Throwback: Your self-serving and face-saving revisionism cannot fly this time. NCNC my foot. Professor Dike, Nigeria's first professor of history, in a clearly stated mission to narrate and preserve African history from the African perspective became the first VC of Univ. Of Ibadan based only on MERIT. It was your awolowo that introduced tribalism and nepotism into academia. Even unilags first black VC was pioneer professor Eni Njoku, another great academic of botany. These men were the pioneers of their time. There was no egbe omo oduduwa in academics then. Everything was purely merit based that even your awolowo was scared of competing with igbos. no long revisionism can change the narrative. 54 Likes 4 Shares |

ofai: Was Dike more pioneering than Oladele Ajose, a medical doctor and most senior African on the academic board of University College Ibadan? Was Dike more senior to Oladele Ajose who was the first tenured Nigerian professor in history? Is it false tale that Dike was called back from sabbatical in the USA to take the position of Vice Principal. While a more qualified Oladele Ajose was right there in Ibadan on the campus? You cannot erase the facts, and even Dike was apprehensive to accept the position that was being forced on him. I repeat merit to the Igbos is Igbos first, others follow. Throwback: Your lies will keep hunting you. Who told you ajose was MORE QUALIFIED than dike? Which research of his was groundbreaking? you think VCship is all about age? Its like trying to compare Amos tutuola's palmwine drunkard to Achebe's things fall apart. If your ajose was more qualified in EVERY respect to take the job, it would have been indisputable by all and sundry including the british who were about leaving. They knew who would be MORE proactive and innovative. Dike had the papers, the drive, the age and the better competitive advantage in research works compared to ajose. Keep exposing your biase. 45 Likes 6 Shares |

ofai: It is no news that the British could never stand the "I know my rights uppity attitude" of the Yoruba employees in the colonial era. From Doctors to Engineers to Lawyers, Yorubas had them all, and they were not prepared to play servant to the British who most times were not better educated or experienced than the Yorubas, but the British felt no Briton must ever work under an African. And rightly, the Yoruba's wasted no time in forming a political party as early as 1908 to demand for the rights of the Yoruba people, at a time some tribes were still learning how to recite ABC. So Ajose was a riff-raff academic, yet became the first tenured African at the university that had a globally multicultural academia? Do you know what it takes for a Blackman to break such a glass ceiling? What is more pioneering than being the first in a race that is purely academic and research focused? What is more experienced than being the most senior on the academic board? You see why I rightly said that to the Igbos, merit means I Go Before Others? I can only imagine if Ajose was the younger and less experienced academic who was chosen over an Igbo professor who was more experienced, qualified and pioneering? Marginalization is the word the Igbos would have cried from that time till now. Keep exposing your hypocrisy, while I continue to haunt you with your ignoble past. Did the British who were also leaving the army not nominate a Yoruba Brigadier ahead of his peers who were a total of 4 Brigadiers, with the Igbo Aguiyi Ironsi being the most senior? Was it not Aguiyi Ironsi who was eventually promoted to become the Major General, and head of the Nigerian Army? 56 Likes 5 Shares |

Throwback: History revisionist Imagine how you seek to change the course of history to reflect your hate filled biased and vindictive mindset. You can't still change the fact that Igbos were Nigeria Trailblazers in all spheres before the civil war. I won't argue with a tribal bigot like you. 24 Likes 3 Shares |
