Fulanis are now intermarrying their way into the elites of Yoruba land just like they did with Hausas and have been doing in Ilorin.

Very soon it will now be Fulani-Yoruba as one ethnic group of the South-west. grin

Now imagine if this Ajimobi's son becomes the governor of Oyo state tomorrow and fulani herdsmen started attacking Oyo state. Do you think he will be hard on the fulani herdsmen? Hell NO! He will never want to hurt his wife's people. ... Infact it will start from now. Watch how Gov Ajimobi will start pampering fulani herdsmen in Oyo state. Fulani herdsmen are now 1st inlaws of Oyo state grin

Exactly what is happening in Nasarawa, no matter how fulanis kill Nasarawa indigenes, Al-Makura is never disturbed. His wife and first lady of the state is a fulani woman and he will never want to hurt his wife's people.

Fulanis are very smart people. Marry into the elite class of a place and gain very strong influence there.

You are talking rubbish. The governor is just about to complete his second term in office and recently went hard on the herdsmen in Oyo, even going as far as citing his son's impending marriage to a Fulani as not enough justification to allow herdsmen criminality in the state. Besides, Oyo people have a long history of not taking crap from Fulani criminals posing as herdsmen.

Why didn't you type this when Ondo state governor Akeredolu assumed office with an Igbo wife as first lady?

Or have you forgotten that the former governor Mimiko with a Yoruba wife, did not even raise an eyelid when the foolish Eze Ndigbo of Akure was flogged mercilessly by the Deji of Akure palace guards and youths, for daring to insult the king and appointing Igbo chiefs for Akure.

What would have happened if Governor Akeredolu was governor then with an Igbo first lady, and an unruly set of Igbo traders were delusional in the estimation of their own importance?

I cannot speak for the Igbos, but I know that they are not as power drunk as the fulanis and certainly do not have agendas to dominate others like the fulanis.

Fulanis are oppressing Hausas in their own land today, but Hausas will never do anything about it cos most Hausa elites have fulani wives and mothers.

This act of intermarriage is an ancient strategy used by kingdoms to cement ties and everlasting bonds with one another.

Check the history of Sudan (the Nubians) how they were heavily islamized & arabized today. It was through intermarriage to a lot of Arab women. The Arabs clearly used this intermarriage strategy after they failed to conquer Sudan in war. Did they succeed at the end? Of course!

They should quietly. You do not blare horns of line array speakers in festivity on a hill that mourns; especially if you have some responsibility to pre forestall the mourners pain!

Stop beating around.

You raised a critical point of possible conflict between 2 tribes and where the loyalties of the leader is divided in the need to take executive decisions that might affect the tribe of the first lady.

I have given you an instance where an immigrant tribe considered itself too important to be disturbed by the invitation of the king and the concerns of the traditional nobility over the appointment of chiefs by an immigrant commoner who mistook association presidency as kingship.

It was in this same state that a Yoruba governor with an Igbo wife later assumed power. So if you fear for the future of Oyo state that a young Ajimobi with a Fulani wife might be governor in future, why do you not fear for the current reality of a Yoruba man with an Igbo first lady, in an Ondo state where Igbo's have proven to be a nuisance that had to be resolved?

u said "fulanis are smart by marrying Yoruba elites" pls can u state 3 other marriages apart from this one between fulani and Yoruba?

and why is it okay for other tribes to get married to Yoruba but an offence for a fulani to do the same?

I think your background and environment is the cause of such suspicion, which is understandable, but you are taking it too far. Oyo people are arguably the most Yoruba conscious and militant clan of the race, and it is close to impossible for the Alaafin, Olubadan, and other Oyo Obas to tolerate emirate on Oyo soil. It is too late for such to happen. But really if we all start to assume this kind of thinking and posture, na to dey pray say make the marriage break be dat. lipsrsealed. And hostility towards each other will become the order of the day. But as long as Nigeria remains one this sort of intertribal relationships will be occurring from time to time.

I am not beating around the bush cos I gave you examples didn't I?

I have never seen a previous case where an Igbo wife or first lady manipulates a leader to favour her people in another land. ....But Nasarawa state is a practical example of how a fulani 1st lady favours her people. I also used the Hausa elites as an example.
Find out if what I am saying is wrong or not.

Fulanis have proven times without number to be a sneaky and manipulative bunch.

Perhaps you should read this thread below and see the way your fellow Ilorin yoruba man is emphasizing on the intermarriage btw his people and the fulanis in Ilorin as a reason why his people can never wrestle away power from fulanis in Ilorin by force.

Yes I fully understand your point about Oyo people.

But what about Ilorin? Were they not a branch of Oyo people? What is the reality there today?

Majority of the Ilorin elite yoruba families are half fulani by blood. One reason why they can be hardly against fulani ever.

You cannot compare Ilorin to any other town or city in Oyo or anywhere else in Yorubaland. What happened then CANNOT happen again today. Ilorin was a rebel town that had cut itself off from Oyo since the time of Afonja, this was the reason why it eventually became an emirate. Even in Kwara of today (and indeed in the entire Yorubaland), Ilorin is the only Yoruba town/city with an emirate, while the rest have Obas. If it were possible, the emirate would have long since expanded into other Yoruba towns in the state but that has not happened because the Yoruba clans collectively fought against Ilorin expansionist ambitions even as far back as then, and have since rejected the emirate system, in spite of having a significant muslim population. Oyos are predominantly Muslims but they are also very steeped in Yoruba traditional religion and culture, which makes it practically impossible for them to welcome an emirate system that will seek to obliterate their cultural practices and identity.

Or did you thinks fulani are the only one that fought the yorubas to grab hold of ilorin?
If any is yes, then you are mistaken .. Bcus afonja's were the one who wants to seperate from yoruba, thereby rebelling...

Now they want to comeback

I'm sorry if you must have miscontrued my comment. I am not suggesting that Yoruba land will accept emirates or become emirates.

I am just talking about how a gradual penetration and apologistic tendencies in respect to the fulanis on the part of yoruba elites could be easily exploited by the fulanis if this elite intermarriage continues.

You should know the power elites wield in our part of the world. A penetration into the elite class in our part of the world can have very terrible consequences on the masses, irrespective of the opinion of the masses.

With all the millions of educated yorubas from Kwara state. Saraki family and other Ilorin elites are still controlling the state like a private estate.
