Good day everyone, Please a quick question, will appreciate your kind advise. I served in a Federal Ministry during NYSC, how best do I capture this employment under personal history (I am tempted to have it as internship, although I was given a job title and all) to avoid it going through the long winded process of checking up Government employment. Technically I wasn't a civil servant in the grand scheme of things, but I am a bit skeptical because anyone looking at the details will consider it government employment, going by the name of the organisation. I am not claiming points for this, just for personal history. Many thanks |

[quote author=4Barr post=65968000] Long Post Alert. The Beginning When I started this journey in 2013 I applied for Study Visa and was refused based on the fact that the Visa officer thought I was unable to prove the source of the funds I was using as Proof of Funds. I was a little naïve in the visa application process at the time and although I applied myself, I tidied the application to the best of my knowledge but we all know that these visa officers do their best to weed people out based on any available excuse. Fast forward to 2014 I re-applied again this time with a better story and tuition paid upfront and was again rejected on the basis that I was unable to prove that I had sufficient funds to pay for tuition and survive without working in Canada. I was infuriated wondering where the visa officer left his glasses being that I had paid the tuition in full and attached the relevant receipts. Of course, I appealed, and nothing was done so I retained the services of an Immigration Lawyer I once met at a conference, did an affidavit and forwarded to him to appeal on my behalf. To cut the long story short I won and was later issued the visa, but I never travelled with the study visa, I guess the delay made me realise that I really didn’t want to travel on a student visa and as a single man. IELTS I joined the express entry thread in July 2017 after I enrolled for IELTS, for those still writing IELTS I believe the secret to acing it is to determine your strengths and weaknesses. For me, I didn’t have to practice Speaking, writing and Reading; they came to me naturally, but the listening bit was the mountain to surmount as I had to write it twice. Spend more time on the modules you are not naturally attracted to and work on areas of improvement. Some will require one week to practice depending on the areas of improvement while others may not get a grip of it until after a month. Big congratulations..greater things ahead |

Hello all, In the bid to claim more point i have decided to add my NYSC work experience to my years of experience. The problem is i served in Gboko Benue state and i cant possibly go back their for work reference letter, if i get someone who has a company and is also willing to issue me a reference letter as at my service date and i can back it up with my account statement where my allawee was paid will this be acceptable by CIC? I must say You all are doing a great job. |

bolarinnwa: This is fraudulent to say the least. If you are not willing to make sacrifices for your benefit this early on in the process, how much more packaging will you do as the process continues? If you can't make the effort to travel to get the letter or get someone to do it in your PPA on your behalf, then forget claiming the points for it. We are all here to encourage sincerity in this journey IMO 1 Like |

By all means i don't want to. But where i served is one of the most backwards states in the country. There's no assurance that i'll get the reference letter as i got information the school packed up. please do you know if i could just attach my dispatch letter to the school and back it up with my account statement. Good day everyone, Please I need answers to some questions as I have been going thru this thread,my questions are as follows: 1. I am a lawyer with 5yrs post call experience both in litigation and commercial practice and I am currently the legal manager of a coy...but I want to start this EE but dont know how to start. 2. I read here that I will have to sit for IELTS,and have my cert evaluated but I am confused whether my wife should also write the IELTS and also evaluate her cert too? 3. She has not changed her maiden name on her passport and the passport is still valid for 3yrs,can she write her IELTS with it if atal she will have to write it? 4.which score should I have for my ielts exams?and if my wife is not going to sit for the exams, what are our chances? Thank you all and God bless as you answer my questions. |

bolarinnwa: Me thinks you can ply the route of those who couldn't get employment reference letter. Draft letter on plain paper in CIC format Get it notarized Attach relevant proofs Attach LOE stating your plight Pray 2 Likes |

bolarinnwa: My dear you are not the first to have such issues and you won't be the last. Cutting corners and falsifying documents is not the way forward. Many people have had to wait for 1 full year before proceeding just to get the work experience. Dispatch letter and account statement will not be enough as they don't contain alot of the required information (e.g. job duties, work hours, etc.) 1 Like |

Barryston: Continue reading the thread. All the questions you have asked have been answered numerous times: 1. Start by reading page 0 (also page 0 of part 2) and calculating your projected CRS 2. This depends on your projected CRS score without the Ielts and ECA of your wife 3. She does not need to change her maiden name at all sef. I would even advise you continue with it as it is and later in Canada she can change her surname if she desires 4. Aim for the highest score possible and nothing less than 8777 in LRSW 1 Like |
