ALADE4J2: they usually dont give refunds on hospital stay. i know u can give refunds for services not rendered like payment on epidural if not used. but there is no harm in asking if the hospital didnot state it. All the best |

Hi Friends, New on this great group.I kindly need advice. My wife and I just renewed our B1/B2 visas via drop box and have decided to go for childbirth. We have all the correspondences with the doctor which we obtained after the visa was issued and will receive a formal acceptance letter from the doctor after he would have received from our Nigerian doctor DW's medical history. We intend to pay our medical bills on receipt of the invoice from the doctor before travelling out.Accommodation is settled. However in view of the repeated counsel on this group that it is preferable to have a medical visa for birthing we are thinking of making a fresh visa application for a medical visa but the interview date may well be after our intended date of travel and DH maybe ineligible to travel due to closeness to EDD. It is said that an interview date may be expedited with genuine reasons? The alternative is to as some of us have done send change of intent letter before trip ,tell the truth at POE with all burden of proof and expect a favourable discretionary entry. Kindly advise. Thank you I hasten to add that DH n DW both work in Nigeria n have sufficient ties to the country with other kids. |

Hello people, please is it true that Dr E of Oakbend now sands $100 for appointment letters? I referred a friend to them who told me this. Please confirm dear moms. |

There is no need to go for a fresh application, you don't need it, your b1/b2 covers medicals, all u need to do is send a letter to the embassy about ur intention, even though most people are of the opinion that this letter is irrelevant and doesn't add any credit to your future application, but some people have shared how this same letter made poe easier, so the choice is your, just have all your documents(you would know them by reading though post here) good luck. Okoloba: I don't think you should bother with a new visa. If you reapply for medical reasons,it's the same b1/B2 visa you'll be issued, the only difference is that you've stated your reasons up front.so why bother reapplying. Just do as you plan i.e,write the intent letter, pay your bills upfront before traveling and arm yourself with all the necessary burden of proof, I'm almost certain you'll be fine. Best of luck. |

Okoloba: Did you declare your intention to use the visa for child birth? |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Okoloba: 8:24am On Mar 06, 2018 |
justwise:No.As stated earlier the decision to use the visa for childbirth was taken after the visa was issued and owing to what may be termed as misrepresentation informed my seeking advice from the forum. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by OmoBendel24: 9:12am On Mar 06, 2018 |
Okoloba: Sorry please, am I correct to say in essence she was pregnant before the Dropbox application, just that using the visa for birthing wasn't on the table as at then and as such there wasn't need to specifically indicate she was applying for a B2 visa? So visiting for a couple of days or at most less than a month may invariably be the declared intended length of stay in the application as it were? If I may opine further then, this could then be an hurdle at renewal, but I see no big hassles at the POE if you guys stay on the plans you enumerated earlier on. It's your call, the choice remains yours.... Regards |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Okoloba: 12:28pm On Mar 06, 2018 |
OmoBendel24:Exactly you are very right. Our expired visa was for tourism and since we were eligible for dropbox we used that option to renew our visas. As you know for dropbox you can only renew for the same category of visa that is expiring or has expired. To get a different category of visa which in our case would have been a medical visa for birthing we would have gone for interview and not used the drop box option. Having received the renewed visas we decided that "wait a minute we can afford to have our last child in the US" and thus commenced the process of contacting a doctor in the US and other necessary processes. It is based on this scenario and with my going through the thread on this forum I requested for advice as ab initio the circumstances smack of misrepresentation of the facts. You are also dead on point on the period of stay as stated in our application- just shy of a month. Thank you for painstakingly going through my post and punching holes and of course giving your candid and honest advice. We will go for interview in the event of renewal of this present visa as dropbox has no room for necessary documents to show our zero balance when the time comes. No doubt as has been severally stated it is best from the onset to apply for a medical visa for child birth for DW and tourism for DH. From earlier posts DH accompanying DW for the missionary journey is an advantage. We go with your best wishes and prayers....Will share our POE experiences. Regards |

Hello house and well done, good job done to all who help out with application visas for birth and renewal!! . just to share my transcript @ abuja ;rewind 3yrs ago; i applied for vacation visa(B1\B2) with my kids, which i used for the purpose, then i later used it for birthing, now to renew my visa (b1\b2) for holiday march 2018 via Dropbox, i was asked to schedule a 221g and speak with the VO and my interview goes ( note this guy just kept refusing people while we stood in line) : VO: hello goodmorning and passports (he was looking at the computer very carefully) ME: hello and goodmorning VO: what do i do for a living? Me: I am an Accounts personnel with *** company VO: How much do i earn? ME: I told him the figure monthly *** VO: what does your husband do and how much does he earn? ME: I told him where he works and his monthly salary me: he kept typing, but i suspected he was busy calculating the figures VO; the last time you visited the states did you have the intent to give birth Me: yes i did VO; r you pregnant now? ME: No VO: Do you have intention to have a baby there? ME: No VO; Can i see receipts of payments made for child birth and also the birth certificate Me: i gave him my doctor zero balance and receipt of payments, birth certificate for the child; he studied dis carefully and the total was $3,505 for the Doctors fees, i wanted to give him the hospital and baby receipts but he said no , i had a folder which was bulky cos i did now want any if i had known. VO: i have approved your visa, go pick up. i had relief written on my face i hope this will be of much help, no bank statement or budget sheet was asked for on this trip or my former trip. 12 Likes |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Nobody: 5:01pm On Mar 06, 2018 |
Okoloba: To correct this. The visa category is B1/B2 which is Business Tourism and Medical. So regardless of what your purpose is its the SAME visa category that they give B1/B2. The real issue is your declared intention . You could have declared medical and put those details in your renewal for dropbox. It would then be the embassy's prerogative to call you for your interview or not. Since you've read the thread you know that issues can arise at POE and subsequent renewals. Be prepared that's all. 1 Like |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Petdaughter: 6:23pm On Mar 06, 2018 |
Okoloba: Don’t bother with the medical visa. I renewed via Dropbox for both pregnancies and I was already pregnant. I declared at POE and carried enough burden of proof. Arm yourself with enough documents and cash and declare at the point of entry that you are here to have your baby. Also send the generic letter Incase the CBP officer asks if you informed the embassy. I hope you are aware that even with medical visa, we have read where they sent pregnant women back. I wish you all the best |

Hello house, now I know how it feels to be denied something you feel you merited and out of the blues, you just get denied without proper scrutiny. With all I've read here, I was so sure to get my visa today, but nah nah nah. Our transcript goes thus with the white lady in window 9: DH&DW: good morning VO: can't even remember if she replied VO: passports please DW&DH: handed them over to her VO: why are u going to the US DH: explained oo, button line sha Vacation & Childbirth VO: where in the US are you going DH: el paso, Texas VO: what do you do DH: I'm a bleep, I own a company established in bleep, offering bleep Services VO: how long are you staying DH: 9 weeks VO: have you contacted any doctor DH: yes, explained by saying we've had correspondence with Doctores para ti and also mentioned the contact person and address bla bla bla VO: how much did she say it'll cost you DH: I was explaining in details hospital fee, obgy & pead amount, asked to show her the hospital correspondence & budget sheet, she declined VO: how long have you been married DH&DH: a year in bleep month, even said it's our anniversary month we would be giving birth VO: turns to wifey: madam what do you do DW: I'm a bleep at bleep VO: how long av you been working there DW: bleep years in bleep month She's been typing intermittently all the while VO: sorry!!!!!! You do not qualify to bla bla bla. Hands over the blue paper ooo She didn't even ask for a single document to be checked. Shes issued blue paper to 2 previous applicants, and I never saw a white paper close to her or on her table. Like she was programmed there to issue blue paper all through. Gurus in the house, help me assess where as an applicant we have gone wrong. Would reapply and try again. So devastating sha. |
