When he retires then una eyes go see. Mikel is not indispensable. We have been winning matches before him, & after him we will still win. He has a poor recovery rate in the SE as far as am concerned.

it still does not negate the fact the mikel is the only 'brain' for now in this team going to the world cup until maybe i see what joel obi can do..indispensible is not so much the issue but whether when push comes to shove against some uncompromising european defence whether other players of 'less brain' in our team can deliver..winning matches before him does not really matter here after all brazil largely qualified for usa 94 without any input from romario but he had to be brought back before the final qualifier against uruguay after their coach perreira and romario reached a compromise because romario was simply the best brazillian striker then.

Quick question my brothers.
Of all the top talents coming through the SE Who are the top three youngsters less than 22, whom you guys feel has the highest POTENTIAL based on talent, mentality and ability? there are too many exciting young talents but I would like to get you guys opinion?
NB Putting thier all round game into consideration and not based on current performance or playing position.
In no particular order

KELECHI NWAKALI(his class on the ball and vision is the closest Iv seen to okochas! Confident, and he's a beauty to watch, certainly going to be a world class someday

HENRY ONYEKURU(his dribblings are already mesmerizing enough plus his deadly finishing, he's too special)

ETEBO(choose him over nacho coz with his style of play there's no club he can't play for, also has so plenty strengths in his game, his potential is frightening)

Ogu is limited for me predictable admittedly assured but his lack of pace is a liability for me. His ability to recover is very suspect particularly against pacy midfielders.

He struggles to turn from defence into attack.

We already have one slow midfield player in Mikel who will not run back to recover. In this regard having Ogu could see us concede the midfield very quickly.

Etebo brings indisciplined unpredictability he creates uncertainty in the opponents he has pace and makes midfielder double team on him. My view he who dares wins, I prefer Etebo.

A DM doesn't really have to be pacy to perform his duties. His basic function is to shield the the defense

7 Super Eagles Who Must Use Poland, Serbia Friendlies To Prove They Deserve World Cup Spots

Completesportsnigeria.com’s JOHNNY EDWARD profiles seven players in Gernot Rohr’s 28-man squad for the Pre-World Cup friendlies who have a point to prove with the Super Eagles…

Junior Ajayi (Al Ahly, Egypt)
Junior Ajayi has developed so quickly in the Egyptian league playing for Al Ahly such that the 23 year old striker will be itching to make his debut and remind everyone of his value at the biggest stage for the Super Eagles.
The former CS Sfaxien forward missed a great chance to show his capabilities at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil due to injury, but for the games against Poland and Serbia whether he gets a role as a striker or a cameo on the wings, Ajayi will need to underline his credentials to Gernot Rohr and show he has a lot in him to lead the lines for the Super Eagles.

Joel Obi (Torino, Italy)
After battling several spells on the sidelines due to his injuries, Obi will have the chance to prove he deserves his place again in the Super Eagles.
The Torino midfielder is currently having his best season in the Italian Serie A with Torino since he made his debut eight years ago. Obi missed Torino’s defeat to AS Roma due to a suspected hamstring injury and it remains to be seen if he will feature in the friendly matches.
The 26-year-old will be a vital cog in the wheel for the Super Eagles midfield at the World Cup, if he stays fit. So, a decent game in the friendlies will definitely put him back in the frame for a place in Nigeria’s World Cup squad.

Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow)
Since dropping down the pecking order in the Super Eagles squad, Ahmed Musa has played second fiddle to the trio of Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi and Moses Simon.
With Moses, Iwobi and Simon preferred to the Russia-based winger in the Super Eagles starting lineup, a good performance in the games against Poland and Serbia will put Musa back in reckoning for a place in the starting lineup for the three-time African champions.
Brian Idowu (Amkar Perm, Russia)
Super Eagles left back Elderson Echiejile missed the game against Argentina and that gave Ola Aina and Brian Idowu an opportunity to showcase themselves playing in the left wing back role. Idowu capped his debut appearance with a goal, which gave the Super Eagles a 3-2 lead in the international friendly which Nigeria eventually won.
The FC Amkar Perm defender will be hoping to prove his mettle with the return of the first choice left back Echiejile and Ola Aina also in the squad. Idowu has scored once in 21 league games in the Russian topflight division. A fine performance in the friendlies may just make Rohr and his technical teams ponder about handing him a chance in the World Cup bound team.

Eze Stephen (Lokomotiv Plovdiv, Bulgaria)
Eze Stephen’s performance at the African Nations Championship gave him a rare chance in the main Super Eagles team and he must now grab the opportunity with both hands to hold on to his spot.
Even if the Home Eagles lost in two finals – the West African Football Union Nations (WAFU) tournament and the African Nations Championship, Eze’s form for the team earned him a place in the team of the tournament.
He will be up against the likes of Kenneth Omeruo, Uche Agbo and Chidozie Awaziem for the final two centre-back spots in the team for the World Cup.

Okechukwu Gabriel (Akwa United)
In 2015, Okechukwu Gabriel made the headlines after he was named on the substitute’s bench for the Super Eagles in an African Nations qualifier against Chad in Kaduna and he was handed the iconic No. 10 jersey by the late Stephen Keshi.
Three years on, the 22 year old Akwa United striker has developed very well but there is no guarantee that he will have a place in Nigeria’s preliminary squad for the World Cup.
With several players in the squad capable of playing as a backup striker to the team’s first choice, Gabriel will have to take his chance if he is to be assured of a spot in the team.
Odion Ighalo is already guaranteed of a spot for the World Cup barring any severe injury, the final spot for a striker currently in the team is a fight between Junior Ajayi and Gabriel.
So it’s safe to say that an impressive performance for the Super Eagles will however mean that the 22-year-old is all but guaranteed at least another chance in the team for the next friendly against DR Congo in May.

Uche Agbo (Standard Liege, Belgium)
Uche Agbo has not featured for the Super Eagles since he has been receiving invitation to the team. Getting an opportunity to play will give him a chance to prove his place in the team.

Belgian-Based Super Eagles Star Playing Under A False Identity, Risks Deportation
A Nigeria international based in Belgium, whose identity is being protected by allnigeriasoccer.com due to ongoing investigations by the authorities, is at the risk of deportation from Russia if he is included in Nigeria's 2018 World Cup roster.

The winger, who has been likened to a Ballon d'Or winner, is playing under a false identity and with a forged passport, thereby making his Belgian work permit invalid as it was obtained through deception.

The diminutive footballer played in Niger Republic for one year before running back to Nigeria, he misinformed his Nigerian Academy of his age and name after he left Niger.

It has come to light that the player contacted an infectious disease which was not disclosed to Flying Eagles officials until the start of the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup and this limited his appearances to just one game in the competition.

While in New Zealand, his blood level was very low and he was exposed to other players who were potentially in danger of contacting the disease.

The player is one of the 28 players called up for Nigeria's upcoming friendlies against Poland and Serbia.

Samuel Kalu is one guy I think deserves a chance in the SE more than any other player that is yet to be invited by coach Rohr. I never really watched that guy play until recently, and I could behold a deadly winger with enormous confidence, Skill, pace, trickery, goal threat and unpredictability.

In him, I saw another victor Moses in red-hot form. I dare not argue with people who state his superiority/quality over Simon.

Simon is Also a good winger but Kalu seems to be more deadlier with the advantage of goals threat and his current blazing form which is not on Simon's side currently.

This (Kalu ) is one player I've kept praying in my mind for Rohr to notice him ( if he's yet to) and invite him.

In-Form Kalu Upbeat About KAA Gent’s Belgian Title Chances

By Johnny Edward:
Nigerian forward Samuel Kalu believes his club KAA Gent stand a great chance of winning the Belgian top flight title this season after they qualified for the title play-offs, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Kalu scored a goal and provided an assist as Gent defeated Genk 2-1 in Sunday’s Belgian Juplier League clash to finish fourth in the regular league season.

Gent last won the Belgian League title during the 2014/2015 season and Kalu hopes the Buffaloes can replicate their good form in the play-offs to dethrone Anderlecht, the reigning champions who also qualified for the play-offs.
Gent will be participating in the play-off 1 for the seventh time and the 21-year-old winger who has scored six goals in 24 league games admits the task will be tough.

“I was satisfied. Everything ran smoothly, both for the team and myself,” Kalu who is Gent’s third top scorer told his club’s official website referring to Sunday’s win.

“Hopefully we can continue in this form when the play-off 1 starts. I’m looking forward to the games already and it will be exciting to win the games. It will not be easy, certainly not. But we will give everything.”

Yves Vanderhaeghe’s side will compete alongside Anderlecht, Club Brugge, Standard Liège, Genk and Sporting Charleroi in the Belgian Juplier League title.

Nigeria: Friendlies - Westerhof Hails Rohr Over Players Selection

Former Super Eagles coach Clemens Westerhof has said that Gernot Rohr's 28-man squad for the two friendly matches against Poland and Serbia is the best the country can offer.

The Dutch-born coach who led Nigeria to the knock stages of the 1994 World Cup stated that the squad looks good to do well at the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament if the coaches can prepare the team well.

"Good, that is the best team Nigeria has at the moment," he said, adding, "That is the team he (Rohr) will take to the World Cup. But they must fight, fight, fight to go to the quarter-final, semifinal, yes.
"Nigeria has good players, but they must prepare very well. The coach must get good tactics in the World Cup."

Westerhof qualified Nigeria for her first-ever World Cup in 1994, when the Eagles reached the Round of 16.

Yesterday's report

Everton in stand off over forward’s playing time, manager will only use him ‘if he can help team’
By Tom Coast - 15th March 2018

We’ve got yet another update on Henry Onyekuru’s status from Belgium, as the Everton loanee continues to recuperate from his knee injury sustained just before the new year.

Last we heard (from Anderlecht themselves) towards the end of February, the 20-year-old was back in England, working with the Toffees’ staff, and more information was meant to be given the following week.

However, that never seemed to happen, and DH have taken it upon themselves to find out what’s going on , about three weeks later, and it’s mixed news.

Everton want Onyekuru to play for them next season, and Onyekuru wants to play for Everton.

In order to do that, he needs to get a work permit, which he can also obtain if he plays at the World Cup for Nigeria.

However, to get selected for his country, he needs to play for Anderlecht, but they’re worried he’ll get injured again because he didn’t have surgery, at Everton’s request, to mend his knee injury.

Therefore, there’s a bit of a stand off, and DH say that Hein Vanhaezebrouck will only use Onyekuru in the final games of the season ‘if he can help the team’.

Despite all this, we still don’t have a return date for the young forward.

MORE PLAUDITS FOR BACK TO BACK MOTM EBERE EZE : SMITH, HOLLOWAY HAIL NIGERIAN STAR 
More Plaudits For Back To Back MOTM Ebere Eze :

Smith, Holloway Hail Nigerian Star

Nigerian wonder kid Ebere Eze continues to rake in the plaudits and steal headlines for his for his eye catching performances for Queens Park rangers in the English Championship

The 19 year old was again named the man of the match after another phenomenal performance in QPR’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Ebere whos reputation at Loftus Road is fast growing after his quick acclimatization to Championship-level football has been hailed by teammate Matt Smith who says that the midfielder could quickly become one of the best.

Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “We’ve seen a lot of Eb’s (Ebere Eze) in training so we all know what he is capable of.
“He’s certainly one of the best young lads I have seen coming through and I’ve seen the Lewis Cook’s and the Ryan Sessegnon’s of this world and I would put him in that category.

“I think he has so much potential and end product. I like that because some players will flatter to deceive but not only can he show his skills on the ball he has an end product.

“In the first team that is key because ultimately he will be judged on goals and assists and he has both in his game.”
In the same vein QPR manager Ian Holloway likened the Nigerian to QPR legend Stan Bowles who was most iconic players in QPR’s history after win at Aston Villa

“For a 19-year-old to produce that kind of performance made me really proud,” said the former Crystal Palace boss.
“He has wonderful ability. He is what every QPR fan cries out for, someone like Stan Bowles.

“It is wonderful to see but we have to teach him how to win. He floats and is very easy on the eye.”

People, How do you assess Victor Moses' present attacking brilliance, as he's been a permanent Wingback and never a winger at Chelsea which I want to believe is one of those factors affecting his current form particularly when going forward. I just hope it wont affect his confidence as he's that one player who constantly shoulders our attacking responsibilities in the SE the most.

Moses Odubajo Plays Again After 19 Months

Nigerian right back Moses Odubajo played his first competitive game after being out of action for close to 20 months.

The 24 year old former England youth International played 45 minutes for Hull City under-23s in their 2-1 win over Burnley
Odubajo had been out of action since July 2016 when he fractured his kneecap in a pre-season friendly against Grimsby Town
The Injury had effectively ruled him out of his first season as a Premier League player
The defender showed a few early signs of rustiness as early passes went astray, one of which could have proved costly as he gifted the ball to Clarets forward Dwight McNeil.

However he also showed signs of the old reliable full-back that starred in the Tigers’ promotion campaign under Steve Bruce in 2015-16, with a couple of trademark lung-busting runs into the opposition half as his confidence increased.

He was replaced by James Yatesat the end of the half

Odubajo could feature in the under-23s next game away at Crystal Palace on Monday

Nigeria want Hertha defender Torunarigha

Hertha Berlin centre-back Jordan Torunarigha has been offered a ticket to the 2018 World Cup by Nigeria, which would allow the Germany under-21 international to represent the same country as his father.

The Bundesliga player could switch allegiances and play for the Super Eagles, which his father, Ojokojo Torunarigha, won 12 caps for in the 1990s.

Eligible to play for both Nigeria and Germany, the Nigerian FA have now offered the centre-back a ticket to the 2018 World Cup, his agent, Thomas Zorn, has confirmed to B.Z.

"That's true. We have such a request from the NFF," Zorn said, and the paper added that Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has tried for several months now to win over the centre-back.

"Jordan must listen to his heart," Zorn said. "This request is a huge honour, and also a confirmation for his great development. But I think his journey for the German FA is not over."

Hertha coach Pal Dardai, 42, said that while "the World Cup is a huge chance for him, it might be better for his development if he first plays for Germany's U21."

"Maybe, he can even play for Germany one day," he said.

Coming through the ranks of Hertha's academy, Torunarigha has played for Germany's youth teams since late 2014, and since debuting for Berlin's pro team in February 2017 has made 21 appearances for the club in Bundesliga and Europa League competition.

Torunarigha has been selected for Germany's upcoming U21 European Championship qualifiers against Israel and Kosovo.
