On The Verge Of Collapse, 13 Gencos Drag FG To Court

https://www.nairaland.com/4384860/verge-collapse-13-gencos-drag

...................BENDING BACKWARDS

In suit no. FHC/ABJ/CS/180/2018 before a federal high court in Abuja, the 13 GenCos are suing the federal government, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), minister of power, works & housing, Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), Azura and Accugas.

The suit was instituted by Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, Transcorp Power Limited, Egbin Power Plc, Northsouth Power Company Ltd, First Independent Power Limited, Shell Petroleum Development Co. Ltd., Geregu Power Plc, Sapele Power Plc, Pacific Energy Limited, Afam Power Plc, Ibom Power Company Limited, Omotosho Power Plc and Niger Delta Power Holding Company.

The aggrieved GenCos said that they have been bending backwards to continue generating electricity — making huge sacrifices, bearing the excruciating burden of not being paid for electricity generated and sold to NBET, also known as the bulk trader, “and facing the threat of going into extinction as a result of huge indebtedness to banks and financiers who provided the foreign currency-denominated acquisition loans with which the power plants were acquired from the federal government during the privatization exercise in 2012/13”.

NBET, they said, has consistently defaulted in paying for all electricity generated “in breach of its contractual obligation which requires that the GenCos be paid in fully (100%) not later than 45 days of invoice submission, and upon delay in payment be paid with interest at the agreed rate”.

The failure of NBET to pay the GenCos has led to default in meeting their obligations to their lenders, operations and maintenance contractors, equipment manufacturers, service providers and other persons and entities engaged by them for the purpose of ensuring the smooth and effectual generation of power, they further said.

The total amount owed the GenCos for electricity generated and supplied by them is approximately N800 billion, the plaintiffs said, adding that with capacity and interest payments due to them, the debts are now well over N1 trillion.

Currentprice what's your take on eterna oil?
Is it still selling at discount?

onegentleguy:

I guess u are probably referring to the notification of below listing standard (BLS). ...which is part of the small matter of coys with a less than 20% free float.
Well that isn't much of a problem. ...for the likes of Union bank, Transcorp hotel, E-transact, Champion breweries to mention just a few are all in the same boat.
However, CAVERTON seems to be the coy with the least % deficiency amongst all. ...It has just 2.6% deficiency, with about 17.4% of its outstanding shares now freely floated.

Yes its a small matter that contributes to the illiquid nature of the stock, but its not a problem for Mr TIME.
...For he is already working on it !! wink cheesy

Immediately I saw that below listing standard, I had to run. shocked
Next time I will ask questions before taking my decisions.
Thanks.

I think eterna is still selling below fair price, with EPS N1.55k in Q3, if you do a multiple of 5, the fair price will 1.55*5=N7.75K. but with the full year report, the fair price will be higher.

Bad news for Transcorps

And also for FO. Or at least the price can drop further, to give a better opportunity to strike. It has been on my watchlist!

PE ratio of 5 is what I use as fair price, the closing price today is 6.40 and Q3 EPS is 1.55 therefore PE is 6.4/1.55= 4.12, which less than 5, it means is below fair price.

You don't calculate PE like that.

You use YE EPS if the YE result is out or you use a TTM EPS or a projected EPS. All these will be assumptions until the YE EPS comes out.

What if at the YE for Eternal they include an extraordinary loss that wipes of the EPS you see now?

Assumption plenty na.

He used Q3 EPS. You don't use that to calculate PE. You use year end EPS.

Any EPS used is a guess until the results come out. The guessed EPS will help you determine the PE and if it is adjudged low, you buy. This could however go wrong when results come out and there is an extraordinary loss which wipes off the profit.

Yes u are correct, I only said if you use Q3 report it will be this, but for me I will rather use what I am seeing now to calculate the fair price. Just as you said the Eps can either go higher or less.

The TTM EPS is 1.39 and projected EPS is 1.36

MSCI ADDITION FOR 7 MARCH 2018/GENERAL MARKET COMMENT

The fund is hitting the sales button so hard these days. It is selling like no man business.

I am starting to align my thinking along the line that the banks are likely to declare low dividends for year ended December 2017.

Watching the activity of the fund has put in check my exuberance for buying shares all the time. Now I have no doubt in my mind that the market is likely to come down further. This is no time for taking big risk, especially in low quality stocks.

Oga loco, we all make mistakes on our trades every now and then and we cut losses immediately we realise it. The fund is not exempt from making mistakes/bad trades.

I agree with you in part though, anyone who makes a buy/sell decision based on what the fund does is on his/her own.

My brother, its only a tree that will see a train headed towards it and remain in same spot.

I believe FXUSER circulated below as part of others....

1.Wealthy traders are patient with winning trades and are enormously impatient with losing trades
2.They realize that making money is more important that being right

Few people here including me have warn to make cash king till April/May but people still never believe there will be no bull for results.

I am only picking one stock gradually these days because it is an illiquid one and not available in bulk.

I propose we start releasing the results our-self's since these companies are now proving stubborn.

I can release the one for UACN Property provided Agba will promise to release Access, GTB and Zenith.

Let us arm twist them.
