Akwa Ibom state Government have began the construction of a 21 storey building for offices.

Speaking on efforts so far to ensure relocation of offices of International Oil Companies to the state, Commissioner of information Udoh said the ongoing 21-storey building embarked upon by Governor Udom Emmanuel would have state-of –the art facilities for offices.

"We know how much ExxonMobil is paying as tax to Lagos State government. Now we are constructing a 21 storey building with the intention to gradually increase it to about 30. This is a smart building with standard facilities for a modern office. So ExxonMobil would no longer have any excuse for not relocating to the state”. he said

The Mobil head Office in Lagos is about 7 - 8 storey building. Why is Udom building a 20 storey building for Mobil?

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

YORUBA GO AND PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS AND DEVELOP YOURSELF.

I TRUST AKWA IBOM, THEY HAVE VERY HIGH STANDARD WHEN IT COMES TO BUILDING.

IT TOOK AKWA IBOM A SHORT TIME TO BUILD THIS IN UYO.

SO, U CAN BET YOUR PANTS, THAT THEY WILL HAVE MOBIL BUILDING READY VERY SHORTLY.

Turkish citizens kidnapped in Akwa Ibom

According to him, the expatriates, who work for BKS Construction Company which is based in Onna, were seized by gunmen from a hotel in Eket, an industrial city which is home to Mobile, the Nigerian subsidiary of US oil giant Exxon.

Akwa Ibom is not safe for Exon Mobile and Oil workers. Facts don't lie.

Oil companies left because of lack of safety and security, violence and kidnappings.

You can not guarantee their safety and security with office building..

Lol you know this because they told you personally. What a bunch of nonsense you think companies care about population and greeny. Why would companies be located in big cities 90% of time in places like New York, Houstan, London, Honk Kong, Dublin etc. This was a senseless retort.

The Akwa Ibom vs Lagos crime is only decent point you made. The only issue is workers have been kidnapped more in Akwa Ibom. Just Google it.

They already said they weren't interested in moving HQ. They listed reasons why. An office space wasn't one of them. Lol you guys obvisiously care why else would you clowns be throwing tantrums over this issue all the time. You probably in tour room making charms right now.

Federal government contact in Lagos? Well, Akwa Ibom can arrange that. With a modern functional airport, they could always stay in contact with Lagos and Abuja.

As for the rest of your drivel, I would let Akwaibom people do justice to that.

I'm off.

Lol you guys are funny you celebrated a building without thinking of what Exxon wanted. Maybe they can arrange federal contact but the same Akwa ibom government building real estate in lagos to meet with investors in lagos. Why didn't they just strange for them to come to Akwa Ibom is the airport not good enough anymore?

Anyway again the state will have to consider their other issue. The best way to get deal is to talk to Exxon Mobil and broker deal. A new building nobody asked is dumb. Tax incentives, saftey guarantees and OGFZ could sway their opinion.

In a 2005 letter addressed to a U.S-based Nigerian environment activist, Tom-Mbeke Ekanem, the oil company said, “Mobil has three businesses in Nigeria which are managed by one Lead Country Manager. It is essential that the headquarters of each of those businesses be consolidated in one office where support services can be shared.

“Lagos offers each of those businesses a convenient and well-suited hub from which all three businesses can be efficiently conducted and coordinated by that manager.”

Source

The company said another reason why they wouldn’t relocate their head office was that their “primary federal government contacts in Nigeria” were based in Lagos.

Source

Governor Emmanuel who reacted to the current state of the existing Governor’s lodge in Lagos wondered if the opposition elements wanted high profile meetings with consular generals and international business executives to be held in such a dilapidated building.

Source

^^^ Why is Akwa Ibom running to Lagos and trying to drag Exxon HQ out Lagos at same time?

The only truth here is the fact that because of the backwardness and the poor safety and security situation in Akwa Ibom, Akpabio's wife and children lived on Lagos when he was the governor Akwa Ibom.

My brother, I am proudly igbo.
But u no get sense. U can't be making all sorts of claims without sources to back it up.
Just face it, that project is stupid. Waste of cash. If an IOC like mobil ever plans to relocate to AKS, they will bulld thier own office. U cant force them down south just because u built an office for them.

And do you even understand Nigeria tax laws? Who told that IOC pays company income tax at all? And who told u the tax goes to a state government?

All these Igbos here arguing, what's the issue?
Akwa ibom Is not an Igbo state, so why the noise?
How many times do you see Akwa ibomites fighting for you people here or defending Igbo interest here?
Must you people always behave like sacrificial lamb all the time?
Tufiakwa.

Mobil can continue to stay in Lagos if they want, I support it.

All these badbelle people. Why are you disturbing yourself over Akwa ibom/ND matter?

All IOC will relocate to their operational bases, when the time is ripe.
They all know it and we all know it. that time is drawing closer.

No need for too much talk, the handwriting is on the wall. It will be relocate or sale your assets to those who are willing to relocate and go home, It is already happening, IOC are liquidating assets in Areas they dont fancy.

The ss have allowed their States to become kidnap havens. Nonody is going to bring his staff to your state if you cannot guarantee security. I don't even believe Mobil or any other oil company will accept a building not designed or supervised by them.

The same people that built could deliberately leave different ducts or hidden doors for kidnappers and thieves to sneak in.

Yes, they are liquidating their assets and it is Nigerians that are losing. Shell has left warri, and all the jobs and trickle down are gone. No Nigerian owner will give the sort of benefits and remuneration you get from an ioc. They will just chop all the money, strip the assets, cut safer to zero and be forming billionaire all over the place.

is there no kidnapping in Lagos? lagos has the highest crime rate in the country.

Lagos is the only state in Nigeria where kids are kidnapped from their schools, outside the North east where boko haram operates.

there has never been any case of school kids kidnap in Akwa ibom.

Thats how bad it is. Once 'opportunities' dried up, different ND thugs relocate to Lagos to bunker, Rob banks and kidnap. Where else would they have gotten the money for heavy weaponry?

Are you also trying to compare crime in lagos, with the sort of crime in the ND. Don't make me laugh abeg. No be your ND governors eg wike dey do fake amnesty up and Dan? Are we not regularly seeing edifices of crime kingpins? Are never do well militants not role models?

21 stories to avoid excuses of not enough space. Ibom Hospital is not dead its alive and well, it is undergoing change of management. the former mgt. were not making returns and were trying to blackmail the state govt. AKSG called their bluff.

The new GOV. is an accountant, he doesn't tolerate a business that dont make profit after investment.
