising talents like Akpan David udoh, Nwokolor and a few others like Okoye and one or two unknowns and we may be in for a new rise of quality gks for this new generation.


On Maduka Okoye, he is the newest kid on the block... Yet to experience life in the GWG camp so he is behind Alampasu on that front but truly he is on Rohr's radar but certainly not as one to compete for the no.1 slot ahead of Russia. Mbanu naa.....Abeg... Let us not misunderstand one another here on this GK issue. Biko I am begging una....


For the future, the likes of Alampasu, Uzoho, Okoye, Nwokolor, Akpan David Udoh, etc will provide a fantastic pool of quality goalies with one or two among them hopefully becoming world class or near world class goalies....

But right now.... For this moment... We have the world cup in sight... And Rohr's mind is not made up yet but Akpeyi and Ezenwa are in the picture for now not forgetting Ajiboye.
And from among the talented rookies we have Uzoho and Alampasu in the picture too. Rumors of Maduka Okoye still lingers.....

Now, it's agreed that Okoye is not in the same higher level with Alampasu and he's not in the picture insofar as Rohr's pronouncement in regards to the world cup is concerned (but why em send coach go monitor am if that be the case?).


However, I totally agree all the goalkeepers mentioned by you are in contention for the number one spot in the future and I will like to add the Brazilian boy to the list but the truth most be told about the current positions of Alampasu and Maduka.

Truth is bitter though!

Most of our successful GKs actually went into first team football from the NPFL. Seems GKs are seen clearer from first team football in Africa than being 3rd choice in Europe.

On a serious note, I think ezenwa and maybe (60%) akpeyi are on there way to Russia. All these Maduka and Alampasu are not ready for such commitment. We can’t rush them, let’s give them time

The only thing against Alampasu is that he is not as active as Uzoho at club level. Now that makes Uzoho ahead for now. I do not speak of talent but I speak of development of both goalies at The moment. I know Alampasu have played Cup games and even kept clean sheet against FC Porto in previous seasons but right now, Uzoho also got two topflight games in the world's best technically proficient league.

On the national front, Uzoho has been tested for 45 mins in a game against Argentina while Alampasu was tested in game against Togo where he came on for Ezenwa and played 21 mins+ making a top drawer save too.

While attention has been focused on traditional heavyweights among whom will be the likely winner of the next installment of the World Cup this summer in Russia, world famous football blog, 90min.com, has tipped Nigeria's Super Eagles as one of the seven countries that will prove bookmakers wrong when the tournament gets underway in June.

Super Eagles will play traditional foe and potential winner, Argentina, Croatia and dark horse, Iceland in Group D which by all standards is a tough pairing for the three-time African champions to survive.

However, what is giving the respected blog the hope of Nigeria doing well in Russia is the achievement recorded by Eagles since Franco-German gaffer, Gernot Rohr, took charge for the African qualifying series and friendlies.

90min.com tipped Nigeria alongside six other countries namely; Denmark, Poland, Senegal, Sweden, Egypt and England as likely teams capable of going all the away to the final for the converted trophy in July.

"Another exciting African team is Nigeria, who haven't played at a major tournament since the 2014 World Cup after failing to qualify for either of the last two Africa Cup of Nations.

"People might be expecting Iceland, who reached the quarter-finals at Euro 2016 and qualified well for this tournament, and Croatia to be battling it out for second place behind Argentina in Group D, but the Super Eagles have more than enough talent to make a case of their own.

"What's more, finishing second would likely pair them with a French team not known for their spine or resilient tactics in the first knockout round," the popular blog remarked further.

In the build up to the World Cup, Super Eagles will play against Poland in Wroclaw on Friday, 23rd March while the game with Serbia is for The Hive, London on Tuesday, 27th March 2018.

Eagles are to cap their build up with the high-profile friendly against England at the Wembley Stadium in London few days to the kick off of the tournament in Russia.

Last year, Super Eagles surprised bookmakers with an emphatic 4-2 defeat of Argentina in an invitational friendly in Russia. sir...I will still advise uzoho to still remain in deportivo reason because he still has much to learn and moreover his team is in top 3 in Spanish division 3 meaning there is the possibility of promotion for his team...

I believe if he should play good football in Spanish division 2 he may get noticed by a good club not just in Spain may be elsewhere in Europe....he still young and there is still much he needs to learn.

and regarding alampasu....he should seek for a move elsewhere....probably in Europe or go for a loan may be wit a Nigeria club side....

I still believe right there in nigeria league we have good goal keepers....alloy agu and co have not really done their homework well...

I believe if we can get the likes of enyeama from the local league likewise we can get other good goalies too.....they abound...

Ezenwa Returns To Training After Injury Setback, Thankful To God

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, is back to training after the injury he sustained during the 2018 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Ezenwa who captained Nigeria to the tournament got injured in the semi-final against Sudan and could not be part of the final match against host nation Morocco which the home-based Super Eagles lost 4-0.

The FC Ifeanyi Ubah first choice goalkeeper posted a message on his facebook wall in the early hours of Thursday, thanking God for healing him, and also thankful to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the support given to him during his trying time.

“Special thanks to God almighty for healing me, Ezenwa is back to the field of play with joy,” the Super Eagles goalkeeper stated.

“And also thanks to my beloved fans all over the world for their prayers and concern they showed to me during the recovery process. God bless you all and I love you all.
“️️ also thanks to the NFF for their care and support throughout my stay in Abuja. God bless them.”

Ezenwa’s return will serve as a big boost to the Super Eagles
preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Nigeria will play both Poland and Serbia in international friendly games this month as part of the preparations towards the World Cup in Russia.

1.Peter Rufai was the first keeper to travel out for professional career,first with Dragon of Benin and moved to Lokeren in Belgium later Go ahead eagles in dutch league, fareinse in Portugal and Deportivo LA coruna in Spain.

2.Wilfred Agbonavbare moved from BCC lion of Gboko straight to Rayo Vallecano as number one and had a great time in la iga,remain the best Nigerian keeper in LA liga history followed by Peter Rufai who also had a stay with Deportivo LA coruna.

3.Alloy Agu moved from ACB if am right straight to starting eleven of MVV Maastricht in dutch league and had a great years before moving to Turkish league.

4.Ademola Bankole moved from shooting star to English championship club as number one and was damn good for his club,remain only local breed to move to England and command regular shirt as a keeper.

Mike,truly Nigeria goalkeeping future is bleak with our keepers keeping for reserve teams and youth teams in Europe.

Presently Uzoho is number four cos Deportivo recently got another keeper on loan from Russia league instead of promoting the young lad to the main team.

Alampasu third keeper in Portuguese league after some years with the club not encouraging.

Well Maduka is still growing cos we don't know what future hold for him being a German which will definitely shape his future.

Honestly i don't think these guys are better than what we have at home but do we blame Rohr cos Alloy Agu failed to produce a solid keeper for the team if not how on earth will Super eagles be chasing goalkeepers who are under tutelage for Eagles.

Excellent Sir, I had this argument with theGoodJoe when he said we should have done more for Dele Ajiboye, the truth is that the best place we can develop our Gks is here at home! The Gk department can easily be filled by anyone who trains intensively for a few years and most times the Europeans will fill up their Gk positions with Europeans. By the way what is the difference between a Gk in the Npfl/CCL and an Epl GK? Doesn't he also face 'second-bar' shots? One-on-ones? Penalties and freekicks and corner kicks? The solution to our GK department is in the local league. If someone like Alampasu is the first choice for Enyimba for example, he would have had enough exposure and if he makes it to the super eagles camp he would show what he can do, but in Portugal he has a permanent wooden seat, funny enough he is one of the best we have over there.

sir...I will still advise uzoho to still remain in deportivo reason because he still has much to learn and moreover his team is in top 3 in Spanish division 3 meaning there is the possibility of promotion for his team...

I believe if he should play good football in Spanish division 2 he may get noticed by a good club not just in Spain may be elsewhere in Europe....he still young and there is still much he needs to learn.

and regarding alampasu....he should seek for a move elsewhere....probably in Europe or go for a loan may be wit a Nigeria club side....

I still believe right there in nigeria league we have good goal keepers....alloy agu and co have not really done their homework well...

I believe if we can get the likes of enyeama from the local league likewise we can get other good goalies too.....they abound...

There was a nigerian who was the captain of the Barca B side when they were having a bad run of form around 2013(?), when Barca B managed to gain promotion what happened to him? Kicked out and I think deported, do you know what it means to be the captain? Yet he was kicked out. If Deportivo's team B gets into the second division, they will sign players into the team, Uzoho's continued stay there is not something we can bank on

Most of our successful GKs actually went into first team football from the NPFL. Seems GKs are seen clearer from first team football in Africa than being 3rd choice in Europe.

that is the way it is. In the GK department all that is required is your ability to pull off top saves and your ability to distribute the ball well. Just because we said Maduka is playing for the U18 does not mean he is playing against the best U18s in Germany, if you are good as an U18 you go straight to the first team, he is playing against people who are still learning the drill, strikers who can barely make clean contact with the ball, if you ask me I'd rather take Ajiboye that atleast faces fierce drives from a 40-year old Rabiu Alli without blinking. Then you have Uzoho who is almost in the same dilemma, division Three, as in division one, two and three, that says it all.
