But obviously someone like you is the type dru23 always talk about and would always laugh very hard.

The average Nigerian would always take advantage of any generous gesture they noticed let alone lagosian driver, you obviously weren't considering your investment before shining ur 32 at d driver.

My brother plz let's encourage people to come out. Am sure there is a lot of people out there with similar stories, but too ashamed to come out. Let us learn, let people tells us their stories. It is well sha thread carefully.....

2010 accent, please take a pic of the engine, I wager you have the wrong engine installed.
As soon as you put mouth for this my car mata, also asked for the pic of the engine, i had to pause from further reply as the engine pic became the benchmark for further convos. Well i wanted a good read of those problem codes and not a change of engine suggestion.

I found out my friend who went for same car has alike engine(Same friend calmed the ish for me after you suggested i sell it after just purchasing it. That verdict was harsh as after more check and consideration, the situation with the car was manageable) and at such even if changing engine could solve most of the problem i needed to minimize cost as i believe that's not the only and possibly final solution. As it is now most of the work i earlier complained of are now balanced, only need to check the Ac and then when work starts i see if fuel economy is intact.

Something to take note of about the car is that, aside when load isn't much on the engine and it vibrates, it never misfires. I'm willing to start with it like that and learn with it before i have the boldness to invest more in the business. So unless this car fails, i would consider there was never an ish with it as per my conclusion. Thanks

Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion so pls I still stand on that based on my experience as a driver and as a partner! Everybody are not the same. There are bad ones and there are good ones.

We add too much sentiment and bias in things and further wanting to extend it to business and that's why most Nigerian thing(business) doesn't succeed, for example see konga(sold), dealdey(sold), jumia(strong). Running business like family affairs.

Although i did exactly what you said for 2 drivers previously,

First driver: Made me pay extra aside what uber charged for getting my goods in his boot, I've seen here where someone said in uber you dnt talk to your rider unless you're spoken to, but driver kept making me uncomfortable with talk like a talkative with Ac not chilling on an evening o, with just a staff of mine at the back seat. Thought about rating him bad but didn't rate him at all.

Second driver: This one came out helped me carry load into the boot, ok that's nice. Then i entered the finished muscle camry, i was surprised such a car was on uber, this one started using me to peep into fuel stations that he doesn't have fuel and then Ac no work. Didn't rate him too since 1 star was not nice. Actually 1 star befits.

Left both of them without rating just because i didn't wanna give them negative one. But that's probably wrong of me.

His words "u pay to MTN to get recharge cards so why give ur cars free to get money " . He is now my mentor cos I need to learn .

I know a single man who own 18cars.. All corolla (2008-2012).

Can't wait for Uber to delete the rating app and an e-hailing company that only connects passenger to drivers and they both negotiate the fares before they start the trip and the company gets a flat fee every month.
Most of these riders on uber cannot even afford the yellow and black taxi but would be forming big person that a/c is not working like they gave birth to them with air condition. If they are really pressed on a/c they should go buy their own cars and maintain it not complaining about other people's cars and giving low ratings.
They should be thankful they are paying that low for riding in a good car.

You seriously need to have your head examined for this outrageous statement. Are you doing your customers a favour? WTF! If you don't wanna don't business, stay at home

as a rider/driver, regarding Uber rating system, these are my own personal conclusions

.. a rating system is very much required and the purpose which is primarily to keep drivers on their toes in terms of service delivery and weed out bad drivers makes a lot of sense

...uber rating system is too simple, I believe the calculation should be much more complex. the simplicity of using normal averages makes it very very unfair to drivers. a form of weighted averages would have been better. for example if 4 people rates a driver 5 stars after which driver now gets a 1 rating, his average rating will be drop from 5 star to 4.2 immediately ie 5x4 +1x1=21/5=4.2. it will now require so many 5 star rating to get to 4.7 and the driver will never be on 5 star again even if he keeps getting 5 stars rating subsequently. so think this is the part that needs to be worked on

...rating systems should also affect riders. riders should also get temporarily blocked for low ratings cheesy this will also make riders sit up and be better clients

The rating system is not perfect but very necessary.
Without rating system, Uber will be dead esp. in Nigeria (Just picture Danfo drivers attitude).
I agree there are some flaws in the rating system because it does not truly reflect the service the driver offered all the times.
Surge plus traffic with bad mood may give you bad rating, just because the rider paid more than envisaged.

On AC issue, with good AC Your Ac should not be on always.
On a hot afternoon, with your personal car do you on the AC before you enter? NO you enter start the car and on the AC.
A good AC will circulate coolness within 2mins.

I once drove a car with instantaneous MPG reader, AC can drop the mpg by as much as 40%

Some drivers are devil, black ones!

And am not exaggerating.

I am really angry!

Earlier when I see people like dru23 saying things about drivers, I felt he was too harsh, had I known

I added a Toyota Corolla, I was unlucky, engine knocked before it even made one naira. Changed engine, changed evaporator, condenser and a host of other things.

Changed almost everything on the legs from shocks, brake to tires. Spent over 300k for these.

Where possible, I use oem or new parts, I buy them myself or order online.

That's not the story, this is the story

I gave this cha cha Corolla to an experienced driver referred by someone I happen to know. I checked his profile he had 4.6 as his ratings I was cool but there was one problem, he had no phone.

said he had some challenges, he had to sell his phone.

Because of the person that referred him, I asked him which phone and how much, he mentioned one infinix with 2g ram, the price was 38k, I transferred 40k to him.

Filled the car to half tank and handed over to him on a Wednesday.

Come Friday, he wasn't still paired with me on Uber, called him, he gave some cock and bull story of how he needs to go Uber office and do it, well for other cars it only took minutes, so I gave him 24hours to that. He did it in 18.

Come Tuesday, Uber didn't pay me, I've forgotten about him to be honest, since I used a different Uber profile/email address for him, I checked his profile, he was in debit of about 10k, he was owing Uber, I called him, he gave some stories, pleaded I give him till Thursday, let him pay one full week.

I agreed

Had I known

Thursday, called severally before I reached him, another story, his ac was bad he hasn't been working I was furious, did you call me?

Asked him to go meet my ac guy to fix it. I like doing ALL my repairs, for fear of substandard parts.

immediately, I logged on my GPS tracker, this guy was a bloody liar, he's been all over Lagos especially at night.

Gave a benefit of doubt even though my tracker says otherwise. Asked him for my money he said next Tuesday, I chilled, this point I was boiling but I needed to chillax, thanks to Heineken.

Tuesday, oga didn't pay, he didn't call, I didn't call

Wednesday same thing

Checked GPS he's been all over Lagos

Thursday morning by 10am, I stopped the car.

Went to the location, collected my car keys and phone.
Mechanic was already over the car thinking it was a mechanical fault, he didn't call me ooo.

Took the car back only to discover the following

1. Booth was permanently locked
2. ‎passenger door has been bashed, the glass is broken inside
3. ‎the car stinks like sh*t
4. ‎the new phone screen was broken

All in 2 weeks

I repaired the spoilt things and am looking for a driver, but this time like the yorubas say

Ojú ánu tí fọ!

He called me, I didn't pick cos if I swear 'for' him, it will be so bad that he would prefer his village people romance him than for my curse to kiss him.

Other drivers have even noticed a change self.

Why am I typing this long epistle

I just saw the same guy here asking for a car, on this thread, promising no stories. Yepa! Am angry!!!
The same guy, same phone no!

The thunder that will fire him ehn, is still using Yokozuna as dumbbell.

Dear partners, before you accept any driver please ask to call their former partners! Simple
if they say no, da wọn nù bí omi ishanwọ̀

Plus collect upfront payment ooooo

If you don't have, ja kúrò ní waju mi jàre, mi o ráyè radarada pálapàla.

Datguru, abeg send me that your HP agreement, am considering it.

Udo!

Bro you are really nice Walai. Some people had just been destined to be poor all over there life and this guy is one of them. Imagine all you did for him.

Rating blah blah blah....

How about oga taxi without rating.

You only have the option of choosing either to ride with the driver next time.

Yes/No.... Both parties go their separate ways

In my opinion. Uber and Taxify rating is not a true measurement of quality service

About work being slow, lol. Our monthly revenue from ticket sales alone is way more than what your 6 elantras are bringing in a month, but will you hear anyone brag? "Show me someone who has cars more than I do" yet you have 6 cars and you were just told of someone with 16 cars. Lol.

Remain humble. That's the code.
