the level of incompetence and highhandedness in this govt is prepostrous. The govt will still lose in the long run because they must still give them their demand at the end of the day, after wasting valuable time grandstanding for nothing.

At least, NASU should suspend this strike for a period ranging from 2weeks to 4weeks. A lot of things seems OK but is truly not. JAMB will be written this month of March, first semester exams for most universities will be written this month, NYSC Batch A stream 1&2 registration will commence this month of which most schools like UNIBEN has not cleared their graduated students. Most graduates who are processing international scholarships can't proceed because they can't access their transcripts. The list is endless.. NON ACADEMIC SERVICES IN SCHOOLS ARE ENORMOUS. please NASU suspend this strike for some weeks at this time. This government don't care about any of us, and we can't keep punishing ourselves because of the carefree government.

I will rather rebroadcast the above... grin

90% of the work being done by the so called non teaching staffs can be handled by student if work study program is introduced by Nigeria universities. To process transcript ordinary transcript o.... You spend several months...for better efficiency relieve 80% of the non teaching staffs of their work, university is meant for teaching and research not unionism... But after all said and done, Getting people to work should be paramount but NASU and co should stop turn make themselves cog in the wheel of progress by creating a sense of rivalry between them and those that actually do the teaching and research...what lab is a poly HND holder in NAT is facilitating that a graduate student cannot do better?

Its quite unfortunate that most of us are ill informed about the strike embarked upon by the JAC of the Three Non Teaching staff of the Nigerian Universities. Let's ask ourselves if we must be fair in our answer "can ASUU really do beyond teaching or is teaching the only work in the university system? Why this believe that its only the academic staff that is in the university? Is it the same practice outside Nigeria? Can the ASUU do the teaching and also clean the class rooms & hostels, pay itself salaries, do the practicals, mobilize students for Nysc, prepare the transcripts, certificates and all worths not?
Even in the wildlife, the lion alone can't survive even if it stoops low to eat grasses! What has happened to the law of division of Labour?
Why is our country out to make caricature of its self & its educational system, and we're happy clapping for them while their children are off the shores of Nigeria studying to come back and rule you and I? The strike is on for no virtually new demand but for an implementation of more than 8years agreement between both parties. If government can't honor agreements it entered into with unions not under duress then I wonder what its citenzery will be like. Instead of us picketing the government for not honoring agreements & keeping to her words, some of us are here blaming the unions & praising the government for its disappointments. Government of Nigeria in 1988 declared its gonna make education for all by the year 2000. Maybe they felt the earth might have been destroyed before 2000. This is 18years after, how many of its citizens are literates? Same failed promises inpower supply and we keep quiet, for how long will this continue
The minister of Education Adamu Adamu, Minister of Labour Chris Ngige and Minister of Agriculture Audu Ogbeh has not handled the strike action professionally, they should rather resign than their mercurian threat of no work no pay. The workers after all has been working on credit and are already saying "no pay no work".

Thank You Sir, A professor in the department of chemistry of Unilorin once said to one of His colleague in the lab. that they cant do what this people are doing and neither can they do theirs. its high time we tell ourself the truth and stop blaming JAC, Those people deserve what dey are asking for{ it's an agreement}. pay them and stop toying with the life of the students.
