What a turnaround. Portugal scored 2 goals in 4 mins. Meanwhile we just beat Poland in Poland. I didn't watch the match but I know I'll sleep well. Cheers cool cool

- We must work on maintaining our NRG well into the 2nd half
- Uzoho was a bit shaky at start but gelled into the match; he should start next match; needs to be tested more
- we need to fix our attack and be more creative
- The Oyinbo wall were seriously instrumental

somehow :
Whatever happens today, remember that this is a friendly match.
I expect at least 2 goals.
A PK might show up against us.
Apart from Mikel, the 1st 11 shouldn't have issues showing us what to expect in Russia come June.

AllforJesus7:

I am very certain we will either win or come out tonight with a draw (bookmark this and quote me after the game).

Our wins against Argentina, Zambia, Algeria and Cameroun are no flukes. It is true that we have not played an European team (until tonight) which would proffer us the opportunity to gauge our tactical strength as European teams emphasize on technicality.
Albiet I have faith in the team and from what many have observed we no longer play our traditional style of football. We are technical. We play to our strength. We actually play European football now and we have fund a way to mix it with our traditional attacking threat and rawness.

We are at par at the moment with what technical capabilities many European teams may have to offer in the game and I can guarantee that in technique, we will cancel out most European teams. Our edge over them will be our raw attack (all things being equal).

Like I said, bookmark this and quote me after the Poland and Serbia games. We will do well in all five. (Poland, Serbia, England, Croatia and Iceland).

However with South American teams I admit it may be a different story grin grin grin

Somehow can you come in now for the debate? grin

I said so didn't I? We will cancel out most European teams we play against in terms of technique. Poland is 6th on the FIFA ranking and we beat them at home.

Add the pivot of Mikel to our midfield and we are good to compete.

Only concern is set pieces and goal keeping. Uzoho will come good ( I doubt we will find another quality goalie before WC). Today's experience is vital for him and he settled into the game in the 2nd half.

Quote me again after the Serbia game. grin

he was obviously jittery in the first half. It was a big game for him, so that can be understood.

It's good that Rohr kept faith with him and played him the full 90 minutes and even better that he repaid that faith with an impressive showing in the second half

Expected from a 19 year old.He will get better.

I am not worried about our attack, this was essentially an away game

Better second half

Moses: selfish but special.
Iheanacho: ok performance
Uzoho: "Nigeria has found a giant in this young man"
Musa: should have got a goal off Onazi's clever pass
Onazi: better than J. Obi going forward ESP
J. Obi: showed his destroyer side
Shehu: past this test
Ebuehi: looks set for Russia
Ekong & Balogun: don't touch that pair
Ekong: my MOTM
Idowu. Not excellent, but soaked the pressure. Better than Echiejile still.
Iwobi: showed his Arsenal side
Ndidi: hard worker always. Untouchable

Who am I missing?

He wore that Captain's Armband with grace and dedication. He stepped up in a leadership position and took charge.

I'm glad we have him with us and he isn't out there in Netherlands, collecting goals from the Queen's boys

Points to note:
1. No immediate sub for Mikel, our AM was blunt in this match
2. Ekong has a noticeable blind side which is his left leg, he must work on this
3. Our left full back is lacking even though ID did a good job today
4. Uzo can improve but he grew into the match today
5. VM can be annoying sometimes but he's the best solo player we have on his good day

Another lesson learned

A three man midfield is the way forward, especially against very good teams. Toady we lost the midfield battle despite the valiant effort of Ndidi and Joel. We were simply outnumbered in that part of the pitch. Throw in Mikel in place of either Iheanacho or Ighalo and the table would turn. We can't afford to cede possession like we did today in the mundial and have opponents create chance after chance.

Vic Moses... Sometimes you want to stone the guy, sometimes you want to Kiss the guy.

But the coach just sent a message to Nacho, sometimes you have to work for ya balls. Vic Mo is more important than Nacho, so Nacho has to develop his game to fit into how Vic Mo plays, although that diminishes the teams potential, but with the way Vic Mo can all of a sudden impact a game (like he did today with the penalty) I perfectly understand Rohr. He knows what he will get from Vic Mo day in day out.
