sometimes cover ups are used. e.g a threat alert of a bomb laden truck meant to blow up bridges. the non panic version of over weight could then be fed to the public. 1 Like 1 Share |

I wonder whether they will go back to their base or disobey this order because this notice is short. Mind you I drive through these route almost everyday and my fear is that Iponri bridge may collapse soon because of these trailers parking on the bridge. I blame previous and present government who have not done much in revamping the railway system in Nigeria 1 Like |

idu1: FRSC issued a warning...did they involve the police who are constitutionally empowered to handle such matters? What law backs the involvement of the army in this? It will get to a point when the army will be involved in managing traffic while police will be at beer parlour with no role to play in society. 3 Likes |

The wahala associated with this truck drivers is just too much. They always find a way to make life unbearable for the common man by their reckless parking. If u ban them from parking anyhow, next thing they do is to go on strike. |

hmmm!!!! 9JA!!! NAVY turns Police ARMY turns Traffic controllers Anyways my advice.... The Nigerian Army Leadership should lend a hand; 1. by using their Engineering division 2 fill up d potholes on Tin-can island axis of apapa oshodi exp. This is not new in d world... rmba i said fill d potholes with stones to ease d sufferings of these truck drivers. They r also Nigerians trying 2 earn a living legally 2 keep their families lets stop treating them like animals. 2. This next point is a shame 2 our LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. The combined team of Military, Civil defense, police & FRSC (joint task force) have turned d length of mile2 down 2 Tin-can island 2 a CASH COW.. They delibrately turn trucks around or chase drivers away even when d roads r free unless d drivers pay certain amount ranging from N3,000 to N12,000, depending on where u r entering d road from. Taking from KLT (Kirikiri Light terminals) to link Tin-can island using d detour d Naval Admin there charge truckers N3,000 averagely b4 dy enter d link detour Tin-Can. From Mile 2 to link d detour infront of PTML terminal d ARMY n LASTMA agents there take N2,000. from WILMER CRESENT to link coconut d Police there takes N2,000. Now if these drivers dont part with these *monies* dy r kept waiting on d road or asked 2 turn their trucks.. So systematically these TASKFORCE that was sent 2 ease and cordinate d traffic have added 2 d PROBLEM. Cos when these trucks r sent away or denied access to roads they pay Legitimate task for d drivers start hanging around on every little space. A combination of these issues lead to the chaos we all c in apapa... The unimagine POTHOLES & EXTORTIONS OF THE TASKFORCE & NPA is d reason we all suffer. The ARMY SHOULD donate their ENGINEERING CORP to fill those port wholes with stones. This is part of NATION SERVICE. |

Re: Army Bans Trucks On Lagos Bridges by Etfash(m): 6:32pm On Mar 07, 2018 |
I don't know why many people still see Nigeria as a sane country. In 2006, the army was the one that expelled the incesaant hold up along Unibadan/Bodija road. Prior to this time, you will not believe that 2 vehicles could pass together on each of those lanes, because these thugs will clog one side of the road. Road users will horn continually to pass. When the army came, I never knew that place was that wide. A guy tried to misbehave, the beating he received made him realize he wasn't relating with the police or other paramilitary bodies. Guys, Nigeria has gone haywire and an average Nigerian has developed somega unusually thick skin at the expense of his or her neighbor'so wellbeing. With the military coming to the scene, I just imagine how free that place would be now. Let's work with what we have and who we are. We don't have to do everything the way it is done in other climes, we are a unique people. We should always factor our uniqueness into our policies. This will enable us achieve our objectives in a timely and cost effective manner. |

Re: Army Bans Trucks On Lagos Bridges by intrepid: 6:56pm On Mar 07, 2018 |
Another shameful and misguided nonsense. 1. Why are the trucks on the overpasses in the first place!? 2. If you remove them from the overpasses, where would they go? Of course, they will clog up other level routes 3. Why should Lagos port be the only operational, and the Wharf, about the only operating one by some deliberate design, thereby over blowing the population of Lagos, both human and vehicular? 4. If these key reasons are not tackled, it's useless asking the trucks to leave the bridges because the masses will suffer more.... We suffer still. #YesWeFit |

Re: Army Bans Trucks On Lagos Bridges by Nobody: 8:16pm On Mar 07, 2018 |
Omeokachie: A question was asked sometime ago about who motorists dare most... Most preferred the police, followed by the Lastma, then FRSC. Least with 0% was the Army. You know why? I guess it's because they're more disciplined (not ruling out their excesses). Back to the topic, bridges are designed for dynamic load not static. Excessive static loading on bridges may cause failure. I support the idea deploying the military against the drivers of articulate vehicles. You need to drive from Ojuelegba to Apapa enroute Ijora to understand the real-time situation. 1 Like |

If the Army can do this then maybe that's the best Civic thing they have done for the country since after the Civil War. Anyway in which those Tankers can be sent packing from those bridges is welcome so long as it does not include killing people. Intimidation, harassment and impouning the trucks are welcome. Only those that use those roads in Lagos will understand the great nuisance danger those trucks have been for years. |
