another stadium?

you mean a governor went for the construction of another stadium?

how much is this project in the first place
Udom must be one of the most clueless governors in the South-south. angry The existing stadium in Akwa Ibom is underutilised, and now he wants to construct another one? To do what.... exactly? shocked

The Ibom Specialist Hospital was closed down, under the excuse of lack of funds to run it. Instead of connecting that hospital directly to the national grid, so that it would have a stable source of electricity, in order to put a stop to the wasted funds spent in powering that hospital with diesel generators 24x7, Udom is constructing another stadium that nobody needs!

Which one is more important? Resuscitating a specialist hospital that can provide the very best tertiary care to citizens in Akwa Ibom state and beyond, or building a flamboyant stadium that nobody needs at this present time?

I don't see how this project is a white elephant project». During campaign he promised to give eket people a good stadium, call it what you want, he is just doing what he promised and the poeple wanted.

Chai angry This is obviously another source to loot funds by this Udom. The useless governor is not even imaginative in the least. He is copying Akpabio's how to loot manual to the last letter. Very useless governor. May he lose in next year's election
thank GOD u're seeing what I'm seeing. Imagine a state with so much money from revenue and other sources, and all the clueless governor can do is to be building stadia 'upandan', instead of him developing the human/economic capacity of the state.. No functional investment that can accommodate the teaming population of graduates in the state. Very foolish of the udom administration I must say. I pray sense falls on Udom Emmanuel . The stadia in London are well utilised by all the different football clubs in London, and each stadia earns enough revenue from various matches to cover its' maintenance, and its upkeep. How many events does the Akwa Ibom stadium in Uyo host every year, and how much revenue does it make?

SMH ! so what is wrong with what the governor is doing?
is it wrong to make another stadium? NO !
you all that are saying he should not have made it are stupid and have such a backward mind. so akwaibom should have just one stadium? how many stadia does london have ? or manchester have ? huh? you all are saying it's a waste of money. is it your money? the governor is doing other things in the state like factories, good roads, creating jobs etc.it's not as if he is not doing any other thing. damn ! why are some nigerians so backward? and to the people saying the stadium won't be maintained, you are just saying gibberish. the stadium in uyo is still in good shape and it's not being used by hoodlums as you all claim. so just close your mouth and welcome the development. angry angry angry

the state is currently hosting a big sports festival with over 12,000 Athletes Okay? the state hosts other events as well. do not forget that the state's football team (akwa united) has so many supporters. (the stadium has a capacity of 33,000) and these supporters buy tickets weekly To Support Their Team. Which Means The State Makes millions on every match day which is in turn used to maintain the stadium. don't forget the sports festival i told you about earlier.

For me, I think there's no need for this project. Akpabio already built a magnificent stadium which even the national team is using for games. Why not use that money and develop rural communities? Build factories and employ people. That's the mentality we are lacking in this part of the world. Why won't our government do things that will create jobs for the youths?

Jeez! Wtf Are You Saying? Don't You Know That The Government Have Made Many Factories That have created jobs for people? and don't you know that this stadium will create so many jobs for the youth? from the cleaners, to the security men, to the people that sell food, drinks and snacks, to the pitch maintainers.....i could go on and on... so before you comment on a post, think twice.... you don't have to see everything as bad okay? don't be so pessimistic. this is a very good development.

I think no need for a stadium since it's a sort of suburban settlement .A recreational community center with track & soccer field, swimming pool,Basketball court, Tennis courts etc, with a few 100 or thousand seats ,perhaps indoors would be much better at the same price. It could serve a population of at least 70,000. A place for public recreation,Olympic trials, and could also be used for minor tournaments such as All African games. Those of you who live in developed nations know what i'm talking about .
And the roads should have markings ,sidewalks and basic traffic signs such as :Stop , School zone, speed limit .Don't forget to cover the drainage (gutter) with the sidewalk . Examine my sketch and go do your homework. Replicate that in all the communities or towns .

Also ,do not forget to ban and criminalize street hawking ,child labor, littering, and just random street loitering .

please canyon post more of these pictures.

It's almost impossible to do things as rightly as you want here in Nigeria. Your idea remains a dream we all pray for but resist its manifestation.

Do you have an idea on the cost of building your suggested facility ? Also let me know the website that I can get more information for more feasibility studies on it.

In naira and kobo terms, how much does the Uyo stadium make? Does it make enough to cover the costs of its maintenance, and its upkeep? If costs of maintenance and upkeep, exceed the revenue it makes, then it is operating at a deficit! shocked And for your information, not all supporters buy tickets to watch matches. A lot of dignitaries get free tickets, and there are also quite a lot of tickets sold below cost, in Nigeria.

The fact that a stadium is full, does not mean that millions are rolling in. sad Or have you seen a copy of the stadium's accounts statement before?

Residents of Uyo and other football enthusiasts can now watch tomorrow's Super Eagles clash with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the stadium for cheap. Super eagles supporters especially the teeming indigenes of Akwa Ibom State have been availed the opportunity of watching the high class Nations Cup qualifier between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Bafana Bafana of South Africa for only one thousand naira (N1,000).

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of youth and sports Sir Monday Ebong Uko who confirmed this in Uyo on Wednesday said hosting a top notch match like this cost millions, and one is expected to recuperate some expenses from the gate, yet the Sports loving Governor Udom Emmanuel led government will rather crash the gates to allow fans to fill the stadium and cheer the Eagles to victory at virtually no cost. https://www..com/talk/topic,335686.0.html

The Paul Chibuzor led Management of Rangers In’t FC of Enugu, are currently in a running battle with club owners, the Enugu State government, over their alleged continuous declaration of false amount realised from gate takings during the club’s night home matches in the ongoing Nigeria professional football league NPFL.

Rangers management charges N1000 for VIP seats, N400 for cover stand, while the popular area of the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium is N200 during all its home matches.

DAILY POST gathered that a case in hand is the week 19 encounter between the team and Heartland FC of Owerri.
A source close to the state ministry of Youth and sports who craved anonymity, hinted that the state government is bitter with the lack of transparency and accountability which it said, had over the years, remained the style of the club’s leadership.

Angered by the alleged insincerity in handling the team’s funds, the Commissioner in charge of Sports in the state, Charles Ndukwe, it was learnt, has issued Rangers marketing manager, Ignatius Okafor, query over the 700,000 (seven hundred thousand naira) the management declared as proceed from the week 19th Rangers/ Heartland match in Enugu.

According to the source, the query was issued after officials of the sports ministry did a simple Arithmetic on the number of tickets that were printed and sold during the said week 19th game. http://dailypost.ng/2016/07/08/match-ticket-sales-scandal-rocks-rangers-international/
