Why Do Brides, Grooms Cry During Weddings? by z11111: 6:49am On Mar 20, 2018 |
According to a report, the custom of crying during weddings, especially during traditional weddings existed a long time ago. According to elderly people in some traditions, every bride has to cry at the wedding. Otherwise, the bride’s neighbors would look down upon her as a poorly cultivated girl and she would become the laughingstock of the village. In fact, there are traditions in which the bride is beaten by her mother for not crying at the wedding ceremony. In some other traditions, usually, the bride begins to cry a month before the wedding day. As the night falls, the bride walks inside the hall and weeps for about an hour. Ten days later, her mother joins her, crying together with her.; Another ten days later, the grandmother joins the daughter and mother, to cry together with them. The sisters and aunts of the bride, if she has any, also have to join the crying. A groom was once asked why he cried at his wedding, read his reply below: Imagine being surrounded by your closest friends, your family, and a beautiful setting. Imagine standing in front of all these folks knowing you are as happy as you ever wanted to be and you know in a moment or two, there will be someone walking down the aisle who feels the same way for you. There may some nerves, but deep down you know you have found the woman you want to spend your forever with. At this point, you are feeling this rush of contentment surround you and warming your heart to its capacity. When this happens, you feel as though there is no way you could be happier or anything could be better. Suddenly, you hear the oohs, the ” she is so beautiful s,” and the pleasant reaction of your guests as your bride begins her graceful stride towards you. Now, at the culmination of all your joy and contentment, you lay your eyes upon the most beautiful woman in the world and you know, she is going to be your best friend and love of your life. To you dear nairander , if you are not married yet , are you going to cry on your wedding day ? If you are already , did you cry on your wedding day ? I can't even cry at funerals, I doubt I'd cry or even fake-cry to please people at a wedding. 2 Likes |

XhosaNostra: Same here , I would seriously have to try very much to fake the tears. Have you seen people throwing themselves to the ground at funerals? I always wonder where all of that comes from . As for the wedding , I always think maybe they feel it's a must to look all damp -eyed because Hollywood said so . 1 Like |

Nutase: I cried in only two funerals, noone will ever replace those people & noone is worth the same amount of tears as those two. So yes, my eyes are dry at funerals. My crying duty is over. The only time I'll sincerely cry again is if I lose a child, God forbid ! |

Lionessza: LMAO. Don't even get me started on drama queens at funerals. I'm even considering making a will with a guest list to boot. Certain people I don't want at my funeral because they have a habit of making the funeral about them. I won't have someone taking all the spotlight from me, on MY day Did you cry? 1 Like |

XhosaNostra: Lol, that's a nice idea , I should try it . Some people can be too much at funerals. Lol @ your day. I try to stay far away from cryers as I possible can , if you meant that much to me , I will weep uncontrollable when I'm alone . I hate feeling helpless . Lol, didn't see a reason to . 1 Like |

QueenSuccubus: lol, ofcourse, we weep for so many things(not that many though ). Im human well, they(Xander and Jesus) wept for other reasons, not to show 'true love'(the romantic kind though). |
Re: Why Do Brides, Grooms Cry During Weddings? by XhosaNostra(f): 7:54am On Mar 20, 2018 |
z11111: TBH, I think it has nothing to do with "tradition", but more about human emotions in general. It's a big day. A few important people probably passed on before seeing you walk down the aisle etc. I can imagine how emotional it must feel when your favourite aunt etc, is not there to witness your transition from Ms to Mrs. Huge milestones like that sort of bring back memories. You miss dead people. |

The most annoying thing is after all these tears of joy , maybe after some years , problem comes up in marriage trying to destroy it. Its really a big concern. XhosaNostra: 1 Like |

Lionessza: Same here. I prefer to be private about my emotions. Not this "Look at meeeee, I'm cryyyyying" shtick some people pull at funerals to get attention. I got mad when another one wanted to throw herself on top of the coffin while it was being lowered into the trench. While the deceased was still alive, they didn't even get along. I wanted them to let her, so they can bury her alive! Such fakeness. It's so annoying because during the theatrics, the attention shifts from the dead person, to the actress. It's mostly the women. I've never seen a guy act like an attention whôre at a funeral. Get on with that guest list lol. Don't give them a chance for an acting gig. Kikikikiki. I hear you. Nice 1 Like |

XhosaNostra: Lol, you can say that again about the actresses . They should have buried her fake ass alive , what's wrong with some people though , why use such an event to be on the spotlight . I have seen one guy and it was hilarious , he kept on screaming his dead sister's name whom he had not been in contact with for about 3 years , like really and he is a family member I dislike , for his acting skills lol. I remember my friend being pissed at her wedding , her aunt ( that she dislikes lol) was hullilating and screaming even when not necessary . Doing the whole " see, no one is happier for you than I am, look everyone ". It was so irritating , she kept on faking tears of joy , even though it was clearly all fake . The attention did shift from the bride and groom for sometime during her theatrics . Smh. 1 Like |

Lionessza: LMFAO. Wowu. I'm really surprised that guys can do that too, I've only seen women. Usually the men are more composed & dignified throughout the ceremony. Honestly, I think I'd laugh if I saw a guy acting dramatic at a funeral. My sister once pinched me during a funeral. I just couldn't help laughing at this one guy. He had a speech impediment & probably a mental problem as well. He kept interrupting the priest, talking gibberish. It was funny. Oh well, they say kuyahlekwa even in death. So I indulged myself in the live comedy. This thing of no invitations in our cultures is annoying, because even irritating people show up to dampen the mood. Mnxm. 1 Like |

XhosaNostra: Hahahaha, some people are funny . I seriously don't like the no invitation culture , I only want close friends and family but it's " un-African " mxm . But if ever I would have i event enjeya, I would stick to my guns and pick only the people I want and maybe a few of those I dislike but can atleast tolerate lol. 1 Like |

Re: Why Do Brides, Grooms Cry During Weddings? by Nutase: 3:54pm On Mar 20, 2018 |
MissRaine69:The funeral part was my focus. Its hard to go for a funeral and not feel like shedding tears. The sober atmosphere, loved ones wailing. You will definitely get infected with d watery bug. |
Re: Why Do Brides, Grooms Cry During Weddings? by MissRaine69(f): 5:09pm On Mar 20, 2018 |
Nutase:Like I said grief affects people differently I would rather tears shed are genuine not forced. I have attended funerals and not always shed tears why? The relationship of the deceased and the mourner night play a part. Some mourn privately. It’s a social expectation that’s a bit complex |
