This Guy Is Mischievous. If Someone Is My Colleague, Can't I Call And Correct Them? This Will Benefit The 'English Teacher' And The Students. It Is Better Than Taking PAS To Tell The Whole World What A Colleague Has Done Wrong. It Is My Opinion On The Moral Consideration!

Again, the teacher might be a corp member or anyone else who didn't study English Language in the university(that's if the person even went to the university).

Because it is pardonable to you doesn't make it pardonable. It is your opinion based on your limited scope.


You must be limited a lot to think round off can be replaced with round up. They are distinctively different. Stop disgracing yourself

Correct the colleague? Are you for real? Imagine someone approaching and correcting your grammar as an English teacher. That alone is enough to cause animosity between the lady and him for the rest of his days in ghat school. People don't like being corrected, more so when it borders on their inadequacy and lack of proficiency. Also knowing the teacher involved is a lady makes it more risky to try correcting her.
Talking about exposing his colleague, he didn't reveal any personal details here – neither his nor the lady's. Nobody will ever get to know who the teacher is, so what's the big deal?

Just stop already! Who told you my scope is limited? Nairaland is a funny place mehn. People come online and be forming what I don't know. Can I post a shot of my IELTS result to you so that you will understand I am not a novice when it comes to English speaking and writing? Have you communicated with native English speakers before and they told you you speak well? What's your problem?
Most of us used to call it 'round up' when we were young until we learnt the right thing. Many graduates still use that term today, cos they haven't learnt. But as far as the Nigerian parlance is concerned, using the term 'round up' instead of 'round off' is never a big deal. Even the sounds of the 2 are nearly alike.

It's not as if it's reporting. This is a very costly mistake. It should even be reported. But the sad truth is that, there are lots of worse cases than this. The standard of education in Nigeria is just too low for comfort.

If u listen to the spoken english of some of them u won't even believe they are teachers.....not to talk of teaching children at such a tender age that need a solid foundation....its sad really
