casualobserver1: True. Anyone that comes with a student visa should be planning/looking at changing to a different visa from day one if they plan on staying in the USA post graduate. |

bonjelow: I strongly recommend that you get that certificate just in case you might need it in the future. You never can tell. Option 1: Since you're a batch A corper, I assume you'll be going for service soon. You can start your service, travel in August and find someone to finish it for you (it may mean handing over your monthly allawe to the person + more as the case may be). Option 2: Defer your Fall 2018 (august) admission to Spring 2019 (January) by emailing the school. Since you already have your visa you can travel anytime (you probably know but a visa is only a permit that allows you travel to the country of issuance and ask to be allowed entry into it. A 2-year US visa doesn't mean that you have 2 years to stay in the US. It means that you have 2 years from when you got it to enter and leave the US multiple times. Your visa is different from your legal status in the US and are 2 different things. For example, if you proceed onto PhD after 2 years of msc you would still legally be in student status whereas your visa expired few months/years back and you would need to renew it if you need to travel to Nigeria, for Christmas for example, so you can re-enter the US), thus giving you a few more months to do more of your service then find a cover for the remaining 2 or 3 months while you travel out in December this year. 2 Likes 1 Share |

AreaFada2: Op please don't take this advice. Don't do the ghost corper thing but ignore the bolded. That it worked for someone doesn't mean it will work that way for you or anyone else. Besides that was 20 years ago not in this era that things are worse. A bird in the hand (Msc in US) is worth 2 in the bush (Prospective job after nysc). I am telling you what I would do if I was in similar situation. Don't waste your chance. 2 Likes |

bonjelow: Please I will advice don't runs it. Travel to USA, complete your Masters Degree, hustle, if you wish come and do your NYSC, if you don't, stay in the country where hole is profitable than here. cutting corners for your service may cost you unnecessary stress, just defile it for the mean time. Please, leave this country, please. Finally, you have to decide yourself on what to do, i.e , the final decision is yours. 1 Like |

You are still asking question? Please go do your masters and you will get opportunities there too. You can always come back and do the NYSC. I have a little cousin who is in Texas now, he is doing very well. Though he left Nigeria to US after secondary school. I think he is done with UNI and probably doing masters and working. He is doing very well financially. |

bros I will advice you to go and further your studies in abroad As for the pple that have commented earlier I noticed someone common in them and that is the use of abusive word. I know the mention of Nigeria and everything pertaining to it makes pple go gaga because of the current situation but pls let's learn to be nice while passing comment Thanks for reading my epistle |

bonjelow:Babe for now forget NYSC. You have visa already, admission is set, you may not get this opportunity next time. Whereas, you can come back for NYSC at any time. You can ghost your NYSC though, but it would be easier if you're posted to states that havent started doing the biometric clearance. Not all states have started biometric clearance, even at that liase with the LI in charge of your local government. Even if you do ghost, your certificate would be given to you in person, how do you intend to go about that? I just concluded NYSC last December and I absolutely see no usefulness of that scheme, except meeting new friends. Go for your studies jare. 1 Like |

fineyemi: I welcome you to join this thread for prospective US Master's and Undergraduate students where you'll learn everything that you need to starting from getting admission to your visa. You don't need an agent for anything, once you understand the process you can do everything yourself. Goodluck. https://www.nairaland.com/4225931/general-u.s.a-student-visa-enquiries-part |
