I will never recommend to anyone to immigrate to the USA as an illegal alien. I get into trouble for that on here and labelled as "enemy of progress", etc.

You pursued a student visa and you secured it, then you have to go. It doesn't speak well for you to have people running through hoops for you and then you abandon their sweat.

Go for your masters abroad.
Come back for your NYSC and if after your masters you are above 30, opt for exemption letter.

Can't get any better than this. Go get your Masters. Who knows you may not need NYSC. The certificate it offers has never been a solid pre-condition to guarantee you a good job or a better life.

What do you need nysc for in the States? I am not understanding

Whenever you come back to Nigeria, you can apply for exemption or forget about it as you might be too old to need it when you return.

Hello Everyone,
I am a fresh graduate from a reputable Federal Polytechnic in Nigeria, I graduated in 2017 and I am supposed to go for youth service this year (2018 Batch A Corps) which will commence soon. But I have an issue bothering me which I need a good advice on.

Last year 2017 my sister who is in USA for close to 12 years wanted me to come and hustle abroad but it's not easy for youth to go there but through schooling, so she helped me to find a good public University to do Masters, I have done the necessary processing and I have been offered an admission for the Fall Semester starting August 2018, my Visa has also been granted.

The issue on ground now is that I want to have the NYSC certificate, probably if I can runs it as a ghost Corper and get the certificate on my behalf or if an exemption can be possible.

Please I need your sincere advice. Thanks.
how were u able to secure admission for masters with hnd certificate, Pls enlighten me more cos I thought is not possible

Everyone is advising you to run abroad... Nice and good. But what will you do when you are asked to present your nysc certificate abroad.... Heard of a case where a PhD holder in America... .medical dr for that matter was deported because of this nysc certificate.... And besides how will you ghost this nysc with biometric capturing.... Maybe there is something I don't know. . Go abroad if you want, but don't register for the nysc with the mind of ghosting it.. What if something goes wrong.... You can always come back and do it when the certificate will be requested.. ... This is my two cents...

Nysc certificate abroad? How? I'm not buying it. Tbh most Nigerian earned degrees are useless abroad so what exactly will an ordinary nysc certificate proove?

I thing I have to drop my own opinion about this, because this same thing happened to me last year.

I almost completed my NYSC then , before i got admitted for Master’s degree in USA. I applied for visa and I was granted . I had to go to my LI then about my plans to travel and if he can just keep collecting my #19800 but he said it’s thumbprinting and that it ain’t possible for him to help me that much. I pressed some other button but still the same response .

I left naija August last year for here and I never regretted doing so , even considering the fact that there is just few month left to complete my NYSC then ( I think 3month to completion).

My advise for you is that , try your best to see if you can ghost it , but if you can’t, please just leave naija and pursue your dreams in USA . Then maybe in the future, if you got some things to do in Nigeria that requires NYSC, then you can always do it provided age is still on your side .

NYSC is overrated . You’ll even get better job here after completing school , so why are you even bothering about NYSC for God sake .

This is my own token .

op which VO gave you a visa for a semester starting in August?? And for most USA schools, admissions for fall semester 2018 just started. your story doesn't add up. Again if this was true, you wouldn't need anyone of us to tell you to leave naija like a flash.

If truly you have such opportunity to travel, just forget NYSC and go for your masters.

I'll only advice you do the NYSC registration when it begins then don't go for camping...you will be remobilised for the next batch and you will keep remobilising every batch till you finish your masters and decide to come back for NYSC again if your're still below 30.

Only thing is, you have to keep track of when the online registration is on for every batch. Simple!

HND graduates will not cease to amaze...

You see NYSC as an avenue to get affirmation/recognition as a graduate or else you would not be asking this silly question.

Dont let one Reno Omokri, Lauretta Onochie, Femi Adeshina, Lai Mohammed, and all politicians come and be preaching about the prospect in Nigeria... The prospect in Naija has been kidnapped by those old men.

Go book ur flight, please

It is not compulsory that you must do NYSC, you can put it on hold till you come back. Besides if you chose to remain there the discharge becomes useless. If you eventually get a job in Nigeria, how would you explain MSc in USA and NYSC in Nigeria within the same time frame?
