it's a sad case, when i travelled to china (Guangzhou) i tried to inquire about the guy but some Nigerians i met over there adviced me not to bother About the case as it's a serious case of drug trafficking, which Attracts either a death penalty or years in prison, i even went to the Nigerian consulate in china, their response was that they have no idea who he is as he isn't registered with them.

while i was in china there was a case of one American drug addict who was arrested by the chinese police, once he was Able to identify himself as an American he was freed immideately! but in the case of Nigerians it's different. Nigerians has a bad reputation in guanghzou.

I'm quitting business to start an NGO/humanitarian service, although my primary destination is towards Egypt, Tunisia and co, its a similar situaion where our brothers and sisters are jailed for years and left abandoned.


It's a poor story, with your expereince in guanghzou, what do you think independent NGOs can do ? I know of a man who was shot amongst like ten other people in Egypt for preaching and dumped in a garbage site, luckily out of the ten only he didnt die, and has resumed ministry today in Nigeria. We need to do the little we can with the good will we can muster to go retrieve some of our lost ones. What do you think Sir?

Well.. NGO needs to recognise that this is a big problem. infact it's bigger and vast than they think.

quitting your business to start an NGO is a bold and big step to take, atleast you are prepare to do something to help, that's commendable i must say.

I am quite apprehensive of those Arabian countries, i don't venture into their countries they are worst than the chinese in terms of human rights.

I think Nigerian Government should get involved big time and imminently, and do everything within their political power to retrieve thousands of Nigerians in prison all over the world, there are thousands in Thai, malaysia, indonesia (on death row) and philipine prisons and sadly most of these guys are from the eastern part of nigeria perhaps that's why the Buhari Government don't care About trying to retrieve them.

from my experience during my trip to china and thailand i found that these countries are willing and prepared to compromise and work with Nigerian government to repatriate Nigerians in their prisons as they are running out of prisons Spaces to accommodate Nigerian prisoners. And more Nigerians are still been convicted even till this day all over the world. it has become an epidemic.
you and I can only do so little to help. it's a sad situation.

You're missing the point. Those are Nigerian prisoners they want to transfer back to Nigeria. It's not done out of goodwill, they simply don't wanna spend any more of their tax money on foreign prisoners. It's parasitic to their system, so they'd rather spend money on building the prison, which will relieve them of the financial burden long term. It's a smart move.
