"20 DEATHS SO UNUSUAL"

Everyone will die either from illnesses, accidents, old age e.t.c. but below is a list of twenty people who died in unusual ways. Some ironic, hilarious and pitiful. Read on to know more!

20. 475 BC: In an account by Diogenes Laertius, the Greek philosoper, Heraclitus was devoured by dogs after smearing his body with cow manure in an attempt to cure his dropsy.

19. In 455 BC, Aeschylus, the Athenian author of tragedies was killed by a tortoise that was killed by an eagle who mistook his bald head as a rock suitable to shatter the shell of its prey. History has it that Aeschylus had been staying outdoors to avert a prophecy that he would be killed by a falling object. So ironic 

18. Mithridates was a Persian soldier who embarrassed his king, Artaxerxes II by boasting of killing his rival, Cyrus who was the King’s brother. He was executed by Scaphism in 401 BC

17. A Greek tyrant, Agathocles was murdered by a poisoned toothpick

16. In 1016, Edmund Ironside was stabbed while on a toilet by an assassin who was hiding below

15. In 1667, James Betts died as a result of asphyxiation after been sealed in a cupboard at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge by Elizabeth Spencer in an attempt to hide him from her father

14. Adolf Frederick, King of Sweden, died of digestion problems on 12 February 1771 after having consumed a meal of lobster, caviar, sauerkraut,smoked herring, and champagne,topped off with 14 servings of his favourite dessert: semla served in a bowl of hot milk, called “hetvägg”. Heis thus remembered by Swedish schoolchildren as “the king who ate himself to death”

13. Clement Vallandigham, a lawyer and Ohio politician defending a man accused of murder in 1871, accidentally shot himself while demonstrating how the victim might have accidentally shot himself. His client was cleared
12. In 1926 while 16 year old Phillip McClean and his brother were clubbing a cassowary on the family property in Mossman, Queensland,a bird knocked him down and kicked him in the neck, opening a large cut; McClean died of hemorrhage.

11. In 1927, a dancer named Isadora Duncan broke her neck when her long scarf was caught in the wheel of the she was in.
10. 1941: Sherwood Anderson, an Americannovelist and short story writer, died from peritonitis brought on by an accidentally swallowed toothpick, which had damaged his internal organs
9. Nick Piantanida, a skydiver, died four months after an attempt to break the record for the highest parachute jump; his suit had depressurized causing brain damage in 1966
8. 1974: Basil Brown, a 48-year-old health food advocate from Croydon, England died from liver damage after he consumed 7 million units of Vitamin A and around 38 litres of carrot juice over ten days, turning his skin bright yellow.

7. In 1977, Tina Christopherson died after drinking too much waterin a day(15 litres) to combat stomach cancer

6. Kurt Godel(a mathematician) died of starvation in 1978 when his wife was hospitalized. He refused to eat food prepared by anyone else

5. 1982: David Grundman, shooting at cacti with his shotgun near Lake Pleasant, Arizona, was crushed when a 4 ft (1.2 m) limb of the cactus  detached and fell on him

4.1983: Tennessee Williams, an American playwright, died after accidentally choking on the plastic cap of his eye drop bottle. Williams had a habit of holding the cap between his teeth while he used his eye drops

3. 1993: Brandon Lee, 28-year-old film actor, martial artist, and son of Bruce Lee, was accidentally shot to death by co-star Michael Massee while filming a scene for the crow as the result of an improperly loaded prop gun 

2.1993: Garry Hoy, a lawyer in Toronto, Ontario, fell to his death from the 24th floor of the Toronto-Dominion Centre while demonstrating to a group of visitors that the building’s windows were “unbreakable”. Hoy threw himself against the glass, which indeed did not break; instead the window popped out of its frame  

1. In 2012, Edward Archbold, 32, of West Palm Beach, Florida, choked on cockroach body parts during a cockroach-eating contest.
