Ehimeomo: Renew your passport, NIS will cancel the old one but your US visa on it will still remain valid till it expires. Attach both the new and old passport together and carry both while travelling. Happened to my wife one time. 2 Likes |

Ehimeomo: It has happened to me a couple of times. Your old passport will be cancelled without prejudice but your visa will still be very valid! You will just travel with both passports at all times |

hello everyone, i hope we all have had a good and productive day. Please i need your help with info or references to where to get info on how to prepare for my Visa application. I was refused in 2016 march because the V O thought the amount i paid for Hospital bill was low because the government must have contributed (i used the old MIHS maternity package and paid 2300). i read somewhere here that similar issues had been attended to/spoken about in the part 5 thread, i have perused through that thread and still doing so but haven't found any useful tips/advice that may help my application. please help out with tips or advice that would improve my chances. PS (Veterans likeNefertiti, Ozycy, Firstymum and all who used to drop page numbers and links please get in here or PM me would be well appreciated.) Thanks 1 Like |

Sorry Ogemele, I'm just seeing your message. Hotel accommodation was good, I got the Oryx Airport Hotel. If your hotel is outside the airport, it's usually a lot of stress. By the time you'll be settled in the hotel, you'll have only a few hours left before the flight. Especially if your layover is 8hours or less. You only get meal tickets from Qatar if the layover is about 14hours+. I don't remember how much the room-service cost me, but you can always grab a quick burger or something from the airport stalls. No problem at immigration. At boarding, after the doha layover, because I was pregnant, I was called aside to have a chat with an Immigration official. He asked why I was going to the states, and if I knew how much birthing costs were and all of that. He quoted the "it's not illegal to birth in the United States, but pay your bills..." line. And I was sent on my way. ogemele: 1 Like |

I can't say for certain, but a couple of weeks ago, DH was about to take a trip to the States, when he discovered his passports expiry date was quite close. He called the US consulate in Nigeria and was told he needed to have the 6-months validity of his passport, to be given entry to the states. So he had to renew his passport sharply. You should give the US consulate a call. Violetdaisy: |

it doesnt matter, let him book his appointment for a date after you would have arrived in the US. The main issue here is your ties to Nigeria and it clearly appears to the VO in question that it is questionable when you both jet out at the same time sazlex: |

IMO, 12k may seem too low a figure for the entire trip on a general basis. Somewhere in the region of 15-20 is more like it. 12k doesn't cover emergency should it arise et al. i may be wrong but you can reapply Mamaiyanu: 2 Likes |

He can change it to b1/b2 I think. You can try Abuja as well for a faster date. I wanted to reapply in Lagos but the earliest date I got was June 11 after refreshing like one million times and checking at odd times of the day and night. I decided to peek at Abuja and voila! April 26 was staring me in the face. I jejely changed to Abuja sharply. All the best! sazlex: 1 Like |

Saldway: Some VO are suspicious of large hospital/doctor discounts. Please re apply. You may get another VO who has a different view. If denial was in Lagos...you may want to try Abuja. @all, not sure if I'm nit picking but given this experience regarding the US address...maybe people should indicate their residential address as the Nigeria address and indicate the U.S. one under mailing address...so it's clear. 4 Likes |

MadameU: As I already responded to this same post on another thread. Apparently, that maternity birthing package that you used was meant for women who can show proof of being full time Maricopa County residents and of which you were not. You were just an international resident who so happens to stay temporary in the county just for birthing purposes. |

Hi all, Please I need advise to the following questions Had my baby in the US on my last visitor visa, Paid all hospital bills in cash, have all receipts, Did not use medic aid. I want to renew my visa as its expired. 1-My husband's visa will expire in early August , Can he apply for renewal in April for a planned trip for end of August or is too early? 2-As i had a baby is it ok,me and my husband apply together or is it good we apply seperately? Both have been issued visa before seperately before marriage. 3-Is it obligatory to apply through drop box if you had a visa before or can you still apply to the the face to face interview? For our situation which is better? drop box or face interview. 4-Couple have a child who was born in the USA, when filling area people travelling with you on the DS160 form , is if advisable to state the child will be travelling with parents as visa is not required or is it not necessary? Thank you. |
