hammer6F: Yet the same Eastern region government that was dominated by Igbos, watched as Oloibiri in Bayelsa that was within the same region was produced to claim a historic feat? What do you gain from all these hopeless lies? That oil was prospected and found to exist, is not the same as first commercial quantity? Besides, the first oil prospecting site in Nigeria, was in present day Ondo state, but was not found to be in commercial quantity. Stop trying to fight the history and significance of Oloibiri. At least, make an attempt to fight the Igbo in you. No wonder you are not trusted by those who know you so well. 2 Likes |

That was at least more than 20 years before the oil find in Oloibori, in the Niger Delta, which is prided as the first discovery in the country. According to documentary evidence, the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) knows this, but the corporation has not made much efforts to explore the oil ever since. Saturday Sun visited Ebonyi, Anambra and Enugu states recently, where mineral oil lie idle and waste. Indigenes of these places, where unexploited oil was discovered, are full of lamentation. Evidence of oil find in South East At Edda, Ebonyi State, Prince Sunny Ugwuocha, a calibration engineer and principal partner of an oil servicing firm in Lagos, confirmed knowledge of the existence of oil in his community. It was also the same with Mr. Nnachi Kalu, a chemist and petroleum analyst, who admitted to Saturday Sun his knowledge of oil in Edda, his native place. They said the oil find was in 1928, 83 years ago. Till date, the oil in Edda, with all the attesting documents at the National Archives in Enugu remains untapped. 10 Likes |

hammer6F: Looking for sympathy because the Igbos are becoming averse to information and would embrace idiocy so as to feel better about their failings relative to others? Do you remember a certain idiot who claimed he had the positive result of Igbo Jewish DNA, because he felt the news would not be reported globally, even in the country were the tests were done? He knew the type of Idiots he was herding. 1 Like |

hammer6F: You are talking 1928, while I am talking 1908 in Araromi Ondo. Which discovery is older? Was any found anywhere on Nigeria to be of commercial importance before Oloibiri? Why are you so bitter that Oloibiri which is not Igbo land, had to be given such deserving status? diana158: What a highly 'mumu-ish' endeavour. So this governor thinks that a building, is all it takes to attract international oil companies like Mobil to Akwa Ibom? Who told him Mobil cannot afford to build its own offices, over there? The Ibom specialist hospital that he should focus attention on, in order to stem medical tourism and earn revenue for the state, he has ignored it. The hospital is closed down, and he is now building a 21 storey building. Tomorrow, he will build them a housing estate. I laugh in Greek! DeLaRue: Don't mind Governor Udom. I think someone has infected him with a peculiar brand of ridiculousness. Pavore9: Good question!!! 1 Like |

The level of demonic tendencies Nigerians exhibit eh, nah die. How can a supposedly self acclaimed Akwa ibomite be crying over AKWA IBOM move to bring Mobil to Akwa Ibom from Lagos? What's sort of deception and treachery is this? How can a Yoruba man be claiming to be an Akwaibomite just to score cheap points on a faceless forum? In what planet would a genuine Akwa Ibomite be at the forefront of the opposition to this move? 10 Likes 1 Share |

Anyway, this is a good move, and I hope it works. Those who wants to eat their cake and have it can continue crying. Akwaibom is a stone throw from Abia, any good thing that happens to Akwa Ibom, soon or later trickles into Abia State. Good development. Akwa Ibom Ayaya! 10 Likes |

Did Exxon Mobil say they would move to Akwa Ibom because they building skyscraper? Getting multi billion dollar company to move HQ isn't as simple as a new office space. Look at Amazon right now. manny4life: Statoil is the world's largest offshore operator, with 20,500 employees and operations in over 30 countries worldwide. In Norway, Statoil operates more than 40 assets in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea, in addition to holding a significant number of exploration licences elsewhere, as well as operating one of the largest oil fields on the Norwegian continental shelf, producing more than 400,000 barrels a day. Yet, its offices are in Fornebu, just a few metres outside Oslo where its' unique head office is built, with a spectacular view over adjacent park areas and the fjord of Oslo - while its' group activities take place within Oslo (the Norwegian capital) and Bergen. |

pazienza: The question is, why are Akwa Ibomites supporting foolish and irresponsible decision to spend billions on any building just to force a private and foreign company to relocate to Akwa Ibom? What if they don't relocate after completing your multi-billion naira building? Will you take them to court or put them in handcuffs and drag them to Akwa Ibom? I know we have bad and terrible leaders today, but know we also have bad and terrible thinking bad leaders of tomorrow is very disheartening. 1 Like |

Blue3k: Stop blowing your cover . You almost got everyone fooled until you started meddling into IPOB issues, and then this! You are not as wise as I thought. What Akwa Ibom is doing is dangling the carrot before Mobil, by providing world class facilties for them, allow Mobil to decline before you bring your Yorubatic hate and envy for a people's progress here. Akwa Ibom is a safe haven and more secured than Lagos, with even less crime rate, it's less populated with greenery environment , beautiful non populated coastlines, etc. Mobil will move to Akwaibom, it was bound to happen soon or later, and it's the right moral thing to do. You can now continue your demonic wailing with your Yoruba cohorts, see who cares. 9 Likes |

deomelllo: Stop crying more than the beareved. We know your cries are coming from a devilish point of view. You want to keep what rightfully belongs to Akwaibom to yourselves. The amount AKSG would spend on this project would not be more than that your Tinubu and Fashola had embezzled from Lagos coffers. You have no point. The building would not only serve as Mobil headquarters, it would beautify the state skyline, enhance Her Aesthetic value and improve its tourist potential as a choice modern centre in Nigeria. 8 Likes 1 Share |

What matters is that they move to Akwaibom, where they rightfully belong, increase Akwaibom IGR, and enable the AKSG have more funds to continue her uncommon transformation of the state. Why are Nigerians this wicked, why are you this pained at returning to a people, a valuable asset of theirs that they were robbed off, and that you had enjoyed for decades? Shouldn't you be thankful for those years you ripped those people off by enjoying what rightfully belonged to them, and show gratitude by wishing them well now that they are about getting it back? pazienza: Lol you know this because they told you personally. What a bunch of nonsense. You think companies care about population and greeny. Why would companies be located in big cities 90% of time in places like New York, Houstan, London, Honk Kong, Dublin etc. This was a senseless retort. The Akwa Ibom vs Lagos crime is only decent point you made. The only issue is workers have been kidnapped more in Akwa Ibom. Just Google it. They already said they weren't interested in moving HQ. They listed reasons why. An office space wasn't one of them. Lol you guys obvisiously care why else would you clowns be throwing tantrums over this issue all the time. You probably in tour room making charms right now. The company said another reason why they wouldn’t relocate their head office was that their “primary federal government contacts in Nigeria” were based in Lagos. Again you don't commit money to a building unless you already consulted the other party. I doubt they will jump on opportunity without the other factors I listed. Tax incentives, saftey guarantees and OGFZ could sway their opinion. Source In a 2005 letter addressed to a U.S-based Nigerian environment activist, Tom-Mbeke Ekanem, the oil company said, “Mobil has three businesses in Nigeria which are managed by one Lead Country Manager. It is essential that the headquarters of each of those businesses be consolidated in one office where support services can be shared. 3 Likes 1 Share |

manny4life: Isn't that the same thing here, too? Mobil pays its corporate tax to the federal govt, and not to Lagos state. Any property taxes on its buildings in Lagos, are captured under Land Use Charges and paid to the state. Their operational base & housing estate in Eket in Akwa Ibom covers several acres, which is far more than the size of the plot their head office occupies in Lagos. So property taxes on their operational base in Eket, would go to the Akwa Ibom govt and not to Lagos. Gasoline taxes are captured by federal govt, and not by any of the state govts. Revenue from crude as well as oil and gas exploration activities, are also captured into fed govt coffers, not state govt. 2 Likes |
