I came to visit my kid brother in my mum's shop where they sell provision. Just immediately before I showed up, a man raved incoherently against my little brother, bullied and frightened him because the poor boy reminded him politely that he still owes him very small amount of money. At the course of his ranting, he angrily told my brother that he seemed to be an expert at embarrassing and insulting people. But this kid asked of the money privately and in a low tone. This happened after the man had bought another thing, paid for it and as he tends to leave the shop.

Some seconds before the departure of this man, I entered, saw my brothers countenance, asked what happened because it's quite obvious that the neighbours' reactions and looks proved that a scene has been created. He explained bitterly, all that transpired to me. He further disclosed to me that he is a known debtor in virtually all the shops, that shopkeepers and petty traders in the neighbourhood have all chased him away. I was also told that he is a SOLDIER. Unbelievable! I've known soldiers to exude a quiet and serene attribute in their vicinity and when not in uniform. You know, certainly, I philosophized over this shameful demeanour and this his ideosyncrasy.

I became very furious; full of rage. Is it a crime to ask for money owed? Part of the proceeds from this shop is used in this boy's upbringing. Are soldiers suppose to protect or harm us?

However, I told my brother to call me whenever this man in question comes again. I planned to confront him dearly should he ever chides again, as in, overreact when asked to pay up his debt. And I am ready to fight him right there if the nagging degenerates, provided he is not in army uniform.

Finally, owing to this, I write to ask if it's wise to fight him if need be. At least, if he had begged or sounded reasonable and friendly, such debt can be waived for him, instead, he chose to showcase his military muscles, indifference and cantankerous temperament.

OP, you are not allowed to fight anybody. If you are offended, seek redress in a court.

Tanx, but this is very disheartening, hw can he be the talk of town in this arena? Ripping people off their hard earned money. U kno that corruption has eaten deep into justice in dis country. Such case mite still be judged to favour them.

I know going to court might even be tasking, considering the long process involved. My suggestion to you is, if you are sure you are truly innocent, go to where he serves, seek permission to speak with the military police, I am telling you, the problem will be resolved and you will be happy. My uncle who is a lecturer was involved in some disagreement with a soldier and the soldier was wrong, the steps I described above is what he took and it was well treated.
Don't be scared, forget these noise they are making that soldiers will do you this and that. Go to where he is serving, whoever you see at the gate, explain to them, they will allow you in or even assist you.

Why not? Ofcause you can, at your own risk.

To fight a soldier, start with a right upper-cut, when he tries to counter-punch, follow up with a straight left, and then a rapid-fire combination of punches that will keep your adversary on the back foot, and staggering under the bombardment you deliver with precision and tenacity.

Finally, finish him off with a round-house kick to the gonads, after which I would strongly advise that you relocate to a remote village in northern China, so as to be absent when your badly beaten sparring partner summons reinforcements from the nearest barracks, and those trucks start to mobilize in the direction of your former home.

Fighting him ,definitely is at your own peril and you might end up losing the case because after the fight he has backup whereas you don't have any.
I would advice you to seek for his name and batch number, proced to his posted station then file a complain military police because they are the body that checkmate excess of Military officers.

Calling for backup is the hallmark of our cowardly soldiers. Calling for backup because you're dealing with Boko Haram abi wetin? For a simple matter with a civilian. If you can't fight man to man with a single civilian and beat him, then you should be too ashamed of yourself as a soldier to call for backup. You should simply take your bloodied face back to the barracks and lick your wounds.

God knows how much I hate these smelly animals called soldiers who always rely on their numbers, the so-called backup, to intimidate unarmed civilians.
