Now I'm really scared to take this bill for our Lekki property. If this house would be paying close to 5m with penalty multiplying at this crazy rate, mine would be close to double. shocked shocked cry

I will suggest the government should net this law on the third property owned by an individual in the state. So we can control greed of some looters. We will not be having a single man with 100 houses.
So because someone owns many houses he must pay that outrageous amount?
What if he or she is a developer that just rents out these properties? So he should then transfer it to the tenants?
The way some of you reason atimes just baffles one!
There is a criminal enterprise going on in Lagos and some of you still want to rationalize it based on only God knows what!!

This current LUC rates are just outrageous and unattainable except the plan is to actually repossess lands already in hand of settlers which I suspect this is what this is all about
Yorubas are settlers in Lagos grin

and you really believe pdp can win lagos
dont make me laugh

Goan check the last Lagos governorship n presidential elections results. PDP is coming closer n closer. Even as incumbent yoruba party, APC got about 830k votes n PDP got about 700k votes. Wen the average lagosian gets fed up wit APC, PDP will win Lagos. And also the Igbo population will keep growing rapidly in Lagos n igbos will keep voting PDP. Once other tribes on Lagos shift a bit to pdp, Its gameover.
THIS IS NOT COMPLICATED OR CONFUSING IN ANY WAY.

It is time they are booted out.
They would meet us at the polls.

If I was the landlord, I’ll gladly ask Lagos state government to give me N294.7m which is half of their estimated value of N589.3m and take over ownership of the house.

and just leave this evil people in govt and their country. This country has really grown so bad.

No need to throw tantrums. The truth is that majority of houses owned by non Yorubas in Lagos belong to the Igbos so to a large extent this law is viewed as an an anti-Igbo law.
So tell me how it affects only Igbos? I put it to you again does the law say an increment of LUC for non-Yorubas only. I personally go to the bank every year for the last 4 years to pay my Grandmother's LUC for a 4 flat house in Shogunle. I know how much I pay for the house. The building is valued at 50 million and i pay 35 k every year. It's stupidity saying it's targeted to frustrate Igbos.

How in the world is this house worth N589.3M?

This no be the value woo. The value is 980944000. Since according to them they are charging base on a 60% of the total value.

This would scare away investors out of lagos estate sectors to other states, i see ogun state picking up. Recently the estate industry in the south estate have witness a positive growth.
Lagos is over populate, this is a wrong approach and would cause inflation in the state.
There are other ways to generate revenue.
Sincerely nigeria have got alots of untapped sectors that are invisible to the government and citizen.

People value their house as collateral for loan, if you value your house 500 million to collect a loan, thats what the government would value it for you, simple

In all fully developed and developing areas of Lagos, Igbos have more real estate than Yorubas.

Simple! All landlords in Lagos should form an association and enforce a 200% increase residential property rents and 300% increase in commercial property rent!
That way the 1 million landlords would send the the 17million tenants to the street to protest!

I guess its time for Ogun and Oyo states to rise and shine..Ibadan used to be the new York of west Africa during the years of the oyo empire and then Lagos was just a slave depot and a commercial center but I guess Ibadan people went to sleep and woke up to see that they've been dethroned by Lagos.

Oga ur living in a Yoruba estate. grin.

Igbo populace surpasses that of Yoruba in Lagos.

Same goes with wealth.

Everyone sane person who has lived in Lagos for at least 10 years knows this.

Thats why Ambode has been doing anything possible to restrict the Igbos. He has even created laws to prevent Igbos from gaining admission in Lagos state higher institutions (which is long dead before arrival).

Ambode created laws to make teaching n learning of Yoruba language compulsory in Lagos secondary schools, he also made laws legalizing the speaking of Yoruba language in Lagos state house of assembly (because igbos won seats there).

Even Fashola deported igbos.

Even after Ambode n tinubu finished rigging Lagos state governorship election results, The result was still too close.

U can remain blind to it till further notice.

There is something happening in lagos, that this APC politicians are trying to cover.

The kind of legal and illegal embezzlement going on in that state is unprecedented.

Lagos is in such a debt (internationally and locally) they can never ever finish paying.

The man is right what started as a child play during Thiefnibu is now a grown child under ambode and will continue to grow unless a miracle occurs ( in Nigeria that is unlikely ).

My only advise to non-Yorubas living in lagos

1) start now and prepare to leave lagos

2)Leave all this ibeju -lekki nonsense or any other lagos environs bla bla and invest in Akwa ibom ( my state) or calabar or akwa cross (whichever) this is where things will be happening in the next 10 years ..The wind is blowing down South

I don talk my own! !
