For those that care to learn..

MP count is like a Frame.. just like you have 21 inch TV..

There is also Micron which is the resolution on the camera, we can say SD, HD, FHD and 4k..

You do not expect an SD resolution TV/monitor to be sharp than a 4K type even though they are both 21" TV

In addition there is OIS, Aperture, dual pixel and others that adds to camera quality..

OEM we're going the incremental S5 was 16MP.. then 12MP was introduced.. now 12PM seems to be the standard...

While some OEM still use MP counts but Google nanaged to produce the best camera phone that has only 12MP..

A more objective comparison is the front and back camera of the same CX, both are 16MP but different aperture. More importantly, Back cam is by Sony IMX298(yes, same one the Mi 5 uses) and front cam is probably a proprietary sensor.

Xiaomi should try to make HDR be on automatic settings like Tecno has done.
If it's off by default, majority of users would never think to turn it at the point of taking a picture outdoors coz HDR takes a long time to process a photo and people aren't that patient.

HDR is automatic in some Xiaomi phones like Mi Max and Mi Max 2, even at that, it's best to use such settings manually because' computers are still dummies '. Have never seen a professional photographer use automatic settings for similar reason.

Exactly, and environment must be well lit to get the 'exceptional quality', a 5 mp 2010 back camera can even do better in more tricky environments.

Chinese version comes with China rom, Global rom can be Chinese version that has been flashed with Global rom. The Chinese version lack a 4G band ( I think band 20) available in the Global version. Both Chinese and Global versions work fine here with our network providers, both don't support Glo 4G (band 28). Chinese version doesn't mean phone's language is set to Chinese, it's English too, but some apps ( useless apps to you) are in Chinese, and Google playstore and other Google services don't come preinstalled, you can install them yourself in a matter of minutes. If you are concerned about the band 20 (this is one of the 4G bands MTN uses; I think SMILE 4G also uses this), then get the Global version.
