Hello ddare05, If your son wishes to apply for a B1/B2 visa, he will need to fill in the DS-160, pay the application fee and book an appointment. Please see https://ng.usembassy.gov/visas/ LagosNIV ddare05: |

Hello ebencoreal - We do not manage the SEVIS payment/I-20 process. It is advisable to bring proof of payment (such as bank statements) with you to your interview. We do not comment on any applicant’s chances for getting a visa. LagosNIV ebencoreal: |

Hello oloks2- Apologies for not responding before your appointment, hopefully you did not run into problems. For others who may have this issue, we will be able to correct your passport number during your appointment. Bring your passport photo with you and we will rescan it during the intake process.
Hello Abujaniv Please am new on this platform and new to obtaining any visa as well so please can you explain what SEVIS, DS-160, F1 visa and F2 visa is In addition, I applied for masters this summer, and as regards the bank statement, I have someone with a US account as my sponsor but he said he doesn't have up to the amount the school is requesting for as the school fees. Is this going to be a problem?. Is it going to serve as a platform for the consular to deny one visa if I tender a bank statement with not up to the amount of the school fees?. Although, the man said he is ready to drop his working documents which according to him is more relevant as it is acknowledged by the US government. Will this be acknowledged by the interviewers at the Embassy? Thanks |

Hello, I've been refused a student visa 4 times with Lincoln University I20 as an MBA student. I reached out to Harvard with my stats and I was advised towards summer school so I can transition into a Management program in the fall. Do I stand a chance with my Harvard summer school I20 or try another school for Msc in fall? |

Dear Aforapple- We cannot comment on an individual’s chances for getting a student visa. You must decide what is in your best interest, then proceed with that action. LagosNIV Aforapple: |

Dear Wine52- We do not have a list of ‘red flag’ universities. All applications, for any University, will receive the same scrutiny at the visa interview. We suggest you do the necessary research to find the best universities for you and your future, then apply to them. Worry about the visa later. LagosNIV

|

Dear Dewumi054- SEVIS https://www.ice.gov/sevis/students I-20 forms https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/what-is-the-form-i-20. A good resource to learn about student visas is https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/study.html and http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-typefandm.asp You will need to provide proof that you, or your sponsor, can fund the dollar amount shown on your I-20. This typically includes all costs of tuition, insurance, and room and board. This must be liquid funds, readily available. You must also prove that they have the ability to fund your continuing education. If you cannot prove this, then it can lead to a visa denial. LagosNIV Dewumi054: 1 Like |

Hello LagosNIV, I recently got my i20 to study in the United States for Fall 2018 (2nd Bachelor's degree). However it says on the i20 that "Lessons begin on the 23rd of August 2018" and "Earliest admission date is July 15". When can I apply for a visa? Should I start counting 3 months backwards from August 23rd or July 15? I also want to know if it's 100% required that I present my original Bachelor's degree during the visa interview because the ongoing NASU strike has been halting that process since December 2017. I've got my transcript which I used in obtaining the admission and all other documents ready. Please reply. Thanks |

Dear koolkesh- You will need to provide proof that you, or your sponsor, can fund the dollar amount shown on your I-20. This typically includes all costs of tuition, insurance, and room and board. This must be liquid funds, readily available. You must also prove that they have the ability to fund your continuing education. If you cannot prove this, then it can lead to a visa denial. It is always to the applicant’s advantage to be truthful during their interview. This includes stating whether they have friends or family in the US. Writing standardized tests are not required to obtain a visa. LagosNIV koolkesh: |

Re: U.S. Student Visa (F1, M1, & J1) Forum - We're Listening by Nobody: 12:48pm On Mar 09, 2018 |
Dear bidemi1190- An F1 visa is a standard 2 year duration, but this does not determine how long you can remain in the US. The duration is dependent on how long your school has defined your program to be, and how long your I20 has been approved for. Program duration (including any OPT) determines how long your SEVIS will be active for. An F1 student can remain studying in the US as long as their SEVIS is active. Once a SEVIS is no longer active (completed/canceled/terminated), a student has 30 days to depart the US. If a student is studying on an active SEVIS, but their visa has expired, they are still ‘in status’ and can remain in the US. If a student has an expired visa and chooses to leave the US, but they still have an active SEVIS, then they will need to apply for a visa renewal before they can return to complete their studies. Dear osaman2011- We can only issue an F1 visa 120 days or less from the PROGRAM START DATE. A student is allowed to enter the US 30 days before program start date. You do not need to provide a copy of your original Bachelor’s degree during your visa interview. LagosNIV osaman2011: 1 Like |

Please i have an interview coming up soon for my Master and I have been working for 7 years now with a good pay. But due to the drive in technology the company is channelling it resources towards that, the reason for me opting for masters. So I can make significant impact towards this paradigm. Dear VO, Please I am attending my graduation in the USA after completing my online MBA with my mum and I kindly seek your opinion on the following 1. Please what detail should I fill in : "Address where you will stay in the U.S."? is it the school's address or the hotel I will lodge's address? 2. Also how do I link my mums application with mine so that we are both interviewed together? 3. I have uber apart from my normal work so what should I provide in the salary section? should I add the monthly uber money with my salary or only my salary? Kindly help me, my visa category is b1/b2 Thank you for your assistance

Hello LagosNIV and abujaniv, Please I have a question, my sister recently changed her status from B1/B2 visa to F1 visa while in the US with a good reason but now she wants her husband and kids to visit. Do you think the issue of the visa not being physically in her passport will affect the chances of her family getting an F2 visa or should they apply for B1/B2 visa since they are coming back after visiting. Thanks |

Hello VO, Please I need your advise. I went for an interview on Friday,21st of March, 2018. After the interview, I was told by the consular that more time would be needed to review my case and was handed over a form with 'Administrative Processing' written on it. I was not happy because I will be going for my Masters program next month and will need to book a flight and conclude other arrangement. My passport, bank statement and F1 form was taken from me. Later in the evening that same day, I tracked the status of my VISA application and it is showing "Refused" on the U.S Department of State site but showing "your passport is still with the us embassy/consulate" on VISA application site. Right now, I am confused. What should i be expecting. |
