Ebuehi for RB. Shikena

Thoughts on Balogun

Better second half

Moses: selfish but special.
Iheanacho: ok performance
Uzoho: "Nigeria has found a giant in this young man"
Musa: should have got a goal off Onazi's clever pass
Onazi: better than J. Obi going forward ESP
J. Obi: showed his destroyer side
Shehu: past this test
Ebuehi: looks set for Russia
Ekong & Balogun: don't touch that pair
Ekong: my MOTM
Idowu. Not excellent, but soaked the pressure. Better than Echiejile still.
Iwobi: showed his Arsenal side
Ndidi: hard worker always. Untouchable

Who am I missing?

Odion Ighalo ❓

Ebuehi is definitely more comfortable on the ball than shehu.

Going forward yes and doesn't panic but Shehu seems the better defender.

Not that he has "probably never", he has "never" played in that kinda atmosphere before. It's good Rohr gave him that kinda experience cos those are the kinda crowds he'd see at Russia although the supportership maybe 50 - 50 at any given game; unlike today it was 95% against Naija. Thumbs up to Rohr.

He has probably never played in front of that kind of crowd.

It would have been easy to sub him at half time but we can see that the talent is there.. Great by Rohr

The only positive from this game was the defence and goalkeeper, if not i dont we did anything good, no connection between the defenders and attackers, no coordination in the midfielder, I bet if that balogun clearance had been counted ( cos it was clearly a goal) we wouldnt have been saying mosses sabi dribble.

To me mosses played like a slowpoke, he is not a good teamplayer at all, only releases ball when he is under pressure, and that free kick shld av been taken by iheanacho.

Spot on.

Mikel will always be Mikel.
He is simply irreplaceable. Just like Jay Jay was.

I'm so happy to see Sir. Oasis007 agree to the above.

We had a very good start(first 10mins) to he extent that we could have gotten a goal.

The polish inhibited our free flow game by putting their men behind the ball and
Our lack of a holding playmaker made matter worse.

***
Uzoho grew into the
game.

Idowu was jittery and that made him a suspect.

Balogun did well. But his lack of pace is still something to worry about.

Ekong is truely a warrior at the heart of defence. But his ball distribution is nothing to write home about.

Shehu was okay. He made some crucial tackles. Though some of which are reckless and could cost us against a more clinical side.

Ndidi was not in his best today

Joel was fair. His decision making was below par(maybe because he played as a DMF)-and that was one of the reason I was not in total support of their combo few weeks ago. But I will wait to see him play alongside Mikel.

Kelechi-was below average.

Iwobi started well but faded out quickly.

V. Moses is always a different player in the GWG. He made the difference today. Though he started poorly.

Ighalo was simply anonymous.

Ebuehi is truly a top talent. His positioning were top notch, his pass accuracy and confidence level are beyond his age and league. He did well even when he drifted to the RCB.

Musa will always be Musa. He would've atleast connected with Onazi's ball but he was already ahead of the ball. So much pace.

Omuero too was okay.

Overall, Mikel is the one that makes the eagles Super...

Poland is actually very good. Today was a bad day for them. Either of two teams could easily have won it by 2-1. Nigeria just didn’t give up. They chased every ball and didn’t show signs of fatigue till the final whistle.

This match should not be used to judge either of the two sides.

Poland had far more cohesion than us in thier passing and team structure.

We lacked inventiveness that unpredictable spark the only player doing that albeit selfishly at times was V.Moses. We need additional flair in the midfield.

However, in terms of athleticism and speed we were clearly superior. that's what gave us the win. But that's what it was a slim win good yes but we have more work to do.

There is disconnect with our front line they just don't seem to have fused properly.

This was a tough game Poland played to win and towards the end almost do or die football.

In this regard a good win particularly when you consider NOBODY WAS INJURED.

Coach Rohr's post-match comments

Coach Gernot Rohr: "We were lucky to have won this game against a very solid Polish side. They created some big opportunities to score and were dangerous from set pieces that we found difficult to cope with but I praise my team for their victory."

"This team is a young team but also a team of leaders. If we stay humble & continue to work hard to improve our play we have huge potentials, but beating 2 FIFA top 10 teams in friendlies doesn’t mean we are now World Cup favourites."

I just love his choice of words. wink

He's not as bad as you think he is bro. He wasn't the only one that had a bad game. For your information, He's now in a bigger club in Bursaspor, Turkey.

But Ebuehi is better nevertheless
Thanks for the update

Anyways shehu performance was still poor. He was slow and lacked composure. Imagine him playing like this against Argentina or Crotia
The ebuehi guy seems to be more stable

Like play like play,Ebuehi will soon take that RB spot from Shehu ooo. dude is a baller and very handsome grin grin .. We really miss Mikel tonight....

With us playing Serbia at a neutral venue, I expect us to beat them well...

As for our jersey, its hot!!! grin

Why has Aina not had a chance to play RB a position he was voted best RB in the championship.

For me Ebuehi is better going forward and Shehu is better defensively and Aina is somewhere in between. But I can't say for sure till he plays at least 45 minutes. Hopefully Aina willl play against Serbia.

Omeruo---Average
Uzoho---average(not yet convinced abt his confidence level).d world cup is a different ball game, bin d last man of defense, any slight mistake, we re out.

There was a lack of cohesion.

The invenrtive unpredictable spark that flair and skill give you was too obviously lacking.

The darling of this thread KC didnt stand up to.be counted as a forward players. You get boldness to crticiquality

It's not too late to bring in other players to be considered. Particularly experienced tried proven and tested players.

All I want to say is Well done Super Eagles.... smiley I have no need going player for player... But Ekong was the best of the lot for me and Victor Moses still showed why he is the boss and livewire of the Super Eagles Attack. Amazing how we beat Argentina without him (Ofcos Mikel alone can make a decent attack of Nacho and Iwobi look like Magic).

Yes, VicMo was selfish, and full of himself at times especially on that freekick he should have left for Nacho buuuuuutttttt.... Live with it... That guy is our biggest gun after Mikel. #Fact #CaseClosedOnThat

Breakout star of the game.... "Big" Francis Uzoho smiley

Lord! That one-on-one save against arguably The world's best no.9 is gonna do something magical to Uzoho's confidence and mindset going forward. His morale is boosted after another fine shutout (another cleansheet) and he can only get better from here. He was jittery yes, but he is 19 and has not faced such huge crowd before with the whole stadium egging Poland on... Uzoho showed heart.... And I think this is the heart we need between the sticks. A Young lad with a Big Heart for the Grand occasions.
His scary face, big frame, super height and Big Heart... Hmmmm... Watch out for this lad. He is Nigeria's next number 1.

Iheanacho was kinda quiet today apart from a couple of fine interchanges/interplays and I was right to warn you all to not expect him to do even half of a Mikel... Despite that his shift on the overall was just moderately okay. I expect more from him (if he gets to start) against Serbia in the presence of Mikel.

The midfield combo of Ndidi and Joel did more tackling, marking, and ball winning rather than stringing consistently fine passes together to connect To Nacho and the other forward men. This left Nacho to come pick up stray balls deep in midfield sometimes.... Truly Mikel is the boss as I have always said.. The odogwu himself remains the best man for the no.10 role in this SE set-up.

With time, more will be said as we look forward to having a really solid 23-man squad for the mundial but I will end by saying, this win was massive and it is a big deal indeed. Beating a LewanGOALSki-led polish team (no.6 in the world) with our world no.52 team... *whistles** I say, this is huge mehn... After all we are not world class... But we have done it over two world class top 10 teams in Argentina and now in Poland. And this Poland result came in Wroclaw, Poland in front if their 48,000 passionate fans..... I say our young team deserve the credits. We can only get better.

yes he handed us the win; he as the energy and physicality, but he lacks creativity. I love is confidence with the ball also, but he needs to improve more on his game as an x-factor.
I know he was kinda selfish but it also worked to our advantage in disguise.

He kept coming at the Polish defence with his trickery and mobility which subjected the defenders in a state of somewhat pressure and errors. Which eventually led to that penalty.
