Drdo has recently been given the funds to develop a ground based high power microwave ( HPM ) directed energy weapon system , deadline 2022.

Nevertheless the work done on LCA during the last 2 decade's has built up a vast pool of resources, facilities and experience.

More than 4000 engineers and scientists have been working on various aspects of AMCA for the last 10 years.

And they were only waiting for the funding to build the prototypes, which came this year along with the funding to build the prototype of aura stealth UCAV code named as SWIFT .
