Was ‘bad boy’ Kayode dropped by top NFF officials?

By admin - March 8, 2017, 11:29 am1180 0

Sources close to Olanrewaju Kayode have insisted the Austria-based striker was very much in the plans of Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, but he was eventually dropped from the squad for this month’s friendlies in London because some top NFF officials branded him “a bad boy”.

“Kayode has maintained that he was called up by Rohr, but he was eventually dropped because some top officials said he will never play for Nigeria again because he ‘messed’ up one of their ogas some years ago,” said a source close to the former Nigeria U17 and U20 striker.

This was in reference to his transfer saga that involved former top NFF chief Taiwo Ogunjobi and Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas.

The 23-year-old Kayode has been linked with a move to the Premier League in England on the back of his form at Austria Wien.

This season, he has scored eight goals in 22 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga after he netted 13 goals in the last campaign.

This week, he told a radio station that were he chanced, he would demand answers from Rohr to why he has again been snubbed by the Super Eagles.

“If I had the opportunity to speak with Rohr, i will ask him to check my profile and also why I haven’t got an invitation,” he said in the interview.

The Austria Vienna striker also questioned scouting and yardsticks used to invite players to the Super Eagles

“I think the Super Eagles scouting needs to be extensive enough to consider players who are active in their clubs,” he urged.

“There is no way a player who sits on the bench can be fit enough or better than the one who plays regularly.”

Duh.

Rohr has already said he has indices to support the decisions he makes. Not everyone will get selected.

Finito.

I'm really baffled how these people are so engaged in such unnecessary argument about one certain average player playing somewhere in Hungary... So annoying and irrelevant.

Prior to playing in Hungary, he had played for 3 straight seasons in the Eredivise and a season in the Turkish league.

Please, give full details next time.

EXCLUSIVE: Olanrewaju Kayode – It was tough at Girona because I wasn’t given a chance

By admin - March 4, 2018, 3:37 pm473 0

Striker Olanrewaju Kayode has exclusively revealed to SCORENigeria he was not given much of a chance at La Liga side Girona, but hopes to now prove his class at top Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk.

The full Interview:

SCORENIGERIA: Congratulations on your move to Shakhtar Donetsk?

KAYODE: Thank you brother.

How do you feel now about your latest transfer?

I am so excited and happy with the deal.

What are your targets with the club? shocked

I just wish to concentrate and do well with the club.

Former Nigeria international Julius Aghahowa played for Shakhtar Donetsk, what are they saying about him?

He did great things here and they love him. They are saying good things about him here and I am so encouraged to hear this.

Did they want you to replicate his performance for the club?

They have so much belief in me which I know and they make me understand that. I am looking forward to do my best to keep the good name of Nigeria here.

I will be glad if I could surpass what a great player Julius Aghahowa achieved here.

What’s your jersey number?

I have been assigned jersey number 88.

What really happened at Girona because a lot was expected after you joined them on loan from Manchester City?

I had a very bad experience at Girona. I was doing well in training, very fit and ready for matches, but I wasn’t given the opportunity. I have put that in the past now as I am focused on doing well here now.

What message do you have for your fans and the Shakhtar fans?

To Shakhtar Donetsk fans, I say thank you for having me. I am looking forward to playing in front of you and make you happy. I need your support here.

And to my fans, I say thank you for always been there and supporting me. I appreciate you all and will make you happier with my goals here in Ukraine.

I thank my wife Zinny Kayode for always been there for me. I appreciate your prayers and words of encouragement.

Thanks for your time.

It’s always a pleasure talking to you brother.

I want Pere Guardiola's experiment with Girona to stop and the City players there, especially the black ones removed from there. Not calling Machin a racist but his preference does not hinge on them.

Most importantly, Luiz and Moreno should leave that club at the end of the season.

Nacho's involvement in Leicester's last game saved them a point. His movement and passing did cause some problems for Bournemouth and was no surprise it was after his introduction that Leicester stood a chance of getting a goal and that they did when Nacho was fouled in a dangerous area around the box which led to Mahrez's moment of brilliance from that freekick (a frekick I trust Nacho don learn from him teammate ahead of the mundial... grin )

Now fast forward to today's game... Nacho only needed two mins after he came on to again show his growing influence at Leicester and again his true class... What a beautiful clipped pass to Mahrez for that goal that made it 2-1... And couple of moments later... He makes it 3-1 with a header thanks to Chillwell's cross...

Nacho has scored with his head, left foot/leg and right foot/leg this season... Just like he did in his first season at Man City in 2015/2016...

I think Iheanacho is picking just the right time to grow into dangerously fine form for the World cup moments... This is the Iheanacho that Man City put a buy back fee clause for. wink

There is defenders and goalkeeper crises because of the actions and in actions of previous coaches.

We had Kenneth Otigba and Gbenga Arokoyo who played consistently in the Eredivise and Turkish league btw 2014 - 2016.

Now, there's is one Junior Udeme Plus in the Portuguese league with Tondela and Jacob Adebanjo of Victoria Setuba who are both
defenders.

I hope Rohr monitors themselves after the WC.

Let The Nacho show continue...

I listened to a sports analysis radio program on Nigeria info in Port Harcourt two days ago and one of the panel of analysts criticised Rohr inclusion of Nacho in the friendlies list when Nacho is yet to score a Premier League goal.

What a timing of Nacho to score an EPL goal two days later.

The Humble Pie that analyst ate today is as big as Jumbo size burger.

Wow! I just saw the replay of Iheanacho's assist and goal.

Good to know he can use his head.

I hope he continues with this form going into the world cup.

This is what I am talking about. Play and score, not glue on the bench and think all is well.

I thank Rohr for drawing the stick on bench warmers association hoping to go to the world Cup without playing for their clubs.

That's a good one.

Modern day forwards do not have best positions but can play multiple roles depending on where the team needs them most.
