tribalism have blindfolded most of you guys in this forum

I don't need Oduduwa republic from your Ojukwu or from you Igbos..

When the time is ripe, I will get Oduduwa republic and more without war or blood shed. A republic owned and controlled fully by Yorubas and not outsiders.

Yorubas never asked Ojukwu to start any war on their behalf. So stop trying to whip sentiments in your favor.

They paid dearly for Victor Banjo's life they took..

Benjamin Adekunle the black scorpion went berserk on them, killing all their men, male children and anything worth killing before Obasanjo led the final push that ended the war.

Ojukwu on a norm would have been executed publicly by firing squad but the coward was afraid to die after sending over 3,000,000 of his people to their early graves.

I'm pretty sure there were some Igbo soldiers working for the North against their people then, just like we see them doing now.
It's on record that Banjo retreated from Ore with little or no opposition from the federal side that was pretty much in a dispirited retreat, his reasons for doing so are open to debate but let posterity be the better judge of history.

I believe Victor Banjo was a victim of circumstance.. Ojukwu used him cos he was in an Eastern prison at that time.

What if he wasn't there? Biafra would have fallen even before the start of the war.

This should teach other Yorubas forming detribalized a lesson.

Aguyi Ironsi after a successful Igbo planned coup detained an innocent Yoruba man Victor Banjo (most likely cos he wasn't in support of their coup) but left others like Nzeogwu, the real killers alone.

The same Yoruba man was used by the Igbos to prosecute a war only to kill him later after Ojukwu felt threatened and probably got jealous of the fearless Yoruba warrior.

Thank God for gallant Yoruba soldiers like Benjamin Adekunle (may your rugged soul rest in perfect peace), Obasanjo and the others that stopped invading biafran soldiers at Ore.
They saved the Yoruba race from slavery to Igbos.

Only bastards from Yorubaland will champion any biafra course again, not with the level of division and hate the Easterners display towards other Nigerians.

Exactly, Banjo had no choice, haven't been freed by Ojukwu.... I believed he fought on his side as a show of appreciation....

LOL revisionist of history, typical of your ilks. Unfortunately these are the distortions and half truths you will feed to your children and co-gullibles... thus passing on the torch of ignorance... pick up a book on the Nigerian Civil War and read, I can recommend several unbiased accounts of the Midwest invasion that were authored by people who actually saw and experienced the war, of course I expect you to lash back at me with the usual ipob nonsense, but I can assure you that I'm not going to debase myself to that level.

Igbos,
Hmmmm.

In Nigeria,
The people with the best hands are the Igbos
The people with the best brains are the Yorubas
The people with best mindset are the Hausas
The people with the worst mindset are the igbos.

No matter what a man has or can become, as long as he has a poor mindset, you can as well forget him.

my brother its not true, Ojukwu did not just wake up and declare Biafra, something prompted that declaration.

If we had courageous and brave soldiers and men today in Benue and other regions like southeast, do you think what's happening now is not enough reason to break away from this wicked nation ruled by heartless people only concerned about the welfare of their tribe

Major Okar saw this too and tried to end it via coup during IBB era but he failed.

What led to the declaration of Biafra is the 1966 pogrom not Ojukwu's selfish interest as non-Igbos believe.

Google: "1966 pogrom" and read, you will shed tears. Igbos (comprising of both Igbos and today Niger Delta) were about to be wiped out by Hausa-Fulani, Idoma, Plateau, Biron, Boro, etc (all northern states) and the then northern born Military head of state Gowon refused to stop the massacre of Igbos in the north, Igbos were being persecuted everywhere in Nigeria then for no justifiable reason, Ojukwu being the governor of Eastern region, summoned a meeting of all stakeholders in the then eastern region.

Professors, Kings, High chiefs, scholars, artisans, market women association, student union, religious leaders and they unanimously agreed to break away from Nigeria as a way of stopping the unnecessary killing of Igbos and other tribes in the eastern region by the northerners backed by the then Gowon led military government.

So Ojukwu didn't wake up to declare Biafra out of his own interest, it was in the interest of people of the Eastern Nigeria then.

Pls shut up!!! How did d pogrom start?......

"And following
the coup, the Igbo in the North became too celebrative;
dancing and singing to a Rex Lawson song and telling
their Hausa neighbors that the bleating of a goat in the
song was Ahmadu Bello (the most important Hausa/
Fulani leader) howling like a goat as he was being killed
by Major Nzeogwu. It was the discriminatory killings and
gratuitous mockery of the memory of their most important
leader, amongst other reasons, that set the stage for the
July 1966 anti-Igbo coup and the attendant anti-Igbo riots"

Simply put, the Igbos incite the violence that befell them...

Of course, you did. His kinsmen did not only abandon him but also disgraced him by not considering him a worthy person to represent them in the NA. Not only his tribesmen abandoned him, his family also abandoned him. He died in a pitiable circumstances. The internet doesn't forget and doesn't lie. Just try and google the keywords.

You don't really know the meaning of coward bro!

Igbos against all odds, without any preparation fought against all the Nigerian tribes + Britain + Russia + Egypt + other British allies for 2 and half years, and even marched close to the then Nigerian capital Lagos before they retreated which was why Col. Banjo and Ifeajuna were executed for retreating and not taking over Lagos as planned by Biafran commanders.

No other tribe in Nigeria can dare this feat.....this is why Hausa/Fulani fear Igbos a lot...they know what Igbos can do when worst comes to worst.....Fulani herdsmen are just forming James Bond by sneaking in the middle of the night when unarmed children and women are sleeping and murder them and form strong people....let them formally declare war and watch if they won't be wiped out under 1 week!

Boko Haram, Fulani Herdsmen and all other militant groups are all cowards...they target unarmed people and they fight and run the ragtag way....they can't stand full war....if they disagree let them formally declare war and see how it goes.

Let there be a former war declaration so all Igbo men and women will stop their business and know that war has come, then you will see the full wrath and power of the Igbo nation.

Nigerian soldiers killing unarmed IPOB members who are mostly vulnerable youths without any ammunition does not show brevity on the side of the Nigerian army, declare war and watch who will win and who will loose....only Igbos fought against all other Nigerian tribes in 1966 and held the war for over 2yrs, that was then o, imagine now, I pity you sha.

Don't ever call Igbos cowards in your life again if you don't know what cowards mean, look at FULANI HERDSMEN that kill only unarmed children and women at midnight when they are sleeping and they do it and run away, those are the REAL COWARDS!

Will u shut up dia!!!! Fight who, and who, ?

Most part of Nigeria only heard of the war on radio, Just d sight of Few Fulani herdsmen, or d sound of a busted tire, you run, with ur heel hitting the back of your head....

The same greediness exhibited by your forefathers will continue to haunt you.... After occupying sensitivitve positions, even in the North, yet you want more, making you to come up with that selective coup...

Other tribes are wiser now, sit your lazy a**es down there looking for unholy alliances or for the Presidency to be handed over to you like a plate of abasha....

Banjo and Ifeajuna cut a deal with the federals to go back and kill Ojukwu in exchange for safety. Instead of progessing to lagos which they had all means, they took the easy way out, and turn back. There was little or no resistance at Ore as against the lies peddled by the revisionists and anti-historian scoundrels. If there was, Banjo or Ifeajuna would have died fighting. Soldiers of those days (especially Biafrans) fight to the last man. That was the principle. Nzeogwu himself died fighting in Biafraland.

They simple cut a deal with Gowon and awolowo to kill Ojukwu and bring his head but it backfired and they had to pay with their lives. If Achuzie had led that troop, Lagos would have fallen within few days.

Throughout the course of the war. Patriots like Achuzie never retreated in battle, you cut him in he cuts you out. Always ready for ambush.

Some things happened before the pogrom. The killings of the leaders from the north and south west by soldiers of Eastern origin and sparing of lives of the leaders from the eastern region.
Two, the taunting that followed the killings of northern leaders and the failure to punish the coup plotters and killers.

The only biafra offensive against Nigeria was led by Victor Banjo a Yoruba man.

Ojukwu hid in his bunker all through but later ran off to Abidjan with his family when there was no Banjo or any Yoruba man to protect him.

That is the reason you see them begging for Southern unity here and there.
Any endeavour of theirs is useless without the Yoruba touch.

But we will never forget what they did to Victor Banjo. True omoluabis are more vigilant now than ever.

I can understand you are furious with this tribe, but you cannot entirely blame the new generation; they were trained to believe a certain tribe betrayed them and is responsible for their woes. Move over Victor Banjo, Adekunle Fajuyi is another notable name they won't tell them about.

Of course documented in yoruba languange by yoruba revisionists in peak period of yoruba anti-Igbo revisionism. That period of revisionism is over. Truth ti take over.

Banjo cut a deal with awolowo backed by the federals during the war. This was documented by western journalists who wrote about the civil war. It was documented in British secret archives on the Biafra war which have now been decommissioned.

Go read up the book 'Biafra: Britain's shame' by Auberon Waugh and other foreign pressmen who wrote about the war.

He was fingered as part of the Jan 15 coup plotters with his marxist ideology. Abokiis wanted his head on a plate, he ran to the East, the East took him as their own, protected him and fed him.

The East came under attack for protecting him and his comrades, a war was declared against the East, all men and young adults took up arms to defend the East. Banjo and Ifeajuna were commissioned to help dislodge the Abookis who had overrun yorubaland and were throwing bomb into Biafra using yorubaland (which should be neutral) as command and control centre since he himself was yoruba and will not be seen as an agressor. Ojukwu ordered that they modified the Biafran badge too in order to respect the soverignty of those whose lands they passed through enroute to lagos where bombs were being thrown into Biafra.

Awolowo the yoruba leader was playing double agent, pro-East in the day, pro-Abooki at night. His assurances lacked principles, his words were like smokes, they held no water and evaporated immediately the words came out of his mouth.

Banjo and Ifeajuna got to Ore where Awo (now a stooge of the abookis) met them, made a deal and assure them of their safety if they bring Ojukwu's head on a plate to abookis..Sacrilege!
They made a U-turn back to the East. The rest is history.
Are you writing a fiction?
