andrew444: When the debate of who will replace Tevez when he left Manchester United for Manchester City, one name I hammered on Manchester United forums was Suarez. This was in 2009. This is to tell you I am actually a Suarez fan and was following him before he came close to the EPL. Disheartening when I being a huge fan of Hector Cuper in 2000/2001 for Valencia, Irureta in the same era with La Coruna. Supported Van Gaal in his Ajax days. I switched from Manchester United to Manchester City because of I was a big fan of Mancini during his coaching days at Inter Milan and Lazio. Pathetic you can arise today and tag me an EPL fan boy. Joebie: I consider you to be informed, conversant and intelligent in the first instance. Do you not think it will be of benefit to this discourse to be specific and not vague that way other contributors can understand a lot better and even validate your position. Firstly, unfortunately as compared to the Golden years of the mid 1990's to the early Millennium. We simply don't have many outstanding players in the context of world football. The proviso you give for selection and or unit of measurement for competence. Is problematic. Let's forget about top teams for now. One question ❓ HOW MANY NIGERIAN ORIGIN PLAYERS ARE OUTSTANDING CONSISTENT TOP PERFORMERS IN THIER RESPECTIVE LEAGUES. Even when you include the backwater leagues of Turkey, Isreal, Cyprus, Holland, Austria, etc we simply do not have many. This being the case in the absence of the desirable the available becomes desirable. If not for the dearth of quality strikers available to us. Our number one striker KC has scored once in the EPL this season that's not an inspiring statistic. Our defenders in Turkey are not rated in the top three or best in that league. Considering then the huge gap between the EPL, and arguably for some the Championship compared to these backwater leagues. Is it therefore, irrational to then consider average or above average players and or outstanding Nigerian origin players in the English Championship and league one for the SE❓ Do not Forget that Dele Alli, Gomez, Ademola, all left league one straight to the EPL. Finally, you can not compare scoring 10 goals in the Eredivisie to scoring 5 in the EPL, it's not the same level of quality. Before I forget who are these players that I have called for that you think aren't good enough Be specific no generalisations please. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: This is very true. They are investing in the young across the top academies in England. For instance the head of coaching for Liverpool fc U9 - U12 is the former assistant coach of Sao Paulo in Brazil. Wenger once said if a boy is not taught to individually play technically proficient football by the age of 12 it's near impossible after that. And a very good number of them are of Nigerian origin so the future is still bright. 1 Like |

ClumsyFlimsy: So after all the posts you have read on the thread you still haven't down loaded contemporary understanding into your vision. It seems you are operating on DOS when we are on Windows 10. Please upgrade and down load. Firstly, the EPL is entirely unique in comparison to any other top league across the globe. The EPL is an international league flooded with international players and managers. I am certain there are more foreign players in the EPL than any other league in the World. Most of the top six EPL teams struggle to play more than 5 Engliish players in thier match day squad at any one time. There have been occasion when some EPL teams have just 2 or 3 English outfield players. Pogba is just hype according to you. I knew him at United when he was frozen out packed off to Juventus went from U21 straight to first team becoming the most dominant box to box midfielder in Sierra A. And you call that hype Do not look at his limited role in United with Mourinho stifling his ability just as he did to our only world top class player in Mikel Obi. |

MetalJigsaw: Ogu is limited for me predictable admittedly assured but his lack of pace is a liability for me. His ability to recover is very suspect particularly against pacy midfielders. He struggles to turn from defence into attack. We already have one slow midfield player in Mikel who will not run back to recover. In this regard having Ogu could see us concede the midfield very quickly. Etebo brings indisciplined unpredictability he creates uncertainty in the opponents he has pace and makes midfielder double team on him. My view he who dares wins, I prefer Etebo. 2 Likes |

elyte89: I don't think his name was conspicuously absent at all. It was NEVER EVER GOING TO BE THERE. Tega has not performed you do not get invited to the three lions on past glories as an outfield player. You must be consistently performing and he has not. Furthermore, England have many strike options unlike Nigeria. In this regard if he had been wise and chosen Nigeria from the word go he would most likely be on the plane to Russia. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: Agreed unreservedly. Furthermore Mikel does not have the pace to to make defensive recovery runs and I suspect even the stamina to do that for 90 minutes. |

realpoacher: The same England that finished the careers of Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Wilfred Ndidi, Odion Ighalo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ola Aina The players who are the bedrock of the SE. I enjoin you to expand your horizon and consider the possibility that Musa was simply not good enough for Leicester and the EPL. He has now found his level in a much less competitive and physically taxing league where he can thrive. But with regards to the challenge of the EPL he just was not able to cut it. The EPL is not for every player. 2 Likes |

edi287: I feel that Iwobi has a better passing range and vision than Etebo. However, when the chips are down Etebo brings explosive unpredictability that gets defenders scared, he gives us the ability to play gra gra football as some have mentioned here. Who would I choose it depends on the opponents and the mood Iwobi is in because sometimes he goes missing. 4 Likes |

But they have one thing in common: They are the United Kingdom or British counties due to their historical and political mutualities and relationships. Another instance is Sweden, Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Faroe Islands. These are Scandinavian countries as a unit but they are different as countries. Got it? |
