safarigirl:The waka waka person will claim the indigeneship of his father's state but the man who has put roots down in a particular place should be allowed to enjoy indigeneship status. Ultimately I'm looking at a situation that would reduce the power of tribalism. It's a small start but in the long run it would help. Oyibo dey ascribe nationality to foreign people wey dem just born for their country but for us to extend indigeneship to a Nigerian person wey don spend ten years for one place inside Nigeria na issue? |

Mujtahida: Are any of these guys better than the Yobo of past. The fact we are considering below average players as our first choice tells us something is wrong with our football. We just don't seem to have the quality we once use to have. It's a case of, if the desirable is not available then the available becomes desirable. 1 Like |

Mujtahida: This is at the heart of the Nigerian problem irrational support for indegenes even when they are fleecing yoi dry. Obama is effectively a Kenyan but he was President of the USA for two very popular terms. Shockingly Ibo third generation man born in Sokoto will not win a councillor election in that state. We have a long way to go. |

Idowu: Messi’s Argentina Tough, But Eagles Can Handle Croatia, Iceland; Mikel, Ndidi Important Super Eagles defender Brian Idowu reckoned the team is in a tough Russia 2018 World Cup group but backs the three-time African champions to scale through the first round hurdle, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. Gernot Rohr’s men have been placed in Group D along with two-time world champions Argentina, France ’98 semi-finalists Croatia and debutants Iceland for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Idowu, who made his debut for Nigeria in the 4-2 international friendly win against Argentina in November, stated that it will be difficult to beat the Albiceleste again especially with Barcelona forward Lionel Messi in the squad. “We got a hard group. Argentina are the top team in the group and they have Lionel Messi who is difficult to play against. He is probably from another planet,” Idowu who plays for Russian club Amkar Perm told m.sovsport.ru . “But we can beat Croatia and Iceland. It is a powerful group but we can qualify to the next stage.” The left-back also mentioned the three players he believes will be the key men for the Super Eagles in Russia. “Obi Mikel is the leader. He won everything with Chelsea and there is also Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi with Leicester City.” The Super Eagles will open their campaign at the Mundial against Croatia on June 16 at the Kaliningrad Stadium. https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/idowu-messis-argentina-tough-eagles-can-handle-croatia-iceland-mikel-ndidi-important/ |

komekn:It's very regressive kind of thinking. And yet we'd attack the white man for charities we cannot even extend to ourselves. Safarigirl look at this scenario: an Igede man is born and brought up in Ondo State and has lived there for 17years.He has very little link with Benue State except the nominal fact that he's from Benue State. Now it's admission time. He wants to apply to Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State owned institutions yet they don't want to admit him cos he's not an indigene. He'd have to back to Benue or any Federal University within his catchment area if he is to go to university. Why all the suffering when we can make things easier for ourselves? Let's change the policy first for the man who has put roots down in a place. After that we have gained that foothold we can proceed to make laws for the waka waka man. Incremental changes. You get? |

Mujtahida:put roots in which father's place? Okay, where will someone like me put roots? The father's place I have little to no memory of? We are citizens of nowhere, we belong to everybody and we belong to nobody ![]() Nigeria isn't just made up of states like oyibos, we are made up of ethnic groups as well, that is what causes tribalism, it is not the state of origin. So, indigeneship would mean, if my parents are Igbo and I grew up in Kano, I will be Hausa. It is easy to talk about how the oyibos do it, forgetting that the oyibos do not have hal the amount of ethnicities we have as a nation. We have the most ethnic groups in all of Africa, so, this idea may sound great to the ears, but the implementation is so much more technical than you would wish. Nigeria is complicated, too complicated to be modeled after any nation 2 Likes |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by safarigirl(f): 10:39am On Mar 04, 2018 |
Mujtahida:that scenario is diffetent from what I have in mind. That has to do with quota system and federal character. Those things should have no place in Nigeria, people should not be admitted based on where they are from, America has affirmative action, but they don't limit you to state of origin/residence. You as a Florida native, can school in any other state. That is different from indigebdship IMO, any Nigerian should be allowed to school anywhere in Nigeria, irrespective of state of origin. University of Abuja practices that, it is equal representation for all 36 states plus FCT, it is the most diverse school in Nigeria, if I say so, and all states should practice that. But, I look at this from a cultural angle. An Igede man who has grown up in Yoruba land, for instance, what will his traditional beliefs be like? Which traditional wedding or funeral will he do? According to whose beliefs will he live? Those he learns from people in his environment or what his parents teach him? I am looking at this from a cultural perspective, you guys are looking at it from the surface level, the contemporary aspect. |

safarigirl:The bolded shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the point. Indigene doesn't mean aborigine. According to the example, You'd need not be Hausa. You are Igbo, a Nigerian from Kano State in Nigeria. Igbo of Kano State, Yoruba of Enugu State, Hausa of osun state will break the stranglehold of tribalism Let's rest it. Them go say we dey pollute the thread with politics. 1 Like |

Either will an an Hausa man who was born and raise in Anambra win a councilor ship post there. we have no identity as a unit for now so it will continue. Until we have one major factor that unites us more than our ethnic affiliation, this won't change. America have one unifying factor which is to be great and remain a world power as long as possible and that alone succeeds who you're as a person as long as you are fit to make this factor a reality. komekn: |

Do u know why? We filled a form so tey u go write ur local govt in enugu plus ur village name sef. As an Abian the thing weakened me. |

If Etebor is to make the list to the WC, which position is he likely to perform best at and who's to be sacrificed for him? Because it seems Amadu and the NFF indirectly wants him in Russia based on the fact that he gets to play against major players from our group opponents and he's also doing well so far. |
