I think Rohr should resolve the deadball issue. Kelechi iheanacho should take any freekick or corner kick from the right. then V Moses(in the absense of S Moses) takes freekicks from the left but Mikel should take all corner kicks on the left. Moses has been really wayward with freekicks and corner kicks, he should quit being a big boy and relinquish such responsibilities to capable hands. Finito!

i think Moses needs a partner in crime that understands him in the team, like the Emenike-Ideye pair.

I noticed that after he dribbled, no one came out to receive him pass, no one. I have a problem though, he is selfish. and we don't need this at the mundial where we would be punished for that.

good angle, our defenders have improved in their comfy kinda passing and accuracy.

Balogun is low on confidence, he would have made mistakes if he was at CB. He did well at LB though.

which match you watch? balogun at LB?

The only positive from this game was the defence and goalkeeper, if not i dont we did anything good, no connection between the defenders and attackers, no coordination in the midfielder, I bet if that balogun clearance had been counted ( cos it was clearly a goal) we wouldnt have been saying mosses sabi dribble.

To me mosses played like a slowpoke, he is not a good teamplayer at all, only releases ball when he is under pressure, and that free kick shld av been taken by iheanacho.

The goalkeeper crises is not yet settled. Make we no deceive ourselves.

Uzoho lacks the basis of goalkeeping. We were exposed several times.

but the dude is not complaining..neither is the coach..
his time I believe will come.....for now let him stick to the bench...
he is helping in trainings I believe...
Any difference between training and a friendly game? If for anything Agbo can't feature in a friendly game, den why will he feature in a competitive game? Dis friendly is meant to promote the team chemistry as well as try players like him who hardly get game time in competitive games. Will u allow him go to the world cup and sit on the bench throughout wen his place can be given to another player dat is ready to fight and improve the team? If he doesn't play Serbia game, den sometin is wrong. Very simple

who noticed the formation changed to a 3-5-2 during the last 5 minutes and victor moved to RWB ?And ebuehi as one of the Central backs.

You are obsessed with 3-5-2 formation, Moses only went back to help the defence, musa did too

Perspective: Poland was at home. We practically played and defeated a Lewandowski-led Polish side in front of a 42,000 polish crowd.

Not a small deal!

That's the koko. Nevertheless, the coach should make little adjustments.

When he doesn't bring goals I want to see him do lots of pressing. He didn't do that today either.

Poor.. we have no choice but to settle for false nines. It's a good thing we tried a different formation today. Rohr is doing a great job.

There was no false 9 in that game yesterday because Ahmed Musa rightly played the striker role.

Aina said he likes playing at LB. We should try him out again there.

But he plays week in week out mostly as a RB in the championship and has been voted the best RB in the championship.

A player needs opportunity so we can actually see what he can do. Training gives you some insight but he needs a full 45 minutes in a game before any initial deductions can be made.

The question has to be answered in relation to the SE does he bring something more than Shehu and or Ebuehi. So he should be tried at RB as well.

It's possible that Aina can play both RB & LB then that's a very good plus ➕ for the team.

I do think that Aina may combine better with V.Moses from thier Chelsea experience.

The type of opposition we met also affected our overall play, in addition to Mikel's absence. The Polish were so physical, didn't expect that from a European side. This affected Iwobi and Iheanacho who are no gra gra footballers. Again, is it just me or the turf was not really good? I noticed the ball was bouncing kinda.

We should not play the 4-4-1-1/ 4-4-2 formation, Midfield was thin today..

Iwobi was restricted to the wing but he does his best work when he comes to the center to link attack and midfield.

I understand Balogun picked a knock but should be fine in a few days..

Iwobi is not a winger

You are saying something I have known for some time. I may have even mentioned it. KC lacks physical presence and struggles to impose himself on defenders the same way Ighalo does.

Iwobi is use to pretty football at Arsenal and doesn't like the physicality of gra gra football. This is where Etebo has a clear advantage over him.

Dey really did not play badly. It was just few times in training together after some months of playing together, believe dey will gel more & more when dey camp for world cup

Ndidi, Mikel and Joel combo could be devastating for any team. I hope Rohr tries that mo we see. grin

I noticed some few issues in that match. Congratulations though to the Super Eagles:
1. Victor Moses is skillful but selfish
2. Joel Obi is talented, tested and trusted
3. Alex Iwobi does not tick in every physical game. Even that against South Africa, he was lost. The Polish team were too physical for him.
4. Wilfred Ndidi, Shehu Abdullahi and Troost Ekong are both rock solid.
5. Francis Uzoho needs more friendly games to boost his confidence. Maduka Okoye should also be drafted in too.

I was about commending your write up and you end with Maduka Okoye, we have 3months to world cup and you want a new keeper again

The Polish National team is a overrated bag of shite.

The FIFA Rankings is an even bigger piece of shite.

Uzoho is definitely going to Russia.

Eagles are so short of creativity that they can't even make a cake.

One-man teams will suffer this year.

Moses dives better than dolphins.

The Eagles thrive on confidence.

Eagles need a defeat ASAP, to bring them down to earth for they aren't World Cup quality yet.

The squad is so deep, that we don't have a "strongest lineup".

Only Mikel can suppress Moses' authoritative attitude.

Absence of VAR at the World Cup might start World War III.

Ekong is a rock.

We are Nigerians, We Will Survive.

TheLoneCitizen:

Moses causes more harm than good to the Eagles due to overconfidence, he would be willing to shoot when passing is key.

I still maintain my stance that Moses is too overconfident and authoritative, he had some chances he ought to pass where he didn't. There was a counter where he opted to shoot from outside the box when he had teammates.

When Joel Obi, was the architect of a counter later, he opted to shoot also when he could have pass. This means, that Moses as a big player to the team, influences the team whether negatively or positively. More harm than good.

Captain Ekong cannot tame him, Ndidi would have been great but age difference. I think Onazi is the next best leader to Mikel. It's a shame we couldn't score more against a very abysmal Poland. Our creativity and composure was just nonexistent.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by somehow: 9:28am On Mar 24, 2018
One thing some of us are missing is the fact that Mikel not only distribute passes, he holds on to the ball and also tracks back to defend, these attributes are lacking in Iheanacho, so there was no way he would have slotted in.

The closest to Mikel right now is Joel Obi, Onazi is also a candidate but his passes aren't top notch.

I am waiting to see Rohr play Joel Obi as CM/AM like Mikel and not pair him with a DM to know how good he is offense wise
TheSuperNerd:
All I want to say is Well done Super Eagles.... smiley I have no need going player for player... But Ekong was the best of the lot for me and Victor Moses still showed why he is the boss and livewire of the Super Eagles Attack. Amazing how we beat Argentina without him (Ofcos Mikel alone can make a decent attack of Nacho and Iwobi look like Magic).

Yes, VicMo was selfish, and full of himself at times especially on that freekick he should have left for Nacho buuuuuutttttt.... Live with it... That guy is our biggest gun after Mikel. #Fact #CaseClosedOnThat

Breakout star of the game.... "Big" Francis Uzoho smiley

Lord! That one-on-one save against arguably The world's best no.9 is gonna do something magical to Uzoho's confidence and mindset going forward. His morale is boosted after another fine shutout (another cleansheet) and he can only get better from here. He was jittery yes, but he is 19 and has not faced such huge crowd before with the whole stadium egging Poland on... Uzoho showed heart.... And I think this is the heart we need between the sticks. A Young lad with a Big Heart for the Grand occasions.
His scary face, big frame, super height and Big Heart... Hmmmm... Watch out for this lad. He is Nigeria's next number 1.

Iheanacho was kinda quiet today apart from a couple of fine interchanges/interplays and I was right to warn you all to not expect him to do even half of a Mikel... Despite that his shift on the overall was just moderately okay. I expect more from him (if he gets to start) against Serbia in the presence of Mikel.

The midfield combo of Ndidi and Joel did more tackling, marking, and ball winning rather than stringing consistently fine passes together to connect To Nacho and the other forward men. This left Nacho to come pick up stray balls deep in midfield sometimes.... Truly Mikel is the boss as I have always said.. The odogwu himself remains the best man for the no.10 role in this SE set-up.

With time, more will be said as we look forward to having a really solid 23-man squad for the mundial but I will end by saying, this win was massive and it is a big deal indeed. Beating a LewanGOALSki-led polish team (no.6 in the world) with our world no.52 team... *whistles** I say, this is huge mehn... After all we are not world class... But we have done it over two world class top 10 teams in Argentina and now in Poland. And this Poland result came in Wroclaw, Poland in front if their 48,000 passionate fans..... I say our young team deserve the credits. We can only get better.

to be honest Ighalo played below par yesterday...he was always missing in the opponent team yard box....and could not make use of the aerial balls...not really interesting for me...

I will want Gabriel and Ajayi to be tried out...in the serbia friendlies....and Ighalo rested

oga calm down, ighalo got no supply atall, ighalo is our best player and Poland cut all supply to him, the poor person should be Nacho, he was suppose to go deep, get the ball and link up with ighalo.

Coach Rohr's post-match comments

Coach Gernot Rohr: "We were lucky to have won this game against a very solid Polish side. They created some big opportunities to score and were dangerous from set pieces that we found difficult to cope with but I praise my team for their victory."

"This team is a young team but also a team of leaders. If we stay humble & continue to work hard to improve our play we have huge potentials, but beating 2 FIFA top 10 teams in friendlies doesn’t mean we are now World Cup favourites."

I just love his choice of words. wink

He was the only known threat attack wise, the rest were pedestrial especially iheanacho. Ighalo was quiet too but gave the defenders things to worry about with his high pressing.
MetalJigsaw:
I know he was kinda selfish but it also worked to our advantage in disguise.

He kept coming at the Polish defence with his trickery and mobility which subjected the defenders in a state of somewhat pressure and errors. Which eventually led to that penalty.

Dele has not been playing games. He can't be invited.

If any goalkeeper deserves to be invited it has to be Aiyenugba.

And Uzoho needs to consolidate on his confidence. He didn't have a terrible performance yesterday. In fact, I think he should keep for the remaining friendly matches. He needs to be tested as much as possible, so we can know what he needs to work on.
Sir am not condemning Uzoho and i believe he can do bettter but with what we have in our goalkeeping dept.Dele Ajiboye deserves a chance if keepers like Akpeyi and Ezenwa are getting a look in.

Ajiboye not playing?but is Ezenwa playing?

Sir,Ajiboye was in goal against de sahel in the 2nd leg and even came in in the first half in 1st leg after Plateau had conceded three goals, remember the second choice was doing well in his absence due to CHAN to the extent he was rated as one of the best in the league but Ajiboye is back as number one.
