I finally watched the match this morning and I must say that I was impressed. I still am cheesy. It could have been worse. About Joel,it's now so obvious that he's proven he deserves a place in the WC bound team. At least if not for anything, for his determination. Despite his seemingly unending fight against injuries,he was one of the boldest if not the boldest and fearless SE player on the pitch. That deserves an applause. U needed to have felt my fast paced heartbeats everytime he fell to the ground grin. I would prefer though, for him to be played in a more attacking form. Maybe an AMF so as to see that side of him more cos we definitely lacked those cutting edge passes. Well, that's why Mikel is Mikel. No one can replace him. We can only get a good enough or even better substitute but to replace him? Impossible. The time no even dey sef.

Ebuehi needs to start abeg. Shehu messed up yesterday with the defense(most of the time but made an incredible 2nd half block in the box). Victor Moses' new role at CHE also helped us as he sometimes covered up for Shehu in the first half,so that's a good thing. Bryan was definitely better than Echiejile. No doubt. I want to see Aina come in for Ebuehi as a RB against Serbia. Let Shehu rest small and let's see what Aina can do in his natural position.

All in all,it was a good game. I'm happy. Poland weren't so friendly after all. Not even a usual 'sorry' to our players after a bad tackle. But who cares? We beat them in their backyard in front of a 42k filled stadium in which 98% were white. I could only count about 4 Nigerians excluding the NFF so yes it was a big victory cheesy. Anyone who believes otherwise can kiss a skunk's butt for all I care.

. Lmao grin. This new SE team have and are still giving me so much joy. The last time I felt very close to this good was during the 2012 AFCON we won. So sad it ended too soon. Right now we have a lot of things in our favour: The undeniable talent, the present NFF and most importantly the unity amongst the players. Then add the new jersey to the list grin It's just incredible. What's there not to be happy about? There'll definitely be mistakes along the way but I doubt strongly that anything will make me stop supporting these boys. It's RIDE OR DIE baby. RIDE OR DIE!!! cool cool cool

Does Hope Akpan perfomance this season warrant a national team call up? I don't think so..

Omeruo has been very good at club level.. Besides Iorfa has played primarily as a right back this season. The right back position is saturated.

I can't agree less.. How many shots on goal did Ighalo get ?

For the Serbia game, the coach should go back to how we played Argentina up front, start Iwobi as the leading striker, Mosses and Iheanacho as supporting strikers. And at the break substitute Iwobi for Ajayi. I love Ighalo's strength and determination, but with the type of game him and Moses plays, it affects the free flowing game, the rest of the team played when they beat Argentina.

Our midfield was not poor up till the time Joel was substituted. We coped very well to the extent that lewandoski was removed for an additional midfielder. Then they began to kick Joel and vicmo. When onazi came on the midfield was shattered until when ogu was introduced. Go rewatch the match bro. Joel, onazi and ndidi should have started. Nacho left a big gap in the midfield by pressing high up the field side by side with Ighalo instead of staying behind him in the number 10 spot.

You're right. My choice of words were wrong. Wanted to point out that it wasn't until Onazi came in that it collapsed. Right from the start of the game our midfield was poor.

Yea I know he's not center forward but can do an ideye for Ighalo. This Iheanacho couldn't do for Ighalo yesterday.

Good to know he's in London.

We need the best for Russia. You don't win tournaments if you can't score goals.

Goals win tournaments, not power and strong head.
tbaba1234:

Ajayi is already in London

Ajayi is more of a support skriker not a point man.. He does not score many goals

This is Nigerian team has a making of a champion. First half we were in the heart of their defence, 1st ighalo shot that went way over the bar, then ighalo shot that was blocked and nacho cldnt control in the 6yard box. Then iwobis dummy dribble, then ighalos. We matched them in the midfield with just two midfields. Joel fought, ndidi fought like a tiger. Nacho hussled, ighalo persevered. Whenever we break on the counter they hack us down. In a world cup game, the poles will receive nothing less than 2 red cards yesterday. Immediately Onazi came in for Joel our midfield collapse and Ogu was brought in to stabilize things, which he did and we had some few chances to kill the game. The only mistake Joel made was shooting on goal instead of releasing a free striker on the counter.
I look in awe a midfield combo of Joel, Mikel and ndidi. Joel, onazi and etebo. Mikel, ndidi and onazi. Ogu, joel and etebo. Ogu, joel and ndidi. Joel, onazi and ndidi. On Tuesday, start ndidi, ogu and onazi bring Joel in the second half and see.
These team will shock the world mark this space.

This is why you test players and bring in new players to compare against existing ones.

We look at players progression in thier clubs we do not rely on past glories.

There are too many players who should have been tested but have been excluded. As it stands Aina is yet to be tested do we can make some deductions about his true quality.

That's why I asked for Obagoal to be tested is he past it His club form statistics are better than Ighalo's.

Can Omeruo be considered better than Dominic Iorfa we simply do not know. Why he has never been tested.

Is Agu better than Hope Akpan We will never know.

Is Aluko still quality is he a better AM than Iwobi he has been excluded by the powers that be, once again we will never know.

The question ❓ can we improve on what we have

Is Iorfa a Nigerian?

First of all, everything you said is debatable but over and above that; a football team is not necessarily a collection of best individual players but a combination of the best team. Like I had said several times, if we don't do well in Russia it isn't gonna be because we missed any individual player. Fact is: I cannot think of any player who isn't invited that could offer something SIGNIFICANTLY better than the players currently in the team. The keyword being significantly.

O pari

Kpom, double Kpom. It's an ego thing for him. Not necessarily for the good of the SE. I actually don't see him as a fan of the SE. At least his naija based ally can be regarded as a SE fan but not him.

It was a match that gave us the opportunity to have closer look of what we are expecting at WC and i will say not bad match but we still have a lot to do, no sentiment or emotive, the team need to tell us that they can do it without Mikel but just too obvious Mikel was a missing link yesterday.

RATING

5.Shehu Abdullahi was average and a little bit exposed and find it difficult to read the game and committed unnecessary foul which was avoidable but good Balogun and Ekong always on the rescued.

I think Ebuhei deserves to start Serbia match and let see him in 90 minutes cos Idowu performance was way below his Argentina rating, so better to see Ebuhei starting and let have good comparison but the moment he came in i saw a tactical awareness of good RB and am suspecting Ola Aina might even gives us better options but definitely am seeing Ebuhei and Aina good options than Shehu,a makeshift player cannot be better than natural player in his position.

Nice submission, meanwhile, pls read what I said about Shehu earlier this month.

junnyjake:
Shehu is not a RB, he's just a makeshift RB. Ndidi also played there once and if not for just one blunder that almost led to a goal against Zambia, He had a great game as a RB.

Before the double header against Cameroon, Shehu didn't impress most of us as a RB, as he hardly contributed anything to the attack in our game against SA thereby leaving the Simon stranded most of the time.

And till date he's not the perfect RB.

I've seen some analysts come up with analysis that makes me wonder. Shehu is best suited for a 4-man defence and Ebuehi is better off with a 3-man defence. NONSENSE!

Ebuehi at his club plays at the right side of a 4-man defence week in week out for his club. He adds more to the team attackwise not forgetting his primary responsibility as a defender.

I'd definitely go with the full package if presented with a choice, giving no space for sentiments.

Uzoho wasn't jittery as many here have opined, He's an inexperienced kid and it was visible for all to see yesterday.

He can't operate at a level his experience hasn't gotten him to yet, his positioning and decision making need serious help, it's gonna take him months to learn some of these things, do we really have that much time?

It's just so bad that we're on the verge of making him our number one at the mundial where the pressure can be overwhelming for those tender shoulders of his.

Leukemia, it shall never be well with you!
