Feminist movements have campaigned and continue to campaign for women's rights, including the right to vote, to hold public office, to work, to earn fair wages or equal pay, to own property, to receive education, to enter contracts, to have equal rights within marriage, and to have maternity leave. Feminists have also worked to ensure access to legal abortions and social integration, and to protect women and girls from rape√, sexual harassment√, and domestic violence√. __________________________________________________ Feminist movements are for the following; now Self Acclaimed Nairaland Feminists Please Answer the questions below; _________________________ Answer with maturity not with insults. _________________________ 1. RIGHT TO VOTE; is there any country in this world where women are not allowed to vote? 2. TO HOLD PUBLIC OFFICE; except the Arab countries which other countries Barr women from holding public office? 3. EQUAL PAY; are women doing hard jobs, then the employers refused to pay them equally with the people who do harder parts? 4. TO OWN PROPERTY; where in this world are women women barred from owning properties? 5. TO RECEIVE EDUCATION; which country Barrs women from receiving education? 6. TO ENTER CONTRACTS; where are women barred from entering contracts? 7. EQUAL RIGHTS WITHIN MARRIAGE; this is the only part where I believe there's inequality.. well as Long as the notion of ;someone being the financial sponsor of the family continues, as long as someone being the head of the family notion continues there would be no equality in marriage. now let's review the Marxist feminism because I believe that is the root cause of problems being experienced by women. _________________________ MARXIST FEMINISM _________________________ Marxist feminism argues that capitalism is the root cause of women's oppression, and that discrimination against women in domestic life and employment is an effect of capitalist ideologies.Socialist feminism distinguishes itself from Marxist feminism by arguing that women's liberation can only be achieved by working to end both the economic and cultural sources of women's oppression.Anarcha-feminists believe that class struggle and anarchy against the state require struggling against patriarchy, which comes from involuntary hierarchy. Now we should understand what this saying means; Socialist feminism distinguishes itself from Marxist feminism by arguing that women's liberation can only be achieved by working to ideologies.Socialist feminism distinguishes itself from Marxist feminism by arguing that women's liberation can only be achieved by working to end both the economic and cultural sources of women's oppression now the answer. when you say working to end both the economic and cultural sources of women's oppression it simply means one thing; culture and economic dependence are the root causes of women's oppression. therefore before we can end women oppression we have to end cultural policies that oppresses women because I believe culture is one of the root causes of women's oppression(especially the cultural policies of the African continent ) In a Malawi for example there's a tribe there which have a culture of; when a friend visits a family, the wife must sleep in the same room with the visitor during the night and the visitor can decide whether to sex or leave her but she can't sleep with her husband when there's a visitor " this is an obnoxious culture that need to be stopped. and for the part of economic dependency I believe when women are financially viable oppression ,physical or emotional abuse would be reduced to the nearest minimum. _____________________ Equality _____________________ There are many things being done by men that women would never agree to do so how is the ideology of equality going to happen? . . 1. Hard Jobs; Women would never agree to participate in hard jobs. You would notice that 80% of women in the educational field, I mean when they're ripe for studying in the university most of them choose areas like;. banking mass communication, theatre arts, educational courses (for teachers) , journalism nursing .etc. you can notice that these career areas don't require hard work. 2. Proposal; In Primitive areas like the African continent women view proposing to a man as taboo, is that equality? no but as a result of culture hense the need for abolition of certain cultures. all said I think I've succeeded in taking my Time to go further in my research and views on "feminism " and the way some people sees it. 3 Likes |

Please we don't have feminists on Nland, we only have some set of confused Frustrated E-goats Feminist Wannabes (FEFW) . Note that. I bet you, they won't come to answer these questions, they will view this thread, leave, come back again, view and leave, they'll keep on viewing till one of their e-goat member comment, they'll wait for MissWrite to comment, then they'll all rush to hide behind her comment to advocate what they know nothing about, they will just be telling her, "You are right"... "You are wise"...." You are smart" ....they'll hide behind her comment to sound intelligent, they won't give their own smart view,... If you ask any of the e-goats a question, she'll direct you to MisWrite's comment....All they know is to be busy shouting "wow"...."wow"..."wow" like an ambulance at Misswrite's comment. stupid set of dumbos. Just watch and see. I once asked one of them... How are women being oppressed in the society? Guess what she answered , ...... She was crying, typing and telling me that Glo company sacked all their female workers ,...She also said that Nigeria schools don't offer chemical and mechanical engineering courses to female , can you imagine an answer coming from an e-goat that calls herself a feminist .. ..... I was like, Wha dafvck 8 Likes 2 Shares

Kimcutie:lol.. they won't.. on my earlier threads about feminism, no one showed up but I saw them viewing.. they lack educative statistics to counter my posts.. most feminists on nairaland are confused, they don't know the meaning of feminism.they don't know what they're fighting for. even that lady called MissWrite is just a dunder head. the feminism being practiced in Africa is backwards, not surprised though... everything about Africa is always backwards, when civilized nations are practicing it to the north, Africans will practice their own to the south. good night 4 Likes 1 Share |

I'm repeating it that these feminists on nairaland don't know what feminism means, they don't know what they're fighting for. dumber heads.. I pity people who waste their data in arguing with frustrated cowards like you people. 1 Like |

I often am amazed by the way the words feminist and feminism are thrown around on nairaland. We do not know the half of it. Anyone that speaks different from the norm in nairaland is branded a feminist and that's so far from reality! Imagine this for example! Who be this? donstan18: I have to totally agree with donstan18 on this one. There are no feminists on nairaland (myself included) its a far too deep concept to be practiced by every Amaka and Grace out there. It's much more than right to vote and equality in pay.... I mean most women want those things. It's so much deeper than that. Some feminist sects even advocate the total annihilation of the marriage and nuclear family institutions I'm arrahia men before they come for me. I am not feeling fine and all I will do is hug you. |
