The Nigerian Tertiary system is flawed. Most other Developed economies give you tests as you go. And your scores are actually mostly made up of tests that cover sections of your work as your progress in the semester including group work to encourage networking. Exams should be about 40% at most. You also get like 5% for attendance.

But we reverse it in Nigeria. Cram and write everything (70%) in one sitting. University education is meant to build character (punctuality, honesty), engender team work (via assignments, excursions), leadership (elections, organizing, sororities), practical applications (case studies, scientific practicals) and knowledge (testing and examination). So examination is just a little bit of what they hope to inculcate. Experts are not built with craming. Infact some tests/exams are open book because in real life your work requires using visual/electronic aids (internet, manuals, SOPs) etc.

Let's change this archaic approach to learning please.

Which of the developed economies are u talking about? ?? I don't have what u described here. Attendance could be 5% assignment maybe 15% which is also obtainable in naija Unis. Even in some courses here, exam is 100%. They don't care u come to class or not. Nothing like Area of Concentration here. In naija, 40% u pass. Here the benchmark is 50. 49 is fail. My guy relax jor

My summation is this - Mrs. Op, you don't 'derserve' anything, you're just lazy. In the real world where you need to practicalise what you claim to have read in school then you'll fall short, adding to the upsurge of half baked 'graduates'. When you feel like ur dying and you go to the hospital, do you think it's Aoc knowledge he/she uses to diagnose and effectively treat whatever your ailment is? The educational system is not exclusively meant to make things easy for you.

Some of u talking don't even get what's going on. Some of the questions they set aren't even in the text books. They take questions from other online quizzes. They're just messing the whole thing up. It was that bad this past exam. Reading is not the problem but its annoying after u read and u see a totally different thing in the exam hall

Even though, i don't subscribed to AOC, I have one friend in NOUN, she complains that most of their exam questions are not extracted from their materials.

what's the big deal in reading without aoc... C'mon don't be lazy. I even hate aoc sef... It limits your knowledge of the course.

Op, you want AOC for e-exam?? course materials are not voluminous, and it's understandable when you settle down to read them. Do well in your TMA, like get 30 or 29.5 or even 28 and prepare for your exam, then you are good to go.

Noun management and lecturers(tutors) should please make the school worth passing through.why should a tertiary institution set exams without 'AREA of CONCENTRATION'?

Even the best 100 universities in the world have area of concentration for their internal exams. And I don't think any Nigerian university made it to the list with our harsh learning environment.

Besides,you don't expect a student to read a 250 to 300 pages of handout cover to cover with 12 courses to cover and seat for the exam afterwards.

Her sisters' universities with lecturers and daily classrooms write out this same 'course outline' to concentrate for exams.why is our own different in noun? We were once using past question papers as area of concentration, and as a probability for exams but all of a sudden we now see a different thing entirely.

Where did noun students go wrong to warrant this type of "I don't care exam settings"?
But I don't want to believe all this is because a carryover course so to speak brings #2500 extra into the school wallet or an extra year brings another compulsory fees to the school that's why the school doesn't give Area of concentration for exams.

On behalf of noun students nationwide,we plead with management to please look into this issue as the exam is ongoing..........................

Read ur book not because ur examination is around but to pepare u well in any challenges coming ur way during ur exam period!!! don't be too lazy 'NOUN students'

And yes NOUN is not about course materials reading only you have to do more research and to understand the familiar course very well.I will mention this and keep saying it till I leave this school

when am a new students my first semester exam in Noun that I came across an Issues of one yeye course which is questions is not relate with the course materials talkless of Tma I thought maybe it's a mistakes and raised my hand up to complained while they told me that I should come to school next week to sit for it that they will talk to the lecturer in ABJ for me. I went home and happy say no be my first semester I will encounter this serious matter.when monday reach like 'Odun Osun' and still see the same question I raised up my hand to complained na then they called that fu<k lecturer at my face and said that is how he has been setting it, that is either I sit for it or leave...

I just dey look like paiko chaiii Funke kilo kosi yi nitori Oloun and Thnks to mama then she just said I should used one faith to do it that I may see some question relate to what I might have come across then and Thank God I did it and got C not E!!!!! Later later I now heard that all student will first fail it before they will pass it thank God I broke that stupid bondange.

some will even say they can only read with other students(group reading) scored 8/120 questions is very bad try to find your better style of reading and you will come out with good grades

my problem is the 100 and 200 level e-exam that the system will want you to answer the subjective questions with same words that were written in the course materials ....

I guess u haven't met a lecturer like Dr. OG from water resources engineering in unilorin wey go give student AOC and practice questions for exam, only for it turn to AREA OF CONFUSION in the exam because he has set different question entirely
